Just bought a 2018 Edge with the ecotech......I’m beyond impressed! Previous to this, I drove a 2006 Ford Fivehundred (I like Ford) and 3.9L 6 cylinder. I was really hesitant to buy a 4 cylinder, but holy crap, it moves, putting out 245hp. In Toronto traffic, you’re lucky to break 110km/h anyways, but merging onto the highway? Way better then my 6 cylinde AWD, so glad I went with the ecotech, and the edge...the highest crash test rating with knee, side, front, and in between driver and passenger airbags, kick ass sound system, when I see all its competitors on the road, I’m so glad I went with the Ford, just has nicer lines, and all the tech you could want. I test drove the 6 cylinder first, but didn’t like the response, but the 4 cylinder surprised the hell out of me...definitely worth the money!!!
The Edge is a greatly reliable vehicle. However, the only problems I have had with mine are the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) 'front differential' which lies between the transmission and the engine and gets obnoxiously heated the fact that its oil needs changing every 50,000 kms, as well as the rear differential oil which also requires changing or at least refilling with 75w140 rear axle oil at the same odometer, too. Other than that, the car drives wonderfully and has got the least issues.
Really enjoyed your video. I don't know what it is but I am drawn to the Edge. I know it's BIG and I know that the Kuga is more than adequate for me. Yet there's something and after watching this I am one step closer to actually buying one. Thank you.
@@Tech-Mark Totally can relate to you. Be aware that Rav 4 doesn't have Android auto or apple carplay. But obviously Toyota is bulletproof. The Edge might appeal to me also because I am a big U2 fan hahaha! But it's the sheer size that attracts the most.
I've had a 17 Edge Sport 6 speed manual in black for 11K miles now and superb with not a single issue. I test drove all the competition from bmw, audi, land rover etc before making a factory order with Ford and very happy with my choice. In the UK we can have adaptive LED headlights which add to the appearance and are very effective.
This is the best looking SUV on the planet at this moment. Dont care about fuel consumption and the rest. Who has 45 grand to pay for a car has money for fuel.
The Edge is not an SUV, its class is a CUV and of course there are bigger vehicles then it. You think they are oblivious to the fact there are full size SUVs? It's a larger vehicle on the road then many of the cars on the road. You can see with your own eye balls if you would stop thinking about "how great america is" and see how narrow their roads are. When the roads are narrow, even the Edge or any other CUV is considered a large vehicle. This is why even Canadians hate americans, you simply think guns equal freedom. You think violence equals freedom. You think the world revolves around you. Grow up, go to school, and maybe a gym.
@@Vortechtral u truly got offended by someone saying that cars are generally bigger in America. So what, we just like that we have the right to own a gun, speak without penalty, religion, etc.
From the UK here, yeah the roads are smaller here and so are all the cars on it. They're bigger than they were a couple of decades ago (but the car park spaces frustratingly haven't got any bigger), but you're absolutely spot on a massive car by UK/Europe standards is medium by US standards.
I've got the ford edge vignale and I have to say ,, it is a stunning car ,, it's a 17 plate I've had it 2 years and what an absolute pleasure of a car ,, only thing I'll say is , ford should seriously consider bringing 2023 model to the UK
The nearly quarter inch PVC, what some Unknowing people call cheap plastic, has several incredibly smart reasons for use in the interior including sound, durability and even safety.
I used to always get Fords because those along with Vauxhalls was in every scrapyard so cheap to keep running, scrapyards started turning into shops with virtually new prices and then died away, only the odd ones remaining but are still expensive,
I have the 2017 Edge Vignale and has loads of features but doesn't have cooled seats, I guess it was on later vers as there isn't even a place holder for the button.
@1:29 - why does nobody at Ford notice that nearly ALL S-max/Edge models have such ill fitting centre console trim where the cover opens... someone on the assembly line is clearly fitting them incorrectly, as they're not meant to be this bad!
Minor detail. Not relevant when purchasing a car. IF centre console detail is important suggest to manufacturers design them to be completely removable like in the older Volvo XC90 models where they lift out completely. That is a good idea but requires removal of vents and adapters/ wiring from it etc.
Why oh why do you not mention that the infotainment system has been updated since your test car was built? This is lazy journalism! With the Sync 3 system there is no problem with an unresponsive display. I have had my car for nearly a year now and this has never happened to mine. I also have never had an issue with the auto parking facility, I can only assume that this has been updated too.
After 10 months of using the new FORD EDGE I’ve got a lot of problems with it such as strange sound comes from the engine, computer problems, fuel gage getting stuck some time.. etc. it was the worst choice I ever made in 2017..!!
Daniel Esbenshade definitely a market adaption for Europe! So do they make these in the states with a manual too and refuse to sell them here with it, or did ford start production on these in another plant for the global market?
@@swanblake lol no they’re not bud you complain to much, every comment I see from you is complaint, complaint, complaint, you probably never even owned a Ford
typical ford construction.... i am considering one, but its only one out of a bunch of bad choices, and they are over priced... if wife would drive a pickup it would be a cheaper option
id rather buy an kodiaq. i think ford is alot like nokia, they were once very popular and cool but now they struggle to fit in with the modern revolution.
Iv had my Ford Edge for over a year now one of the best cars I’ve ever had and no problems with it at all
How do you get on with parking in car parks/ multi storey? I got a Kuga because it fits well in car parks. Still may consider Edge next.

Nice Honest review from someone who actually lived with it! Helpful.

Jeremy Corbyn does Top Gear review!
I have the same issues with the voice command in the car I had in the United States
Very good big allrounder without stupid costs and charges of some makers excessive profiteering for nothing given in reality.
What is the fuel economy like as the car is nice and roomy, but it no used if it 25mpg!
His voice is putting me to sleep need to remember this video when its 2am and a cant sleep 😂
Good review
If you need automatic parking you shouldn't even be driving a car.
One of the many stupid gimmicks on modern cars.

I like these tiny SUVs they have in England

Noise cancellation through the speakers is one of the worst things. I car should be well insulated via sound proofing materials

Edge is in the Toureg class.
a manual edge... i didn't even know you could do that.
@ 0:48 Fuel economy 47.9 mpg? Not even close for government work!!
MPG as in miles per gallon? Not seeing even close to that in the states.
looks just like a Focus. Bigger, presumably
a LOT bigger

A Q7 is so much better and more good looking
Helton Tognoli also costs almost twice as much
Helton Tognoli the Bentley SUV is way better than this ..........
But the Rolls Royce SUV will be a lot better
yeah, until it's twice as much or more to do routine maintenance on. and looks are quite subjective, the edge looks very good.
