I maintained a satellite earth station in an Esco Radom like yours. We had a loop on top the dome with a rope through it. The rope was to knock the snow off the dome. Pro tip, don't stand too close to the dome when whipping the rope or you get covered, and be sure you hold both ends of the rope or you pull the end through the loop!

That's just the nature of silicone - it sticks everywhere, and you always end up with it all over your hands. I have high-temperature silicone, which is a nice red color and behaves quite differently when you're working with it. Now, contact with the aliens can soon begin, and I'm really excited about it. The idea of the all-seeing eye on the dome gives the whole thing that certain special touch.
love these updates, no matter how long between uploads, I know when you do post it'll always be a good one. Thanks for keeping us updated and merry Christmas!
I went over my van roof with some paint called Tropicool. If it would mange to stick to the material it would probably seal up the dome pretty good. It goes on like paint but is really thick and rubbery when it cures. Looking good!
You were already a cartoon villian well before you had the dome. Now you just have another part to complete the look. Also, picaridin is my go-to mosquito repellent. Minimally unpleasant and very effective. I don't go outside during the spring/summer without some and as a result I haven't had ticks on me in a very long time and get far less mosquito bites than otherwise.
I've been wanting to build a Geodesic dome for forever! Where i live over in Sweden it looks pretty much the same. I live at friends house and he is a hoarder, but sadly he have no intelligence to why he collects all he does take home, he just leaves it outside so when it has been trashed by the weather I get the shit, which sometimes is ok, but most of the time it's just to throw it away. Regarding the silicone, put your finger in your mouse and make it wet with your saliva and then run it over the silicone to form it like a half pipe, or quarter pipe. So it becomes a ridge the water wants to run off of. Note! Do not suck on the same finger again after you have been in contact with the silicone.Better yet, use nitrile or latex gloves.
The projects might be never ending, but at least they are awesome! Very cool to see the dome in development, definitely a lot of work but the end result will be great for even more projects. You could potentially make an airlock with the extra components.
On a quiet evening in a dimly lit attic, two mice-Max and Milo-scurried through a pile of discarded papers and books. They were on the hunt for their next snack. Max, a curious little mouse with a knack for asking too many questions, paused in front of a glossy booklet with bold letters that read: “User Manual.” “What’s this, Milo?” Max asked, his whiskers twitching. Milo, the older and more confident of the two, glanced over with a smirk. “Ah, that’s a user manual. Useless stuff. I already read it.” Max tilted his head. “You read it? Can we eat it? I mean, is it safe?” Milo chuckled, his tiny teeth flashing in the dim light. “Of course, it’s safe! It’s just paper, Max. And besides, I checked. The whole thing was full of nonsense-no mention of it being inedible.” Max wasn’t convinced. “But… what if it says we shouldn’t eat it in one of those tiny words at the bottom?” “Max,” Milo said with exaggerated patience, “I told you, I read the whole thing. It’s all rubbish about buttons and settings and how to plug things in. Nothing about mice or eating. If it’s not useful, it’s edible.” Max hesitated a moment longer before his stomach growled, convincing him otherwise. He took a nibble. “Hmm… it tastes like…” “Instructions?” Milo quipped, taking a bite himself. “No,” Max replied with a grin. “It tastes like victory. Humans waste so much paper on silly things!” The two mice gnawed their way through the manual, laughing at the absurdities written on the pages. For them, it wasn’t just a meal-it was proof that sometimes, knowing too much wasn’t necessary when you had instinct and an empty stomach.
@saveitforparts Ah, alright. That makes sense, Looking at some of your other latest videos it looks like it is getting more wintery there, I also don't know how I thought it would have been such a vast difference LOL
When I see the sausage tube the first thing I think of is epoxy tubes inserted in pre-drilled holes in masonry that anchor rod is inserted into and spun to mix the two components in the tube. I wonder if your tubes are actually silicone.
Well congratulations on the new title . I guess I'm not surprised that the mice got to the instructions that you insist on never reading. Would a spray on elastomeric be a viable option for one of these things?
Now you just need 3 things, a (More) strange and eccentric evil scientist hair cut. a lab coat/bad and tight costume (ideally lab coat for your style, comfort, and utility) a animal sidekick whos insane and evil like you.
It's so that the artifacts created by local reflection paths and the ever so slight attenuation at the seams is effectively randomized in the returns. Think about watching rows of crops in a field as you drive by and see the moiré patterns as the rows line up at various angles. The same family of effects will affect RADAR returns. The skewed alignments allow a small number of standard panel designs to be used and results in an effectively random dispersion where it happens.
I have one oz opinion about a battery powered loader caulk gun which is what you have there I myself prefer a mechanical power squeeze or a pneumatic 😊
That ladder looked really unsafe. You should stack some telephone books or old Sears catalogs on top to get a better reach.
Safety sandals round the look
put the catalogs under the feet of the ladder, it helps with stability :D

I peed on an electric fence, when I was a kid. Since that, i never let electricity anywhere near any of my caulk.

