- A look at some of the must-see moments of James Dutton in 1883.
#ParamountPlus #1883
1883, a Yellowstone origin story, follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. From Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of Yellowstone, 1883 is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land - Montana.

“ It comes real natural to me.” The most honest quote in this epic mini series. Well done Tim.
Fucked up part is the guy he was saying that to never cocked back his hammer. He was never going to shoot her. He was honestly explaining it to her.
@@steveneyerman2958-That man was still pointing a revolver at his little girl. So, do you really think he cared what that guy's quote "intentions" were?
@@thecowboy9698 There's a chance that James saw that, but I'm with you. lol
@@thecowboy9698 Exactly, it’s the principle lol
@@steveneyerman2958 So if someone was pointing a single action at your loved one you would let it slide because the hammer wasn't locked back?
“That’s my heart you’re running off with. You better cradle it like an egg”. That quote has stuck with me since I’ve heard it.
As someone who grew up fatherless and had poor taste in men, that line hits hard for different reasons.
The world needs good father's!
It doesn't mean nothing without nobody to back it up.
@@RandallWeeks that's when you need to back up your own heart.
When you discover noone has your back, back yourself.
"Also You do not love her the way I do" is also owsome
That’s because you have a good heart
Love how each generation of Dutton has a retired military family member. First James then Spencer and now Kayce.
Pretty sure John's meant to have served in Vietnam as well.
@@KS-xk2soi don't think he did, because his brother died, so he was nit allowed by his father, because of the ranch future. I can be wrong of course
In Yellowstone John has a talk with Kayce indicating he served as well
@@CasGenerations-cr7kt Not sure what conversation you are referring to, but I don't recall John ever saying he served and a google search gave me this: No, John Dutton III from Yellowstone was not in the military, but his son Kayce was.
@@KS-xk2so no he did not
My daughter is my first born. She is my heart & soul. Raised her to be tough in a mans world but still be a lady. She is everything a Father could ever want in a child. God fearing, tough, strong willed, hard working, smart, loyal to her friends & family & my best friend too.
ditto bro!🤟🤜🤛✌
Absolutely same thing with my daughter, she is 19 years old now and iv raised her to defend herself and not fear anyone and to never depend on anyone, and I'm so proud of the woman she is becoming. Stay safe sir and great job raising your daughter! They will always remember the effort and time we put into molding them.
Why do you think people give a damn??
I give a damn.
God fearing? I raised my kids to be critical thinkers and not be fooled by superstitions and charlatans.
The BEST series I've watched in a long time! Worth every minute!
Right, it’s one of my favorite shows ever, Taylor Sheridan’s writing was so fucking good for this one, and the cast was great - plus it came out at a perfect time for me personally, I was heavy into Native American books/history, especially about the Comanche, and this show was absolutely perfect for me - I love pretty much everything Sheridan puts together, Bass Reeves was pretty good too, 1923 was a little slow but still awesome, I think it’s gonna pick up in season 2 when Spencer gets back to the ranch and goes Rip mode on Ser Bronn of the Blackwater and the rest of them hooligans coming for their ranch
Thank you for your kindness
Hi😊
My grandpa used to be obsessed with old cowboy films. He was a badass of his own. Never thought I would grow up loving the same things but after experiencing Doc Holliday in Tombstone it was a wrap.
Español
Lonesome Dove
One of my favorite movies ❤️💯
My favorite western is called Shane. Ever looking for a classic gunslinger western to watch, check it out. My great grandma loved westerns and I first saw it at her house when I was little.
“IT COMES REAL NATURAL TO ME”!! Favorite part of the whole series. Tim’s played a few really good characters, but he absolutely killed it as James Dutton!!
When Sam told James that Elsa would rather be out chasing bandits with him than staying in a house, he knew Sam truly understood his daughter, and was the right man for her.
I dont really watch westerns but this was a masterpiece ❤
James Dutton is bad ass. He was one of my fave Duttons
I love all of the Yellowstone but 1883 is my favourite.

Same….I hard cried when Yellow Hair died
Tim McGraw, Sam Elliot, and Faith Hill were unbelievable in this series. But Tim McGraw really made this series great. I was floored by how good it was.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were good, most definitely. But I think Sam Elliott stole every scene he was in.
Some of the best television ever made in my opinion..
Sings and acts and does both very well. True artist.
McGraw was good and Hill was okay. Their RL marriage carried it for her. Elliot put on a master class and carried the show from decent to really good. After that all the minor actors also crushed it too beyond even the main case TBH.
