Visit to Hathayim (aka Von Donop) Provincial Marine Park, Cortes Island, BC -August 2023

- We left Lund Marina in early August for a few months of roaming the Discovery Islands chain between Vancouver Island and the BC mainland. The first stop sees us back over on lovely Cortes Island. We had anchored in Gorge Harbour on the southwest of the Island about two weeks ago.
This time we explored a provincial marine park in the northwestern section called Hathayim, aka. Von Donop. The Vonop Inlet snakes its way inland on a pristine-looking portion of the island with several excellent spots to drop the hook.
It was a hot stretch in August, so we enjoyed being able to take daily dips into the relatively warm ocean waters. Warm is relative at only about 20C (70F) but not bad for BC, where the ocean usually is around 12C - 14C. We loved the tranquil atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of more populated areas.
In the video, I provide some footage of a half-sunk boat we saw in Squirrel Cove, our swimming fun, and views from the dinghy of Von Donop Inlet.

Really enjoyed the music too
looks really nice ray. Nice and peaceful.
Ray, sure like your boating videos!
I remember the Nestea Plunge. Ahhhh...
Just beautiful!! You seem to be really enjoying the "boating" life...
Yes we are :)
Ok Ray, I will give you a 9.9 for the Nest Tea dive but a 2.1 for holding your nose from the upper deck jump. LOVE IT, nice looking.
haha, yeah that was the second jump, learned from the first where I got a salt water power cleaning to the nasal cavity.
Love this video! Von Donop, one of our favorites! Wyatt Bay/Octopus Islands too. Be sure to check out the old cabin with all of the boater plaques in Octopus.
❤you look so happy!!
nicely done ! Sold my boat a few years back. Boated for numerous years. Found myself at the "Y" in the road, RV or boat. We boated in the Summer & RV'd in the Winter for years though. Wife preferred the Rv. But now I catch myself on Craigslist looking at boats again! I gotta stop watching I guess LOL ... Looks like Anne is a water person...
Now all we need is for guys to prepare some of your favorite meals. Then you could be Love Your RV and Boat and Cooking! LOL! Thanks for sharing your lives with us! May God continue to bless you both!!
What a life!!! Jealous.
Another great video. Have you ever been to Todd Inlet? Todd Inlet is close to Sidney I believe.
Yes, Anne had her old boat a 17.5" Arima Sea Chaser moored in Sidney for many years so explored all the nooks and crannies of the surrounding area and Gulf Islands, San Juans, etc.
Tell Anne you can swap out that Ford for an 800 lb-ft Cummins from a Ram truck with a big prop and then she could get the trawler up on a plane and you could go water skiing
I'm blinded by the light.
Ray, you need to careful with that tan line someone might mistake you for a farmer
