As soon as they put the prosthetic on the elephant immediately took the weight off his good leg, like, ahhhh.......the elephant knows what's going on and must love those people

It's an instinct in all animals, elephants are beautiful creatures, but I used to ride horses and they rolled after a wash down. 🤣 The thinking is the dust and dirt helps repel insects and act as a sunscreen.

That is correct its an extra layer of protection against the sun and insects, almost all animals do this, my cats even do it to my annoyance.
Sand and water becomes mud and protects agianst insects and sun
My dog does that. We'll give her a bath and she just runs out to the backyard and rolls in the sand. It used to be kind of frustrating until I found out why they do that and now it just seems funny and cute.

OMG. They have done it! So many animals like horses and elephants put down because of a broken or lost limb. This is fabulous! What a sweet lovely girl! You should have missed her trunk you chicken! To make the elephant complete it needs a parrot on its shoulder, an eyepatch and a tricorn hat.
I can't even imagine the pain someone, let alone an elephant, will go through accidentally stepping on a land mine and losing a limb. May the flying spaghetti monster bless these souls.

May i suggest a spring loaded or shock obsorber kind of leg.. it would take a lot of strain off the down movement of the weight...
Giant spring in the false leg would take off weight
actually, in its natural standing position, the spring would be compressed, but when she would have to lift her foot she would have to lift it through that the compression() +the elevation she needs to give that foot from the ground and all that is not possible especially since she lost her knee too
Air suspension shock absorber would do the trick they can alter the psi
