The climb has become so difficult that I almost never snap at all. If I have a good shot a winning and I snap, they pretty much always leave. If someone snaps on me and I'm not VERY confident I can win, I just leave. I mostly just snap if I'm pretty sure I'm playing a bot and even then they often retreat as well, but usually at least get 2 cubes from them.
I think the worst part is that they said they'd be able to push out balance changes without needing a major patch and yet we're stuck with this until presumably the 21st, even though some of the changes have been needed for over a month. I really hope the balance patch at least has a lot of changes, including buffs, and not just nerfing Shuri and Thanos decks.

I've seen some people say forcing a retreat on Turns 5/6 should award 2 cubes (pulling a cube out of thin air). Or that an outright win should be worth an extra cube, something to break up the treadmill of gaining/losing single cubes because retreating is optimal.
I think you're right on all points- and it's much worse for people without the T1 decks, trust me. It feels great to beat Shuri and Thanos, but for every win (and I'm almost never snapping into those decks) I'm probably losing 3-4 cubes in raw retreats. The unexpectedness of the game has been solved, so it's not worth risking extra cubes on a "Do they have it" telegraphed 50/50 soul read.

I'm climbing a bit faster than I have in prior months. I'm sitting at 56 now which is the 2nd highest I've ever been usually it's a struggle for me to break into the 50s so getting pushed up to 55 right away has been a huge help. I've been playing a mix of thor lockjaw, electro ramp, and death wave because I have no series 5 cards and my S4 are terrible (MBaku, Orka, and Sentry) or rotated to S3 (Titania and She Hulk). For me the frustration on ladder stems entirely from having to compete with decks I can't play because of random chance not favoring me.

I made infinite in the Zabu season, found it to be a traumatizing experience. I took most of last season off and finished at 84. Now I’m playing more, but facing almost nothing but Thanos and Galactus mirrors in the low 50’s. Total grid lock even down here

  • @timmo8846

Great advice Zombie, I myself am still around 45. I started at 40. I really struggled to climb more than 2 ranks before getting perfect mirror-matched decks that would just pull exactly the cards you need to win. I noticed that after winning 4/5 matches straight I would get 3/4 matches where it was almost impossible for me to win. Either because Of the location or the deck I was facing. I’m just playing a bit and waiting for the patch to come out before I push for anything. This season is a real drag…..

I slowly made it to 80 for most of the week and then as soon as I was 86 I hit a streak of 4 and 8 cubers from bots and made it to infinite in just a couple of hours playing Shuri/Destroyer. I recommend letting them snap first on turn 5 when they are ahead in two locations because if you snap as soon as you see the cards missing some effects they tend to stick to 4 cubes games much more than in the past.

70-100 was 453 games for me. I used Thanos and saved all my tokens to include Kang as well for free snaps. My biggest climb was on the weekend when I sat down and focused and basically only snapped with Kang or with perfect answers to the opponent otherwise I was incredibly conservative with my cubes. So it took me roughly 30+ hours to climb the 70-100 range. Now I’m just happy I can play something besides Thanos.

I’m a newer player who started around the beginning of this year. I’ve been playing consistently with the daily’s since then, and have gotten lucky with a decent card collection. I’ve been running the Shuri/Red Skull deck after getting trashed by it a bunch. I feel like I struggled the most to get out of the 50s/60s. I played a lot last night and got into the 80s from around 74.

This is my second full season and I just hit infinite. I just happened to be watching this video when I crossed the finish line. I had the same experience snap-wise. I played Thanos Lockjaw. I did not run into a lot of Thanos, but I did see a lot of Shuri. That matchup just has too many scenarios where it's clear to both players if someone is way ahead or way behind. Thanos is so much fun to play but the stones really make him too dynamic.

Main account(collection lvl 4800) hit Infinite 3 days into the season after 2 days grinding with Galactus/Nimrod/Destroyer.
2nd account(collection lvl 900) is currently at 65 where I’m playing meta decks that I have no business playing against considering I don’t even have Aero or Lockjaw, let alone all the other meta-defining card’s being used everywhere.😅

Finished building the Shuri deck at the start of the season. It feels unfair how straight forward it is to play and win with it. I'm hoping they fix it so I can brew a bit without feeling like not being able to put 30+ power in two lanes means the deck is unplayable. The Thanos players at my rank (30-70 so far this season) don't seem to be playing the broken version of the deck because I almost never see Leech or Lockjaw.
I have switched Titania with Elektra because everybody runs Sunspot and Titania hurts me more often than helps.

I hit infinite today and I didn't feel that different compared to last season, I think the reason I can climb fast is I'm not afraid of losing 8 cube games (I think I even had a 2 or 3 game loss streak that were all 8 cubers). I think most people would only play 8-cube games if they can win it 100%, which is nonsense, you only need to win more than 50% of your 8 cube games. A +8, -8 and +2, -2 both total 0 but I'm pretty sure most people would rather have the +2, -2 because it feels "safer", but that's a logical fallacy that's losing people a lot of cubes in the long run.

Its a vicious cycle. This is my first season hitting infinite and I used Thanos to do it. What was crazy is everyone is running killmonger / cosmo really countered me hard plus once people see a stone they know they going to retreat unless they are shuri or have a big surprise. The low cube games were killing me, plus getting countered, plus really good players in my pool made it very hard but Im happy to be done. once you hit 100 you can mess around with other decks.
Unpopular opinion after hitting infinite: I really wanted to play Nimrod but because of Cosmo and Armor its nearly impossible to play destruction. If they nerf Thanos/ Shuri, i wish they take a look at armor/cosmo. These cards are sooo strong in the vein of leech.

That's weird, I've had the exact opposite experience. It usually takes me about 3 and a half weeks to get me to infinite, this season I got it in less than a week.

      @eugenepark9665 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I also had the opposite experience. But I manipulated the MMR to do so. Last season, I made infinite about a day before the reset. I spent that last day Agatha farming and lost 53 matches in a row, which destroyed my MMR.
This season, when I started, I played a bunch of bots in 70-80 - surely due to my horrid MMR; started seeing Thanos and Shuri in 80-90; and saw nothing but infinite rank human players (they were showing off the gold Xmen card back) in 90-100. But I retreated immediately when I recognized a human/Thanos deck, and aggressively snapped whenever I faced a bot, even if my hand was junk.
All told it took me 10 days to reach infinite.

I climbed bc of getting more 1/2 cube wins than losses and this was further boosted by a handful of +4/+8 bonuses from identifying and beating bots. When you are climbing it is zero sum except for the games played against the bots. My stats here are from rank 96-100 it def took me a lot more games for the whole 70-100 climb. I wanted to use these ones though as it was all done with the same deck
