You should turn the fireplace room into a play/school room so you don’t necessarily have to store everything away. Just tidy up daily.

We’ve had a really bad issue with ants here in Missouri this year too! Worse than ever! My mother in law gave me some “Terro” ant bait and it’s been working really well! You just set it wherever you have water and there is a sugary solution inside. The ants will go in there and take it back to their nests. Basically it dehydrates them and they go elsewhere to find food and water. It’s kind of scary for a couple days cuz the trap will fill up with ants, but then they clear out and go back to their nests after a few days.
Also, that extra room in your new house could be used for homeschool / crafts for the kids during the summer. Just an idea from one momma to another 😊 Thank you for being real and relatable 🦋
I am a retired homeschool mom and it’s great to get ready for the year to come ! Miss those years . My boys are in college now ( and doing very well ) . It’s the best years spending so much time with your children !!! Can’t wait to see what you do with your home .
I use lemons and it works great. No recipe just a lemon placed where you see them coming in and they will be taken care of. It doesn’t kill them it just repels them because they HATE lemons.😊🦋

Thank you in middle of craziness you still homeschooling. Don’t let it overwhelm you. You can always catch up later. Have kids go to the house and use math lessons while you redo your other house, spelling words can be house redo words like paint, nails etc lol. When it’s a busy season this is how we flow. During garden season we use it for our science and spelling lessons.😂
This is what I LOVE about homeschooling. You can take day to day life and make a lesson out of it lol. We are always learning 🤗

Fellow homeschooling mom here! My high schooler opt to continue school thru the summer because he has set his sights on graduating early 🥴. My middle schooler and my pre-schooler will start the same week here as public school, August 14th.

A white vinegar and water solution is a common method to wipe out ants for good. Ants don't like the smell of vinegar. It not only repels them; it can also kill them. Depending on how much you can bear the smell, mix at least one part vinegar and three parts water.
I'm organizing our homeschool items as well and restocking. Yes, an electric pencil sharpener is a must. LOL 💜💜🦋🦋

Terro ant bait is great! You put the little house (for lack of better word) with the liquid bait in it. No spraying involved and it works.

Peppermint tea bags! Put them where you see them coming in. I had an ant problem and I put them in drawers, cabinets, countertops, under beds, literally everywhere! 🦋
🦋🦋. Cinnamon repels ants, sprinkle where you want to keep them out. I’ve use it before and it works & safe for fur babies, children.

Kelly love your videos! I am a retired homeschool mom so I understand what you are going through. We use to start school the last week on July and then took winter break at Thanksgiving and did not start back until the beginning of the new year. We get out for summer break at the end of April because we went straight through with mo spring break.🙂
Oh no girl, the kids in this area start August 14th, 2023. I do not have children but fully aware from my neighbors and the fact that i live less than a mile from a elementary school and high school. So i hear when they start school and with the chaos that comes with all the kids starting school lol. great video.
You can do online school. I’m in Utah they give $1800 in allotted funds per student per year. You can still do everything your way and still have the credits they’ll need in the future. I suggest checking out what your state offers.

Baking soda and sugar. Mix them together and put them on a flat dish or directly on the floor where they are entering in a line (best). Basically they're attracted to the sugar and they eat it and the baking soda does them in because they're mixed together. It may take a little while to work like a week or 10 days but once it works they'll be gone for good.
I think your room with the fireplace would be perfect for a homeschool/crafts/reading room. 🦋

My older kids used to start school at the end of August. My baby now starts Aug. 7. But they get out at the end of may and they have 4 day school weeks instead of 5.
I got my daughter's back to school clothes and shoes at kohl's. Didn't really want to grab long sleeves and sweaters yet so we got a few jackets, jeans, shorts and shirts. Around end of August beginning of September that's when I shop for fall/winter clothes. I spent $96 for 2 pairs of addidas at kohls. I also got some cute shoes at walmart. So my daughter is good for now. Around fall I'll grab boots😊

We live in Georgia, too, and most of the kids are going back next week. When my nephew was in school, in Arizona, they would go back at the end of July. When I went to school, years ago, we didn't go back until almost September. However, we were out for 3 months in the summer, but got way less time off in the school year.
I saw the comments about making your dining room into your homeschool area and really like the idea. Then you could separate the larger area with the fireplace into a dining/play area. I think that would work so well for your little family. Can't waitfor house decorating content.
We go back Aug 9th, my kids go to a charter school!
We got out the end of May and the kids are starting back Aug 4. We staff and teachers go back tomorrow.

Ants like my bed too so I put any bait traps around the head of the bed on the floor...they also like my kitchen counter, trashcan and the cat's food so I keep the bait traps around them too and clean with a vinegar solution...
We used the borax and sugar too and it worked great for us too. Haven't seen one yet.

Hi Kelly, this is tried and true. Those ants are probably getting in through the windows. If you take ground cinnamon and mix with a bit of water to make a paste, open your windows and smear mix at base and corners of windows. The ants don't like cinnamon and will keep them from coming in. Later, when all this rain that's been hitting us lightens up, they will quit trying to come in. This paste will wipe up later and no harm to you guys or the fur babies. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋 😊

I’d recommend spraying the exterior perimeter of your house with termidor. You could put a bit of food grade diatomaceous earth around the feet/frame of your bed.
We are in New England, and we start end of august or 1st week of September. Homeschooler and ill follow the same schedule
Borax sprinkled on the area where they come in or seem to be the heaviest is a good remedy, except you would need to make sure your dogs and Rae, being so young wouldn't touch it. I also heard peppermint oil is good to repel them. I am so happy to see your "new" home. The kids won't have to get use to a different house, lol. Well, maybe Rae. I'm so glad the boys and Rae have their own rooms. They are getting older and will want to have sleepovers, so now you will have the room to allow them to. Great job, Kelly!
