  • The Sur-ron is not a MTB and not a Motorbike so requires a unique riding style to get the best out of it. This series will explain the differences, show specific Sur-ron techniques and offer constructive lessons on how to improve your off road riding skills. racespecsurron...

    I need to work on my pivot turns. I find it harder without a clutch.
    Thanks for the upload.

    This is awesome! The wheelie balance to the tree technique is awesome. Im trying to learn to wheelie on my surron. Im finding the throttle kind of difficult because it seems to give different power randomly.

      Do you have the grey gripped electronic throttle? We find the electronic throttle is less stable/more jumpy than the old cable pull speed controller. The sensitivity on the electronic throttle is greater as it has less mechanical resistance when turning, so easier to twitch the throttle, not sure if the electronic signal is an issue yet. The bike in the video has the newer electronic throttle. Prefer the old throttle but it's not as reliable given the greater complexity.

      @@racespecsurron1220 What I don’t get is that in the end, the cable throttle gets converted to an electric signal too. I assume the cable softens the micro movements one can do while riding.
      I’ve noticed that with custom controllers (tried BAC and Nucular) once properly dialled in, even with 3 times the power, you have a smoother more manageable throttle.
      Also it might be possible to have a better throttle feeling with an aftermarket throttle like the Domino.

    Outstanding. I am looking forward to this series and am curious when you might be able to get the upgraded controller dialed in. Cheers.

    Did you disconnect the e-brakes in order to do this kind of stuff? (I mean the engine cutoff thing, you know). Or is it in normal mode as it comes from the factory?

    • @racespecsurron1220
      @racespecsurron1220  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes you need to disconnect the brake cut offs. Newer bikes come with a wiring tail that connects to the battery allowing you to program/toggle the brake cut offs. Older bikes will need to disconnect brake sensor at the levers.

    I bought a Sur Ron in late Dec 2021, and I am using the stock tires. What's the best suggestion for increasing traction? I ride mostly on regular roads, so it could just be that the tires are more designed for off-road... But from time to time I feel as if my (back) tire is "sliding". Happens most often when there is a slight gradient difference in the road. I am sure everyone has encountered this if you've road a bike for any time, hopefully I am correctly describing the issue.

    One of the most informative video I've ever seen, thank you! I have a question, do you switch the power mode at all? I am asking because mine comes with electric 1/4 turn throttle, and the power mode is really not smooth, it's like just on and off. It makes it harder for me while practice jumping where I need the speed to be constant and smooth. Thanks.

      The Sur-ron in the video has the electric throttle and is run in sport mode. I find it stutters at very low speed heavy load and is more on off. You really need to be aggressive with the throttle and get your body in the best position to counter the force. On our 2WD Sur-ron we have the older style cable throttle, I prefer this as it is smoother and seams to be steadier.

    I have a standard trottle and it is impossible to do that. On the EP mode the front wheel cannot go up and on the sport mode the bike is jumping very quick…
    Do you use brakes? do you have any notifications?

    Thankyou very much great video! I just subbed. How tall are you I am 150cm (4.92 feet) and I don’t if I would fit the Sur Ron

      Likely the X would be great for you. You would have the option of the Youth Sur-ron if you found the X was too high. Try and get a ride on one when you can, a-lot of fun!
