I'm loving the Lewitt MTP 550. The PGA58 in your review here sounds amazing but I've heard it sound like crap in other reviews. Meg can sing me the phone book. One of the best vocal demo singers in any video.
Great presentation. Your demos are always so detailed and real world. The mics all sound great with subtle differences to my ear at least. If I had to pick any, the Beta 58 and E835 seemed the nicest sounding in this comparison.
Not only is that girl, at your place, an excellent guitarist but she's also a great singer, never knew. Hmm? Interesting review. Super cardioids are a little weird on stage cuz if you move your head from side to side at all you can lose the signal but I get the feed back rejection thing.
I absolutely love Meg's voice but wonder why she sings so far away from it. If this is a comparison, most people want to hear these mics used at the distances most people would use them at, which is to say a few inches closer.
I really like the warm sound I get from my Beta58a, but it’s lacking my needs for side rejection. i play electric harp, and the Shure picks up my playing pretty loudly, unless I literally turn my back on it. I tend to sing half again as close as your singer, so a minimum of proximity effect is important. That said, I’m surprised you didn’t include the Audix OM5, with boasts the best feedback and side noise rejection of any other mic in its class. I was skeptical, until i found out Bonnie Raitt has used the OM5 on her tours for almost 2 decades. include it on your next mic review, eh?
I need a mic that I don't have to feel like I need to be pressing my mouth against while I'm playing guitar. I have a strong vocal presence and need to have a mic that can project my voice from left to right (of the microphone) as I stand onstage. I need a mic that can even pic my guitar sound up well. Any advice is appreciated.
The E835 wins it for me, closely followed by the Beta 58, then quitte a bit less sounding the Lewitt MP550DM, then a bigger step down the Shure PGA58 and last but also very least the SE Electronics V7
The se v7 does anyone know if it would still be decent for studio vocals? I know it’s better to record vocals with a condenser mic but I do not have a treated room
Well, definitely you can use it for the recordings as well. I have both Sennheiser e835(which works better at lives as for me) and seElectronics V7( and also I have my condenser Rode Nt1-A) so I must say that V7 is realy great, I did a few covers, I guess it`s perfect for not very loud songs. I also asked my friends who produce music and all of them approved that the quality is enough for my purposes.
@@JoeStuffzAltyes I’ve seen ALOT of people say the v7 gives shure a run for their money but I besides being good enough for studio vocals I wonder how the proximity effect is. My favorite singer is diverse often being very close to the mic quiet vocals and then pulls away some for loud belting chorus etc .however they had ALOT of analog gear back then and the vocals sound rather thin in my opinion. Yet I’ve heard other albums where it sounds much thicker beefier tone but this was probably due to digital eq compression multi effects from a more modern computer. I’ve also had interest in the telefunken m80 which I hear is amazing for up close singers but double the price. V7 is 100$ m80 is 199$ however telefunken m80 says of the get go that they claim their mic is suitable for BOTH the stage and studio. So I guess I’m saying I want a mic that can do double duty. I understand this will come with limitations but can only afford time being to purchase ONE new mic
As a vocalist since I age 6. I didn't hear much of a difference. But the real test would be for each person to try them out. In a real band. The technology has finally caught up with the rest of the instruments and PA. It will be interesting how it all plays out.
The sE v7s extended frequency response has nothing to do with it been a super cardoid mic. Novices look to people like you for advice before spending their hard earned cash, So please, get your facts right!
@@norleymx Our other singers use those and they are also wonderful. The difference is all about the magnets used. The 935 has more punch(stronger magnets) than the 835s, in my opinion.I don't have to sing as "hard" as it is more sensitive...
Good job brother, all the mics sound good but when it come to how the mic handled vocal spread Ill go with the lewitt, you'll need headphone to see how quickly the vocal stops spreading which its can be a good thing for house of worship performance or in a small room, all other mics here have almost the same top end but lewitt have more control of it.
Sir, I am beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. In which my line will go in high tone and will also come in low tone. Tell me such a mic and audio interface. So that I can record and mix later. My room is not sound proof. My total budget is $300. But a shopkeeper told me that you cannot do recording with dynamic mic. Please tell me what should I do. Tell me such a mic and audio interface that I will not regret after buying.
It’s aluminum, not Aluminium. But overlooking that it would be nice if the singer would sing the same song, rather than different sound clips for each microphone.
One problem...to test vocal microphone for live you have to sing with microphone placed in front your mouth not 1 maters away. That test is worthless, looks like you never worked on stage with vocal microphones :(

Your demo singer is amazing

They're ALL NICE, but in the end, I'd have to go with the "Shure Beta" for it's Price and Build Quality. 😉 Great review, thanks! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
It definitely sounds amazing here.
SE V7 for me
I prefer and have bought a few V7s. Nice sound and build.
I concur , I have the Billy Gibbons edition it is sweet and looks great .
Well, old video I guess... But I think the Sennheiser takes the cake, I just can't help but love the bass response when she sings "I'm..."
This was such a great video and you showed me some mics I really hadn't heard of! :]
This is cool but the demos are a bit unrealistic being THAT FAR from the mic itself.
All of those will do the job. However - AKG D5 is best bang for the buck.

Great review! I own Lewitt 550, V7 and 58beta. All are great.
which do you like better?
I loved sE Electronics V7 its so much lightening

my thoughts exactly!
beta 58a the best!👍👍👍👍

That's a good mic. 👍
I have the OM5 and the OM7, both fantastic mics but for your purposes the OM7 would be the best, it also sounds amazing on vocals
I have the OM7 and love it to death @@geespar1
fantastic. Made it all seem so simple.
The shure beta 58 sounds the best
How about Beta58a vs sE V7? which is better in singing vocals?or even Podcast? what will you choose?
Good review! All sounded great, in the end, it will just fall greatly on the critical ear & hands of the sound /mix engineer.
Thanks. You can really hear the differences.
I am not a musician but my prefer mic was the Shure BETA 58A
I want to check out the Lewitt mics- personally I love the Sennheiser e945 and the EV ND96. But what do I know? Both with looking at.
You missed the Sontronics Solo - it crushes the Shures
Would any of these be good for showroom interviews?
TYSM for a wonderfully informative video!
Your video answered a lot of questions for me. Thanks.
Hi there, good video but Im a little confuse,in your video you say the PGA 58 shure is 50 £ and in your down below link is 74.60 £.👎
Once again Sam, love your work. Always trust your reviews pal. John
need one of these for mic swinging
The seinheiser stood out strangely i have both e835 and e845 sure sm58 also
So what is the best of all your microphone?

It more than likely is. Some studio vocals from legendary performances are done on an SM58. Dynamic/live mics definitely help with room noise

Hi does any one know whether or not you need to buy Amps for these microphones to work.
yes you do
What is the reverb , delay?
When you are singing in the bathroom that's reverb
sorry to burst any bubbles but this is an utterly useless test for true live sound - because the singer is WAY too FAR OFF MIC.
What 🎤 Do you think is the best hands down and I mean the best for live vocals and all around better sound?

what do u mean by that? (:
@@bbdalena this isn’t a realistic distance to sing from. These mics are designed to be about 2 inches from the grill to get best results.
