Well done. Great simple vid for anyone doing an install on 3rd gen Tacoma. Hiding the coax in the bed is great. I would recommend this to any Tacoma owner. thank you.
There are probably thousands of vids on TH-cam about bolting in the radio, but almost none show how to get the cable into the cab from the bed side of the truck. Thanks!
Moab is the very reason I went to HAM and gave up on CB. I got tired of getting separated from a buddy and having to turn my rig off, stand on the seat, and cup my hands to my ears to hear which direction he went. Maybe my CB setup was off somehow but it only seemed to work for line-of-sight communications.
Very clean mount! Other Tacoma owners told me there's like a firewall plug somewhere in the back wall, but I haven't gone looking for it yet. I'm mounting my first antenna on the rear of the hood up front for VHF/UHF, but will install something like your setup for a HF/shortwave antenna.
@@teamcrooks6913 My Midland is the one that is contained in the handheld portion; so I leave it wherever until I need to plug it in. It’s lic having the mic without needing the box portion. If I had to install a traditional cb; I would put it in either the glovebox or the center console compartment. Tune your antenna properly and you’ll get great range with any unit.
Yeah! I watched this video to see how you mounted the radio. The video title didn't say if it was the antenna or the actual radio. "How To Tacoma CB Mounting - The Perfect Spot".
I use the handheld version so that I can put it anywhere I’d like depending on where we are running around. I try and toss a clip mount in a couple locations so you can shift as needed
I just got it off Amazon, had everything I needed and you can mix and match whatever you need. Just got a universal L bracket kit that mounted to the antenna and then my own cable
Best thing to do is make sure it’s tuned after its setup regardless. So many people dislike CB radios because they can’t make good come but have never tuned the setup. Every setup needs to be confirmed tuned. If not then your just gambling that it works
Because I like the way it looks and it gives it less interference with the cab. I mean that’s just basic practical radio theory though but I mean I guess you could mount it wherever you want if you don’t care about getting the best range.
@@FreedomCrawler To get the best range, plant the antenna as close to the center of the vehicle as possible. That allows your signal to propagate in all directions fairly equally. Mounting at the end of a vehicle makes your signal more directional. Not as big a problem with CB which is pretty much line of sight but it does make a difference. There are solutions for mounting behind the cab to raise the antenna above the roof line and it looks cool too.

Glad it helped!
Are you able to do a full install of the mount and where'd you place your cb radio?
My question is, “Where in the cab did you install your CB?”
Clean install David , looks very nice . I still prefer a CB radio as well .
Thanks, I don’t think it’s going anywhere and the people who have issues always have installation errors

I appreciate that
Subbed. I needed this video. Couldn't figure out where to run my cable. Thank you.
Thank you and welcome!
Where in your cab did you install your CB?

Great video, this will definitely help me with antenna installation. Thanks
What mounting bracket did you buy? Not finding one that looks like it. Great Video!! 👍 I’m new to cb and want to do this exact install on my Tacoma.
It’s a basic universal L shaped mount that comes with almost all the connectors. Shouldn’t be more than $10
Clean install! 👍
Thank you. It definitely works
hey man great video, where exactly is the vent between cab and bed?
Right behind the rear drivers side seat
Hey, nice video. Question, where'd you mount the actual CB radio in your truck? Would you make a video on that? :)
Thank you. I used the handheld and just kept it near the center console. On my Jeeps I like to use an overhead Mount with an actual cobra style radio.

I didn't realize you can fish wires through the back of the cab there! Any recommendations to make this easier? Thank you!
Small hands or a hanger with the wire connected to it helps. It’s not easy but doable for sure. Good luck sir
Out freaking standing!! Thx
You’re welcome. Have a great weekend
Nice video, good looking rig
Thank you, have a great new year!
Any link to the specific L bracket you got, super clean look and want to replicate
Thank you. It’s just the normal basic one you can find on Amazon, truck stops etc
Question
I have a 2019 taco
Where did u get all the hardware u needed.
Angle bracket
Come with hardware?
What would I need for antenna
Hardware
Thanks
I just got it off Amazon, had everything I needed and you can mix and match whatever you need. Just got a universal L bracket kit that mounted to the antenna and then my own cable
Does this setup require a ground plain???
Running cable in the vent do you have a problem with water getting in?
Nope, it’s already open and just slides in
Any idea if I could just mount antenna directly to bed stiffeners? Would this be any different for a GMRS radio?
Sure, I don’t see why not. So long as it’s secure and has good line of sight range / little interference I don’t think you’d have an issue.
I have my cb installed in the back like yours with a different bracket. Do you have any issues tuning the radio?
I’ll have to keep you posted as I haven’t had the opportunity to tear it out
Where did you get your angle bracket? Like your setup and want to mimic. Thanks.
Amazon. It’s just a generic cb mount bracket.
Can’t find it on Amazon , could you post the link ?
@@FreedomCrawler Hi , Can’t find that bracket on Amazon , would you supply the link ?
@@jmegabite check out www.ragofabrication.com/ for some options.
Should have a ground to chase
What antenna did you use?
I use a fire stick but love having a tall whip. So either or.
@@FreedomCrawler oh ok, what do you know about the shark antenna on eBay it says it’s factory tuned?

The title is misleading. This is how to install a CB ANTENNA, not a CB.
Agreed, I should update it
First
Still waiting for our draw results but I’ll keep you posted

Nice!
Why would you mount it to the back of the bed???????? That looks so stupid. Everyone knows you mount them right behind the cab

I think it looks great!! That's where I'm putting mine as well! Great job
