Right? haha when I got hit by that cliffhanger the first time I literally said "aw, fuck you" and started the next episode right away. I was binge-watching and by this episode I told myself I'd take a break but of course they had to hit me with that. It was calculated for sure

The old man telling the tug of war strategy is the most anime scene i ever saw in a show ever lol

The old man explaining the technique to win as they’re showing them is one of my favorite scenes ever. Everything about it is good.
The strobe scene is the scariest situation to me. At least with the games there are rules and everyone is “equal”. Here it is pure chaos and people revert to their base animal instincts in a free for all murder spree.

I agree with you about how well done tug of war set-up sequence was. The placement shots of the team with the voiceover of the old man’s instructions for getting them ready was probably my favorite sequence in the series.

And that’s Sangwoo, my fave character in this show. He is a complex person but at the same time really logical and relatable. Like I can understand all his actions, and maybe I will do the same If I was him. Lots of people hate him but not me.
Only one will be left standing, and he wants it to be him. Pure logic.
That cliffhanger was great. I had to watch the next episode immediately.

Still one of the best sci-fi shows I’ve ever watched. Three seasons of pure excellent narrative. Each season only got better.
i've seen a number of reactions, and it's curious how no one remembers in episode 2 ali complaining to his boss that he lost two fingers working for him for no pay.
Fr they didn’t show the hand clearly tho but i deffo remember that scene but every reactor I have scene to squid game never remember 💀
Even if you didn`t notie at ep 2 it is quite easy to conclude what caused it since we saw his boss hand being crushed

One thing I just realized as I am listening to your video, every time they show the PlayStation symbol workers getting ready for work or doing work, the music they play has a very “Willy Wanka Oompa Loompa” style and tone to it.

I remember watching 4th episode and thinking that I gotta get some sleep, so that will be the last episode for now... oh boy I was wrong :)
The show creators wanted the game staff people to be like ants. In the previous episode you could see when they were changing the players into their green uniforms, they kinda look like ants tending to eggs. Ants have a caste system like workers and soldiers. The game staff have similar with their shapes. Their music is like a lot of little legs walking, then the faster part out of sync is like tapping around with their antennae.

What would I do? I would stay a beggar and not go to Murder Island. One rigged game is enough for me without adding a second (Squid Game) to the list. Hey, I love this show. But there is no way in hell I would compete voluntarily.

Strangely in Canada the version we have there is no cliffhanger. We see the whole conclusion of the tug of war game in episode 4.

i watched some world class tug of war clips after this episode, turns out the alternate side positioning and holding the rope under your armpit ain't the strat they would be using.
Love James talking about balance and trying to get "right in the middle" at the start before he unknowingly watches an episode about Tug-a-War.

i also have a soft spot for the crazy lady, but wouldn't want her on my team.
Not counting the marble game I would want team up with her if my strategy is to survive as long as possible.
Ze is loud and annoying but overall was she the most straight forward person there.
Just don’t lie to her or fuck her over if she warnes you🤷🏼♀️
I think acting big and loud like her is actually the smartest way to do it, quiet and alone is seen as an easier target.

Sang-woo definitely didn’t want ppl who he had a decent history with to witness him playing the game as ruthless as he did. It would be a constant reminder of what he would stand for and the usual right or wrong bs
He was at the height of desperation and the last thing someone wants to hear who’s in his position is “no”.
I can even sympathize cause if I found myself playing and I was competing against people I grew up with holy shit I would be conflicted
First signs of Gi Hun slowly becoming more assertive and to some extend leader like he was the one to say that Sae Byeok is in their team he was put as tug of war leader too also he noticed he was tricked by Sangwoo but decided to avoid conflict reason why hes aid to Sae Byeok that the point i team up isn`t so much about trust

Shows aren't meant to be watched one episode at time anymore. Stitching them together like a limited series is better than a cut down movie or sequels.

This show is so far-fetched. If a bunch of rich people wanted a bunch of poor, desperate people to kill each other for their amusement they would just stir up a riot in the media. Failing that, for a lower-stakes event they could just have an annual over-hyped sale.
Take out the game and the instant death aspect and this is happening every single day
