I bought this preamp for recording guitar and connecting mic for calls. I have to say it is amazing. I wanted first spend much more, but for home use is more than enough. Valve has nice warm effect to voice. Brings also nice clarity to guitar.
As a daily user of the Behringer MIC500 USB, I handle almost all my audio tasks with it, especially transferring cassette tapes from my Yamaha MT50 4-track recorder for my videos. I switched out the original Bugera 12AX7 for a Brimar 12AT7, and the sound is now much smoother. I'm really happy with the change!
It’s great. But, I swapped the power supply 1.5 amp switched to a 2 amp linear. And, it has a sovtek 12ax7 tube, those are very crisp, and you might want that. But I swapped it out for a darker tube for vocals. (Sovtek 12AX7LPS) The difference is slight, but I’m obsessed.
Yes, I improved it in future videos, ducking feature should now work reliably, for example Steinberg UR12 review ➜ th-cam.com/video/Zp3liacQmcg/w-d-xo.html
Hi there, thanks for this great and interesting review. I have a question please, can we plug at the same time a mic and a guitar for a simultaneous recording? Thanks and have a nice day.
Informative test, thanks. Behringer sounds good. BUT the audio interface has 24 bits and any computer on the integrated sound card has 16 bits line-in.
Is this Behringer easy to install and use? I have a Presonus interface that I got last year to record my guitar and I haven't been able to make it record decently or make its software work, or make any other DAW work with it. What's the software like?
Hi, great video. I have one question. Can you use it just as a preamp, just connecting it to my audio interface without connecting to laptop usb? Thanks
Hey great video. Question. And please forgive if this is really basic, (mics and audio equipment is not my forte.) Would this work with a lapel mic going into a fender amp. My FEEMIC Dynamic Mic works great, but the little lapel mic, that is better for clipping to my flute has zero gain. (Or whatever is causing the problem.) *Would me buying this Behringer MIC500, and routing the lapel mic through this to the amp sort the problem please?*
Most of my lav mics are wireless with an 3,5mm aux and connect directly to my Canon, if your mic comes with XLR or has an adapter cable maybe it could work.
@@DaynJo Some professional lav mic systems come with XLR as standard, such as the Sennheiser AVX, most budget models are the other way around, they have 3,5mm aux.
You left the output drive all the way down through the whole video so of course we really won’t hear a difference concerning how the tube can warm the vocals.
Hi i need a amp to record audio for my home studio.i was wondering which one to get this mic500 or um204 both by behringer. Or should i go for focusrite solo . I want my song vocal to sound great. Have 15k inr or 200dollar us budget. Which one should i buy.plz help.
Weird, I have a different experience with the settings. I can't get nearly any sound through unless I have the +48V button pressed. This preamp is useless without this button pressed, no matter what combination of any other setting. Anyone have any idea why?

Probably wise to take off the background music... when testing... mic audio?...

No
can we use it as audio interface for music production or do we need an audio interface beside for music production ?
Great review. Do you have a review for the Art MPC that you showed us?
i have the older version and it works fine
What could be the reason if no sound reaches the computer? (mic -xlr-> preamp -usb-> pc)

Thanks for the info!
It goes through USB, not through the PC soundcard.
It’s 16/48

The direct out isn't stereo right?

yes, you can use the line output and/or direct monitoring sockets
Rosti H swap out the tube for a low noise
What DAW did you use to record this?
Not DAW, I did use video capture software for recording:

Why do you have have background music playing?
Which one will be better behringer umc2 or tube ultragain 500?
Both the Behring UMC2 and MIC500 are affordable entry level USB audio devices.

@@ReviewTechTV Thank you very much. I appreciate the reply, and the help, I think it could be the way to go.

Iis it ios compatible
So, it can be connected straight to the Reaper DAW on my Windows 7 Desk Top without the need for an audio interface?
Ok, according to Behringer the MIC500 has the following:

Hi from Brazil.
Is it possible to connect the outputs on audio munitors? I only saw a headphone output and a direct output.

Direct out is the signal after passing through the preamp so yeah either that or the headphones out and hit the direct monitor switch

Personally I like the Steinberg interface and Audio-Techinca microphone:
• Steinberg UR12 ➜ geni.us/LY3B3
• Audio Technica AT2020 ➜ geni.us/Sx3z
As long as it is a XLR condenser microphone that uses the 48V phantom power you may not even need a tube preamp.
Weird, I have a different experience with the settings. I can't get nearly any sound through unless I have the +48V button pressed. This preamp is useless without this button pressed, no matter what combination of any other setting. Anyone have any idea why?
Ok, thanks for sharing your opinion, additional information in the video description.
Because you probably use condenser mic, not dynamic
Can it be connected to an iPad with usb otg?
Not sure, I only use it with computer, Windows and Mac works fine.
Yes
Is there a reverb ?
You what
Can it drive my rode nt1 and dt990 ???
The USB Audio-interface Preamp can be used for a variety of XLR Microphones.
can it record in 96khz/24bit?
I think it only has 16Bit/48Khz
@@ReviewTechTV thank you
With cakewalk and Audacity I have record 48khz 24bits and 96khz 24bits
@@ReviewTechTV Windows 11 pro and Cakewalk I record in 48 and 96 khz 24bits
i think art v3 is better........
... But it doesnt have usb so you have to buy separate interface