When CSS Group does maint on a radome, it's usually a handful of workers, and several days, so, you're doing really well, Gabe!
Also, the Michigan radar base folks might want to contact Allan, who might be able to find a used radome for them...
3:15 - I assure you, I will not be climbing up into an 18' radome in my backyard.
You are my spirit animal. Rescuing stuff from the bin, a property of old play equipment and random shacks is basically my life
I'm upgrading you to Austin Powers villain now that you've got a badger.
SDR-Wolverine is awesome i am too happy i found this channel
I love this man’s junk
First time I've liked that phrase... LoL

i like that you upgraded from the regular caulk gun to the MEGA CAULK GUN
I knew you had it in you!

“Mono- D’oh!”
This episode was really fun! Thanks 👍
It would be kind of cool to plumb a diesel heater into the dome and do a winter satellite mapping and camping video.
This channel is the perfect combination of nerdy prepping diy. 😅
So jealous of y'alls setup in Sandland! Always a treat to get off work, and a new saveitforparts video dropped!
Watching a geodesic dome give birth to a baby @saveitforparts is always so beautiful.
Oh I’m loving this!

That is a mammoth project, Gabe. Great work, mate.
Youre almost done . Dont give up on the dome .

Tropicool is used to coat rubber (sic) RV roofs. Also works to coat tool handles!

Hooray for Wisconsin!!!! I thought you were in Minnesota!!!
BTW, how do you have green grass and T-shirt in Wisconsin? Isn’t it cold and snowing?! It is up here in the Northwoods!
He's in MInnesota, but SandLand is over the border next door in the land of cheese and awesome Polish sausage.
I live in Minnesota, Sandland is in Wisconsin, and I filmed this over the summer /fall!
@ I see! Gotcha! Thought I was losing my mind lol
The badger was cool. I've also never seen one in real life!
That wasn't roadkill
I am now fully absorbed into this channel. And i never had any interest in any of these topics usually. So geat learning all this info though.
All you need is minions and The Diabolical Laugh® .
it looks super. it being winter i wonder how warm it will be in the Spring and summer.
It's the technodrome!

tough dirty work but well worth it! super cool project ^-^

So Minnesotan, so Wisconsin, so good.
I'm from Wisconsin, can confirm I have all of this stuff and so does everybody else.

There are different grades of bolts. It's a trade off between strength, brittleness, and cost.
O_o So glad I watch these all the way through~ Always epic content!!!! TECHNODROME!!!!!!
i bet you are supposed to cut the end of the sausage and sandwich the wrapper into the screw on lid
I see that and I immediately realize what I would use that silver chrome spray paint on... ;)
I know the caulk was free, but man that looks like a job for the cans of spray flex-seal!
So... You have your own BMEWS system now. That's pretty cool.
WOW, it is super sunny there! Dark and dingy here in Oregon, at least it has been recently.
This was all filmed over the summer and fall so it's not quite on time!
@saveitforparts Ah, alright. That makes sense, Looking at some of your other latest videos it looks like it is getting more wintery there, I also don't know how I thought it would have been such a vast difference LOL
ive seen similar large Eye looking things like you put on top of your dome, but used on a farm to keep away birds
Cleaning out the old silicone IS important, old doesn’t bond to new, so you’ll make a nice new seal over top of a bad existing seal. Bandaid solution.
7:22 Nice catch. They are very elusive.
Silicone is body neutral and neither positve or negativity charged.
This is exactly my experience caulking my tub the other day.
When I see the sausage tube the first thing I think of is epoxy tubes inserted in pre-drilled holes in masonry that anchor rod is inserted into and spun to mix the two components in the tube.
I wonder if your tubes are actually silicone.
They are, they're labeled as such.
Keep us updated with your villain name and laugh
*PRO TIP* : Never tell raccoons they can't. 😂
So true, they will push through that door like a cowboy at a saloon
Fun video!! cute stray cat! You made your own technodrome.
another good one
So much space for antennas
Look up 5min tutorial on how to use caulk gun? ❌
Mess around for an hour trying to figure it out? ✅
Very cool!
I congratulations on surviving the badger attack.

That weird reverb inside the dome needs to be recorded as impulse response. It's definitely one of weirder ones.
