I think it's quite unlikely to actually get killed given the type of crime he exposes. It's mostly just nerds that found clever ways to make money off a game. They will get angry and maybe try to take vengeance in some digital way. Actually making the effort to track him and taking the risk that comes with murder while they have marketable skills would make this unlikely.

in 2012, the dutch supreme court ruled that online MMO items (runescape specifically) are the property of the players on the grounds of "time and energy invested to acquire them".
This in turn implies that the player is allowed to trade with them as if they were real world items regardless of what Jagex says, as far as the dutch legal system is concerned.
And whats worse, the gold sellers themselves don't actually conduct an in game trade, they mere offer their services as a broker outside of the game itself.
Got a question for these guys; how do they declare their income? With numbers in the hundreds of thousands this will surely get picked up by the taxman and cannot say it is gained through imaginary currancy transfers. Do they use like fronts with made up businesses or?
I think that would be the case, you could easily setup a company with a corporate tax of either 0% or anywhere to 21%, keep the money in the company and make any purchases with the company, lease any assets to yourself. I don’t know if people are actually smart enough to avoid taxes like this though.

Most are set up as legit businesses, my “friends” company cleared over 7 figures last year with 10-15 employees on pay roll where everything is done in a legit manner with accountants taxes paid and all. Most people have no idea the kind of money that people make off of this virtual world and addictions to staking.

Just a small thing about that 5-8 grand estimate, I can assure you that's nowhere near the real number. Once upon a time I used to sell gold too and competed with bogla, and according to my estimations back then they would have to spend around 100k a month to keep the #1 spots for keywords I was competing with them on, and that's just google, and just the keywords we were competing on, which they had many more of than I did. And these are very conservative estimations not even taking into consideration the ad costs on facebook, bing or even the TH-cam ads.

A while back I think Jagex already came to a fair compromise with their current in-game bond system. Players who want to purchase in-game gold with money can purchase a bond for about $6 or $7 and sell it on the GE and the other player can redeem it for membership. Even if all gold selling sites went away people could still buy gold through Jagex.

FYI Bogla isn't owned by Arceus so I'm really confused as to where you're getting your information from. It was actually founded around the start of 07 by 2 brothers and a colleague. It's changed hands multiple times but ended up back in the hands of one of the brothers around 18 months ago.
Also $2-5 million is around 100x what it was actually sold for. Additionally, it wasn't sold to Arceus.

ive actually been seeing multiple black market services for os being advertised on here. one was for bot scripts and it was the most cringeworthy thing ive ever seen, the other one was a gold seller/buyer. just thought it was weird cause i haven’t seen any illicit rs ads since way back in the day. even then they were usually just banner ads but these were full blown video ads.

The government ruined it because of credit card scammers and threatened Jagex oh so long ago.
Seems like you started to make another video with false information. The username of Bogla was used all the way up to the shut down and supported the site for bogla/arcus, they changed their name to Alch to allow their new goldsite to be advertised. Their new site is named Alch, and was opened a day or 2 after the close of bogla/arcus.
Honestly I think Jagex should just sell GP. If they took hold of the market it would increase their profits and they could have a better idea of how much gold is going into the game via real world trades. If they could gauge that they could institute some more gold sinks to offset and help the ingame economy.
Identification only helps if they file the chargeback as unauthorised transaction...if they file it as goods not received they win the chargeback %100 of the time as paypal dont allow the sale of virtual items. And even then if they file the claim with their bank/credit card company paypal has zero authority and will always refund it no matter what. I dont think this guy has a clue what he is talking about in regards to chargebacks.

I did some big digging with my people and so far we’ve found out jagex ended up buying the company out and shutting down under an agreement that the owner would not create a new one and be responsible for any immediate family if they started as well. This court stuff speculation is kinda funny after finding that out tho. You’re right jagex won’t really tell us anything.

There are much bigger things happening out side of a game like your small town government embezzling money or colleges in the United States abusing the financial aid program to earn more money from state aid tax free, or professors who writes their own book and makes the class buy them because there the only book that fits the class or is it really just the professors ideology being pressured on to the students?