The final scene almost broke my heart. As a parent, I can feel the heartache
I’m not a parent so I can only sympathise. Heartbreaking
I freaking hard cried. Worse than when Capt Gus McCrae died in Lonesome Dove…..only two times I’ve cried from a movie in my 57 years
When Isabel was shot in the stomach, I couldn't continue the series. These are some of the finest performances I've ever seen. Isabel and supporting showed perfection, but I had NO idea Tim and Faith could also act at such a level. Some of the script didn't quite seem period, but it was powerful. Beautifully crafted series.
This series left a mark on my soul
Mine too .I cry just watching these videos on U tube ,all over again .Everyone they cast in this series brought the characters to life ,I felt I was there ,on the trail ,by the wagon ,racing a horse or riding one ,We were all right there ,I felt the heartache they felt .It upset me the way Margaret and James died but I guess that's how it was back then ,life was a gift and a long life was a miracle .I can't wait to watch the next one 1923 ,I haven't seen in yet but I've watched a few clips with Helen and Harrison and I'm already in love with Spenser and Alex and it looks like We're in for more years .
@@AleisaEtheridge you definitely won’t be disappointed with 1923! You’re in for a real treat. The love story really has me yearning for that kind of romance but I guess it’s only in stories 😭 And yes, the way they passed (James and Margaret) was really sad, but I try to think of the journey and what that journey contained, rather than the ending. It was a hell of a ride, and sometimes death isn’t pretty unfortunately. Overall, a great universe that Taylor Sheridan has created ! I’m hooked haha
Man. Frs. I'm even the type to get all emotional about shows but damn. Elsa death really got to me. Especially that last scene in the last episode 😢
Mine too
Im 38 and i got deep into this show. Its like i felt the emotions. The last 2 episodes had me fighting tears in front of my old lady. Ngl
This is the best of the Yellowstone franchise.
Damn Straight
21:37 was my favorite scene, James showing his knowledge of battlefield wounds, and his ability to understand that even though it was his daughter, the reality of the situation wasn't dependent on age or willpower. Scene speaks volumes to how gritty times were, hope could only go so far
Knowledge of battlefield wounds 😂😅😂😅😅 arrow, covered in shit, no doctor or medicine....cmon lmfao, the children there knew. Now judging by this 2 inch broad head that hit a vital organ, my experience is telling me....😂
I had always held Lonesome Dove higher than any other TV program I had ever seen. Then 1883 came along and made me question that. Such amazing character development in both of them. Then there is the reality of just how hard life was, less than a century and a half ago. That is just 3 generations before me. They are both amazing takes on that era of our country and I love them.
Everyone says Elsa is their favorite character but James is my favorite character. He's such a badass.
Ella narrating this made it so much better
Dances with Wolves vibe
tim mcgraw should have won every award he was nominated for and not nominated for. his performance was nothing short of brilliant.
He's an anti gunner, a total sell out! Stay in LA, Nashville don't want you!
Man was brilliant in this
He was made for this role and it for Him ,I know he's talented but DAMM ,he made me feel like I was right there in every scene ,I felt his pain of knowing His Daughter was going to die and cried so hard when he cried ,everyone that started in that series brought it to life ,like We were all there ,across the plains ,on the trails ,We felt the pain they felt and the joy and I cried so damn hard ,it had my chest hurting but I'd watch it again .
To white
I originally watched 1883 right after finishing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time. Back-to-back rootin' tootin' Western genre depression.
10/10, recommend both.
Never heard of Red Dead Redemption but I’m going to look it up and watch it. Thank you 😊
@@debraernst3628 It's a video game. Someone has likely cut together the story bits a made a "movie" to wacth on TH-cam though
This was the best out of all the yellowstone spin off series in my opinion
This show doesn't get enough credit for the masterpiece it is. The fans of course give it praise but this is really one of the best series created.
Tim McGraw is extremely underrated as an actor. He’s killed it in every role he’s played.
He and his wife are both exceptional actors.
@@mt3311
Tim Yes.
Tim McGraw put his soul to bear in this performance. What a man 👏🏼👏🏼
I love the way Ella's and Sam smiled at each other.
Tim Mcgraw is one hell of an actor. Like seriously!
I loved 1883 as I live in the very cold Canadian winter and I can’t imagine how hard this was for these people. I love that the Duttons were able to forge strong friendships with the wise First Nations people who were and still are the rightful owners of this land .
24:25, the most emotionally gripping writing I’ve ever seen from Taylor Sheridan. And may ever see!
Hi
Hi yourself @@olalekan897
You should've included the scenes of James Dutton in the flashbacks from the actual Yellowstone series that took place in 1893. Those were badass.
I wish they would come out with another season. Truly amazing

Hands down the best TV show I've ever seen. I know I'm repeating myself, but it's just the truth. The ending was gut wrenching...
