    I received my first infusion of Remicade at the end of March. This medicine "put out the fire" in my gut. Remicade was miraculous for me. At the end of March, I also bought this kefir cage after watching this video, and I started making homemade kefir. I've made great progress healing my gut! -Thanks for making this very very helpful video Kenny!

    I just want to say thank you for everything you’ve put on this channel, istg it’s quite mindblowing for me.
    a bit of my story, I was diagnosed with mild-crohns just about 5 months ago, I had no problem in my stool, I pooped normal once a day, solid/sometimes soft stool, the colonoscopy result also no ulcers, just hyperaemia(?), but the abdominal pain for me is very unbearable, my GI doctor told me I have an inflammation on my small intestines, and in those 4 months I was like in literal agony cuz the pain is not going away no matter what I eat, so I asked my GI doctor what should I eat and what I shouldn’t eat, and my doctor just keep telling me I could eat anything and if I eat something that makes me my stomach hurt, then I should stop eating it. Like that’s just makes zero sense for me, and he put me on mesalazine-salofalk granule 3 grams a day for one month, but it’s just like a band-aid, it hurts when the effect of the drugs starting to fade away, and no matter what I eat, the pain will be there. like I felt so angry, frustrated, and very miserable cuz I feel like the drugs is not doing me any justice or they’re doing something but very slow(?)
    So I decided to do my own research to handle my situation. I asked everyone here and there, ppl telling me not to eat red meat, eat chicken instead, don’t eat this and that, some told me only to rely on the meds, cuz that’s just the only way, which I don’t believe that. I do whatever they said but still having a lot of pain, until I stumble upon someone on tiktok doing scd-diet which basically eliminating a lot of carbs, and that’s when I found out cutting rice which I eat everyday significantly reduced my pain. but it’s still not helping, I do supplements vit d3k2, fish oil, magnesium, zinc, probiotic which quite helping, but still the pain come and goes. after all the research, I found someone who do carnivore diet, animal based diet, and I found your channel.
    and I realized what have been missing in my dietary is KEFIR, istg it works wonders for me, I start drinking kefir every morning with banana and raw honey as prebiotic, I do still take biogaia probiotic too, and it changes my life entirely, oh my god, my pain literally goes away in 3 days. and my GI doctor lower the doses of mesalazine 🥳, which now I only take 1 gram a day. But I believe the biggest factor is kefir and the animal based diet I follow, cuz I feel increadible after that. eventhough I still need to work on my weight since I lost 10 kg, but at least I’m not in pain anymore 😁
    if I have not found your channel I would never put kefir on my dietary, so thank you a lot and maybe I will try some cabbage juice later.
    oh and red meat absolutely help me, somehow my gut became very calm when I eat red meat. so if someone tell u not to eat red meat pls don’t just take that, try it, if it’s not working then that’s when you need to stay out of it. cuz the meat is working on me along with the kefir. I do acupunture and chiropractic also to work on my nerves since I oftenly get stressed with this disease and it helps! I wish everyone with IBD can find their own journey to heal and can live normal again
    thank you kenny, keep doing what you do 🔥

    Just my atypical experience: I didn't have uc until I was 47. I suddenly started having joint pain, then uveitis (swollen eye), and then severe ulcerative colitis and anemia. It came out of nowhere. UC typically starts in young people, but mine was very late onset. I often drank beer after work, so I assumed that was the cause. I cut it, but the problem continued. My doctor (in Korea) prescribed mesalazine as an anti-inflammatory for the gut. That helped but flares kept occurring. At one point I was fine. My wife and I went to this fancy 100 dollar buffet and flipped out. I ate a lot of small cakes and rich ice cream for dessert. The next day, bloody blowout. That's when I realized my biggest trigger for flare was simply processed sugar. It's like I'm allergic now. A piece of cake will give me full body joint inflammation and more will cause the uc. So, for me, completely quitting sugar and boosting my gut with kefir got me pretty much back to normal. I think my late-age uc was a symptom of leaky gut caused by processed sugar and alcohol. I still take mesalazine as my gastro prescribes, but compared to the US it is quite easy in Korea. It's only about $40 for 2 months of the oral drug. My doc really pushed using the suppositories at first, and I tried them, but that is a kinda unpleasant way to take medicine^^

    This looks so promising. I just got some kefir grains from a friend across the country. I hear her grains are very hearty.
    I have a cow's milk intolerance. I've tried raw and store bought cow's milk kefir and both cause stomach upset and excess mucus in my sinuses and throat.
    So, I'm currently trying goat milk kefir. I can't tell yet if it's working because my stomach is very sensitive after having a misdiagnosed ruptured appendix which led to necrosis in part of my large intestine, which resulted in a cecal resection. And of course, I had multiple rounds of antibiotics plus constant IV antibiotics during my 5 day hospital stay. I am messed up.
    I also live in an area where the air and water are polluted and i just moved again. We have many new kinds of trees throwing off pollen here. I have constant allergies.
    For that reason I'm also going to try alternating my goat's milk kefir with coconut and nut milk varieties to see if that at least helps with my rhinitis.
    Thank you for such an informative video and I'm very glad to hear you've come so far in your healing. The kefir grain cage looks like a great help. I may give it a try.

      Probably. Its undigested plant food that often causes skin problems. Fermenting is a great way to rid some toxins. You can even ferment rice. Make your own yoghurt/ kefir. And meat is going to be your friend to heal your gut lining.

