How would you like to trade a Southern Indiana geode hunt on private property for a hunt at Copper Valley Mine? Can you get us in? Were going to be in Missouri in a couple weeks

As awesome as that would be sadly, I don't have that kind of power 😕 . I wish I did because I would be down for it.
You would have to contact them directly, I was just given the opportunity to check it out early.

It's crazy there, and that's just surface finds like legit. we did zero digging with tools.

My heart was racing watching this. Sometimes I'll have crazy rockhounding dreams that'll make since when I'm having them, but then realize the finds were crazy upon waking. This was like that. Definitely a dream rockhounding location. Hopefully I can hold my breath till June. 😂

As it gets closer, we should have more info on it ... I will make sure to put phone numbers and Facebook pages in the next video ... when I was told about it, I was like "Yeah yeah sure malachite everywhere." Then I got there, and there was a loud pop, and that was my head exploding 🤣🤣🤣

Sounded like you guys were having a great time exploring around there. Would love to see how this stuff tumbles up.

I might toss some in the tumbler, but I am for sure going to throw a little on the flatlap once it warms up a bit more. My homemade redneck engineered flat lap throws way to much water for this time of year 😆

I will definitely try to make it out in June for the opening, and then maybe I can finally hit Haunted Ridge the following day...I'll need to see how plans go though, as I know we're traveling to visit family several states away over the 4th, so I may not be able to swing that June trip, but we'll see!

I don't know if they tested the tornado sirens this year here in Michigan yet but they did work for the two tornadoes that torched down two weeks ago. Grand Blanc got by an EF2 around 1:30 am the no one got hurt, amazingly. I wish I could come down to visit that mine. The specimens are awesome. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.

Do you have any suggestions for books or resources to help identify cool rocks that might be in locations like this? I’m going to a dig here this weekend and would love to know what to look for in particular! I’m so stoked, it’s only my second dig!

    • @huntingrocks
      @huntingrocks  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

I am a huge fan of the national Audobon Society rocks and minerals book . For free look at the area I would recomend checking mindat.org it will also give you a really good idea of what can be found there.
A lot of books like to show pristine museum quality pieces, which can be found but for most of us rockhounder types unless we are underground we probably won't find them (Due to weathering and the such) I also use an old book "The Golden Guide to rockhounding" It's not bad for a cross reference but for a new Rockhound the Audobon Society is very useful.
Oh and also Mindat covers the entire world so any place you may look you can type in state name then look for the county you will be in.
Good luck I hope you find some AMAZING pieces. 😃

      @@huntingrocks TRUST ME!!!
I'm very near that location, and, while most of the minerals I can mine are [sadly] NOT cuprous, I indeed DO keep an eye out for cupric deposits! (~_^)-b
However, while some superb mineral formations of extreme beauty just might manage to survive, my plans are laid out in a manner which leans more toward mass mining, than gem hunting.
Also, where I am now, not much exists to suggest that locally any types of 'gem quality' specimens exist...
      At this point.

@@hunnybunnysheavymetalmusic6542 Mass mining is a good thing I wish you luck , this area was great back in the late 1800's early 1900's. A boom in mining especially if it is rare earth would be great for this area, bring in many jobs and make you very wealthy.
