12 hr layover once, fell asleep in an empty gate at Taipei airport and woke up to a very long line of people boarding their plane and they all had to walk just a few inches passed me sleeping it was mega awkward so I just turned the other way pretending to sleep 😂
It's quite common in East Asia where people can just rent a comfortable space like manga cafe or spa place to relax and pass time. In these places, you get to just relax and read books or get spa for an hourly fee. You can even sleep there if you want to and it's usually cheaper than a hotel. I'm surprised that western countries haven't developed this kind of culture yet where people can just go somewhere and pass time for a cheaper price than a hotel.
I'm not paying 50 bucks to sit in a private lounge , ill just hit the burger king and find a nice row to myself, I must say I fancy hong kong as my favourite airport for a long layover
jimcunningham61 as someone who's been in both an airline lounge and the Burger King at DFW terminal 2. It really depends. Stuff like the Air France Lounge in Montevideo is a god send to find a nice quiet place that's relaxing but if you're travelling for leisure it's quite fun to just walk around the airport watching the planes. I had a lot of fun having 12 hours at Newark trying to catch 2 earlier flights on Christmas Eve foolishly thinking I could.
They see economy flyers, who take up most of the passengers, as second class(obviously not airline classes, they see us as lower people). We don't 'survive' the main terminal, we go sit there, shop a bit maybe, go on laptops/tablets/phones, listen to music, etc - it isn't that bad, the seats are fairly comfortable, it's a bit crowded, and can get a bit tedious after a couple of hours.
If you get the price of $20 for a lounge with A la carte menu then it is worth the few more bucks you'd pay than following James's advice. Exploring the Airport can kill an hour of your time, while resting in one of the comfortable seats can handle another two hours especially if you have a tablet of some sort. I wouldn't recommend intentionally sleeping if you are alone as anything can happen. And eating at a restaurant, fast food place, and enjoying some decadent chocolates can take care of another hour. All in all 4-5 hours is doable with this schedule, but if it's 8 hours you would really have to be against spending anything more than you can bare both financially and comfort wise.
If you can afford it, buy both an economy and FULLY REFUNDABLE first class ticket. Before the flight, leave the lounge, and give your first class ticket back for a refund
Your tickets have been turned into boarding passes by the time you've checked in and went through security and to my knowledge, you can't cancel a ticket that's already a boarding pass, so you may as well fly first class. Or you can compromise and fly business class. Airline probably got a scaled down lounge for business class but it's still a lounge!
The independent lounges in the US aren't just for economy travelers. In Europe & Asia, it's common to include lounge access for business class passengers, but in the US, domestic first and business class passengers, and high level elites do not get complimentary lounge access. The domestic US airlines sell memberships for a fee of around $500 per year, or sell day passes for around $50, and are open to economy passengers. The reason American Express lounges are so valuable in the US, isn't because they are open to economy passengers, but because you can use them regardless of the airline you are traveling on, and they typically have a much higher quality food and beverage offering that the airline sponsored lounges.
My Tips 1 try and check out your departure gate first. Also bathrooms and coffee shops for the am. 2 Are there 3 seaters without arm rests close by. Quiet but Not Isolated. A security camera nearby. 3 Earplugs Eye covers Towel plus jacket to keep warm. 4 Boarding pass plus valuables inside your clothes. 5 If a lot of suitcases a cable and locks. 6 Arrange a bag for comfort as a pillow 7 Lastly Wifi is usually better beside the Aport Lounge.
Spending a little money to access lounges as an Economy Class passenger is worth it. But airports with large numbers of transiting passengers ought to offer amenities like sleeping lounges with recliners, showers and possibly even pools and spas for payments. After a long haul flight and possibly another one to go, one should have the opportunity to sleep, shower, change one's clothes and perhaps catch up on Internet and laundry.
*Best sleeping airports with free lounge chairs are Singapore Changi and Hong Kong Airport. I was at LAX once, there was a gate area with a carpet and the sign said something like "Dog relief area" I really hope they don't just do it on the carpet that people walk over and maybe sit on*
I slept in the Kansas city airport for several days on arrival and, a week later, on take off. It was perfectly unquestioned ... until I boarded my flight back Detroit...... I was vigorously searched for "being in the airport for more than 24 hours"....
It's me When I mention about the voice, I mean Quest's voice....and yes he might be younger then me, but as for the looks.....if YOU think he's HOT... .well then I need to become a model soon....

We got a winner over here
So you want us to buy a $10K first class ticket just for the lounge? That’s a risk I’m Not willing to take 😝

I swear it should be mandatory for airports to have yoga studios, or at least stretching rooms.
A layover with James would make my day.
thank-you for this video ❤️ safe travels 🙏😃

so i came for tips but didn't get any?
As someone who lives in the DFW area, I can testify to how good the airport amenities are. Pretty enjoyable for an airport.
Thank you. I am going to spend the night there soon.

The views of Istanbul airport are great.
I still don't feel like I'm any further forward in surviving a layover.
This is why I love the dallas airport. Lots of things they offer.
My layovers are almost always around an hour. I always think people just check in early to enjoy the airport.

'BRISTLES with lounges' 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Just take one of those flip beach tents and set up in an unused area of the airport
Business's get to write this off as an expense, so the rest of us pay for the business mother fuckers having free lounge privileges.
good idea travelling is stressful .

Probably have a better answer by Tom Hanks (Terminal 2004)...

Sounds good if it's a adults only place. If I still have to put up with screaming kids or babies I'll rather hit up a Starbucks.