    Hey Kenny, I just started your Bootcamp a week ago. You've been an absolute Godsend in my life as I have suffered from Ulcerative Colitis about a year now. I was on Mesalamine for a year and could eat pretty much anything I wanted, but last month I noticed that the medicine wasn't working like it used to. I came to the conclusion that I will always have to increase the dosage of my medicine or worse if I continue down this path. I didn't have any hope that I could heal this condition until I stumbled upon one of your videos. Thank you so much for giving people like us hope and being a blessing in our lives. Also, I know that you suggest using raw milk. However, I'm still not comfortable with it quite yet. I'd like to start with just Kefir and normal milk first. Does it matter what milk I use? Could I make Kefir with Almond milk for example?

    • @team_honnas
      @team_honnas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Appreciate the kind words! You could start with regular milk, doesn't need to be raw. The fermentation process will still break down a significant portion of the lactose and increase the probiotic microorganisms. There are ways to make it with coconut milk and I'd assume almond milk as well. Cultures for health has some info about plant based kefir on their website that might be worth checking out. I'll also be filming a video about a pretty cool probiotic coconut yogurt that has some similar benefits as kefir. Hope that helps!

      If you're still looking for an answer, this has been my experience: the short answer is no - it is not necessary. It is difficult for me to find raw milk in my area. I would be better off looking for and then finding big foot at this point. What I do is use a really good organic whole milk that I just buy at my local store. Pasteurized is fine to use but make sure the milk is NOT ULTRA pasteurized. Most milks will say if it's ultra pasteurized, if it doesn't say ultra then you're probably good to go. Raw milk is the golden standard, but my recommendation is the next best thing if you can't get it and my kefir turns out quite nicely with it. And it's helped me improve dramatically!

    Great video! Did you start off drinking large amounts of kefir or start small and build up? Pretty sure I have SIBO, I get brain fog when I drink Kefir. Do you have any idea why?

    • @team_honnas
      @team_honnas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started with and maintained about 10-20 oz per day in combination with about a cup of fermented vegetables per day. I think it's probably better to start lower than that since I was already in a pretty good place in regards to symptoms. I'm not sure exactly how kefir would affect SIBO. That's one of the next areas of research I'll be diving into. At this point, I think the prudent thing would be to get tested for SIBO, find out if you have it, then deal with that first before adding in probiotics and kefir. Kefir may have a beneficial effect on SIBO, but as of now, I don't know that so I can't give you a definitive answer on what to do there. If you don't have SIBO, it's possible that you're experiencing the herxheimer reaction as a result of the kefir and that may be why you have brain fog (www.sciencedirect.com/topics/immunology-and-microbiology/herxheimer-reaction#:~:text=The%20Jarisch%E2%80%93Herxheimer%20reaction%20is%20the%20abrupt%20onset%20of%20fever,et%20al.%2C%201994). I'd get tested for SIBO so that you can either deal with it or rule that out.

    Thank you so much for helping us fellow uc suffers. I started making my own kefir a week ago, the first days my stomach reacted well. I then let it ferment for 48 hours and my stomach started hurting, bloated and the uc started :( I tried to read about it and some people says it’s die off and that it’s a good thing. Actually I’m a little scared that it will make me feel worse. I also read that your body have to get used to it, little by little. So I will try to start slow now. What is your opinion? Did you have any die off in the beginning and do you believe in die off? I’m not lactose intolerant or allergic to milk. Hope you will answer me 🙏🏻

    • @team_honnas

      I keep mine refrigerated. Cultures for health says that milk kefir can last for up to 2-3 weeks in the fridge:

      Thank you! Yes, I have. I fermented kefir between 24-36 hours for a long time until I called the dairy I originally got my kefir from. I asked them how they made their kefir and they told me they allowed it to ferment for 48 hours, so I decided to start doing it that way.

    What do you think about using store-bought kefir? I've been buying unsweetened, organic, grass-fed kefir from the grocery store for my kids for years (I've never liked drinking it myself) and I'm wondering if you think it's good enough to help the healing process. I also have a child with severe milk allergy, and the thought of preparing kefir in our home is a bit stressful. But, as a mom with kids, I really just want to get well and stay well! What about coconut milk kefir? I've been thinking about making coconut milk yogurt at home.

    • @team_honnas
      @team_honnas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm definitely not a doctor, so please don't take this as medical advice. I encourage you to consult with your doctor before acting on anything so that you don't accidentally overlook something. That being said, I personally think the store bought kefir will be a fine substitute as long as it's high quality like the kind you mentioned. My preference is for it to be made at home, but in your specific case I see how that would be problematic. Coconut milk kefir can also be a good alternative. Hope that helps!

And how much do you drink now? If you don’t mind please share the link from the fermenter. Thank you very much and all the best wishes

    • @team_honnas
      @team_honnas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Really appreciate the kind words, thank you! Here is the link to the kefir fermenter: amzn.to/3mSK0Q2. I personally think the best way to go through a milder die off reaction is to start low and go slow. If I were doing it over again, I would start with 100 mL per day for 1 week. If I saw an increase in symptoms as a result of the die off reaction, I would either hold the dose of kefir steady for 1-3 days and see if the symptoms decreased/normalized. If they didn't decrease/normalize, then I would drop the dose of kefir or stop the kefir altogether until they did. On the flip side, If the symptoms normalize after a few days, I would increase the dose by 100 mL every week until I was up to about 800 mL like the IBD patients in the study were given. Always err on the side of caution! If you see an increase in symptoms and need medical attention, go get it. I always recommend consulting and listening to your doctor before you make dietary changes. Hope that helps.
