When we first moved to Canada from the UK we lived in Ignace for 4 years then moved to Marathon for 18 years (both mining related} ,Thunderbay was our was our main city for everything except groceries , both of them 3 hours away on highway 17. That was in the early 80s it was a nice city , We moved to Barrie in 2003 and during a cross country trip in 2019 we stopped off in TB and did not recognise the place , my wife refused to go into one of the shopping malls because of the drunks laying outside. So sad.

Great video Danielle. I've lived in Toronto for close to 50 years and have travelled extensively throughout southern Ontario. The farthest north I've been to is North Bay. I look forward to visiting Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Timmins and Sault Ste Marie in the near future.

Thunder bay has a lot of problems, the ones she listed of course and others. Another thing is that there isn’t a lot of recreation, especially for young people. A theatre, a mall, the canada games complex pool/exercise facility, old fort william, the CLE in august and out door activities. But if you’re not really into outdoor stuff you’ll run out of things to do pretty quick.

Thanks for the video, Daniele, Very interesting. I was born in Fort William (in the 50's, not yet Thunder Bay) and I lived there throughout the 60's. It was a great place to live, beautiful downtown area and many friendly people. After my family moved away from Thunder Bay in '67, and moved to Sarnia, Ontario...I continued to visit my relatives every decade. Last time was the summer of '92. Immediately, I noticed many changes, like the downtown area was gone, replaced by a mall. My old neighborhood was not the same as well. Still, I had a great time while I was there. Now, about 7 years ago, a friend of mine travelled to TB for a job conference. When he got back home, he said, he would never go there for a vacation. He was shocked at some of the areas in the city. In other words, he knew not to go out at night. Hw asked me, you actually lived in that city? I informed him that TB was a great place to live, for me and my family. I have nothing but great memories of the city. Sure, it was a different time and era, when times were good, people were working, you trusted your your neighbors, even left your house unlocked at night. Everyone looked out for everybody. (Sounds almost like some sort of fantasy.) Important note: practically every city in Ontario has had it rough with a bad economy, high crime rate, racism, etc., but, we as Canadians will continue to endure, and face our problems, over the years. In ending (I know, I'm a bit long in the tooth) Let me say that I would like to return to TB for a visit one last time, to see friends and family and take in the nice memories I have of the time I lived there. Of course, before I do that, I will have to watch your next video, about the top 10 good things about the city and where I should go and not go. Take care, happy reality and continued success.

Come for the late spring to early fall. It's large enough to provide interesting things to see and do, but not a wide variety and not for long. There are no major urban areas less than 4-6 hours drive away. Thunder Bay is isolated in that regard, even more so for the long winters. Young people leave Thunder Bay. The job market can be difficult. As a northwestern hub for medical care, you will see all manner of physical, mental, and economic problems flow into Thunder Bay frequently, often temporarily, but steadily accumulating more permanent problems.
It's a quiet place to grow up as a kid, have kids, or retire. For anyone seeking something more worldly, invigorating, artistic, or modern... Thunder Bay is likely going to be lacking.

Thunder Bay is a beautiful small city with the Lake Superior at the horizon, man I really wished to move here but it seems apartments prices are expensive af!?
And also Thunder Bay’s crime rate is worse than Winnipeg, that is saying a lot since Winnipeg is considered as Canada’s most dangerous ‘major’ city

Don't know much about Thunder Bay, I've just seen it on maps. I'm thinking of moving to Canada because of global warming. It's kinda disappointing though, cause the perception of Canada is of honest hardworking people, wholesome and law abiding. Homelessness, crime, drug addiction etc. are not what people associate with CA.

Instead of developing a stand-alone video on reasons why people may not want to move to Thunder Bay it would have been more beneficial to take your Top 5 Reasons to Move to Thunder Bay and combine some
of the disadvantages into that video.
For example; while winters can be long, cold, and snowy, there are numerous ways to enjoy it,
including world class ski hills, a winter carnival,
and ice skating at the waterfront.
When the warmer months arrive, we don't
take it for granted, and we are fortunate to
reside in a city surrounded by a terrain that offers countless chances for activities
such as hiking, canoeing, and fishing (just remember to
    pack your bug repellent.)
While I appreciate your honesty and efforts to inform others of the potential downfalls of moving to Thunder Bay, I feel like you missed an opportunity to play both sides of the coin and come out with a more entertaining and attractive message for potential clients. PS your on camera 📹 presentation was excellent and the video itself was edited well. 👌

It's interesting to me that this video, which was second in the series is gaining so many views and feedback- it must be a bit better optimized.

Danielle, having lived in Sioux Lookout for 5 years and traveling to T Bay and Winnipeg from time to time, your ad is dismaying. After watching this, to listen to your next video on 5 positive things, won’t get much viewing. Your strategy is not entertaining. Delete this video and when you are promoting the positive, talk about how they will come to love the place…beautiful scenery, great fishing, boating/canoeing, skiing, etc. after we moved to “northern Ontario, we fell in love with it and didn’t want to leave!
