DO NOT store your onions in the same place as those potatoes!! Onions give off a gas that will cause your potatoes to sprout. Keep onions and potatoes as far away as possible from each other. I'm no expert but I just learned this the hard way. I keep my onions in a totally separate room from potatoes and the potatoes last much, much longer.