Totally agree,,, I was bawling when Elsa passed,,, 1883 is the best of them all.
A real man can only understand what it takes for another real man to cry. Its energy we try not to waste on things because it doesnt help. But when we lose something so precious and dear to us, we understand why. A broken heart is much different than a broken soul.
Yeah the classic bundling up feelings until it festers. What a load of wank.
Children have to go up like this !!! Father's & Mother's out there have to remember they will grow up some day to be like them also !!!
Best drama writing I've seen in a long time.
the cost of living to an old age is watching those you love go before you. the elderly do not fear death, they embrace it as an ending of pain and sorrow.
Thought I would never see a Western series as good as Lonesome Dove.... It only took 40 years, Maybe the Good Lord will bless Me with one more before I go.
I miss those mini séries if the 80- 90s. Excellent writing. North and South, Lone some Dove, War and Remembrance, and others.
Early Christmas present. A whole collection of my favorite TV character ever. James Dutton AS PLAYED by TIM MCGRAW!!
I didn't know this actor before watching this , glad I got to see him in action .. great guy
Truly an amazing 10 part TV show. With a stellar cast, beautiful pantoramic scenery. As well as putting one right there with John Dutton. As he went through his journey to find Yellowstone. I only wish this was a longer running shoe. 💪👃✨
Nice 🎉🎉
4:01 The most terrifying "sigh" you will ever hear. 🙂
Isabel May stole my heart, and Tim McGraw did an amazing job of acting.
Tim held his role strong
Tim Magraw is such an underrated actor!!
1883 was a masterpiece
The BEST Dutton.
Damn they were a different breed back then. I lament what we have become.
you're in good company Kevin i hate what we have become but we are still strong men th-cam.com/video/eq3MXSrKyk8/w-d-xo.html
Waaay better than Yellowstone. Wish this had been two or three seasons.
1883 is very good but would it have been after they settled on the ranch? Idk..Sheridan covered what happened pretty quickly in S4 of Yellowstone so I don’t think they would’ve had enough material plus they wouldn’t have had Sam Elliot either and he was a big part of 1883.
Made me start crying again when she died.
Me too.
Best series ever
I'll watch whatever Tim is gonna play in. What an actor. I'm sure he needs to be cast correctly, but when he is, he is gold.
Thank you for sharing this video.
This was SO much better than Yellowstone IMHO
Tim Mgraw was so fucking great in this series. I'm not a country music fan, but I've always liked his music, so for him to imbody, this character so well was awesome.
Really good series wish they would have made more episodes of 1883.
Sheridan definitely would have but Tim McGraw & Faith Hill said no because it wasn’t easy to film.,1923 has a strong cast as well and seems to be the 2nd part of the Duttons.
Literal perfection. 🫶
This whole mini series is better than both seasons 4 and 5 of Yellowstone
I'm glad you made this video, it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, $75k biweekly and a good daughter full of love
Bad ass James Dutton..
Too bad it only lasted 10 damn episodes
Yeah, I really enjoyed this show!!!!!

@@OneChubbSpencer going full Rip mode will be wild
Would have lasted much longer if it wasn’t on Paramount. I’m already paying an insane amount every month just to watch tv.
They could have hired plenty of good actors and actresses to play the Dutton parents in this series, but I really believe that the real life chemistry between Tim and Faith gave their relationship in the show another later of realism. They just give off this aura of being real. This mini series was absolutely tremendous. I honestly wish more shows would do this. Maybe not 1 season and only 8 episodes, but just the idea of knowing where it's going and knowing how long it will take. The only thing worse than a good show ending too early is a good show that overstays it's welcome trying to squeeze ever dollar possible out of the franchise. Which I get it, that makes sense as a business model, but story wise, I wish more shows did what this one did 💯👏🏼
Best part of this series was the daughters inevitable demise...and then she became the narrator for the sequel series....*deep sigh*
That ending… 💔
24:26 just realized that two duttons died in their fathers arms under the same tree
I couldn't agree more. Had me in tears damn it but I don't care. Sometimes even the toughest men need that. Beats holding all that shit in forever and not being able to do nothing with it. I mean fists fights are great and all but getting arrested and spending time in jail I'll pass
And a bird appeared both times
Holy shit Tim McGraw is one of the best and probably most underrated actor of our time. Incredible stuff from him, good grief that was magic.
Absolutely brilliant series, just a shame there wasn’t more of it
Good stories can end in 10 episodes. Better than drawing it out for terrible story telling.
Eh. Although I loved 1883 and would’ve watched 10 seasons of it with a smile on my face…sometimes less is more. Better to be left wishing it never ended than wishing it would just end already. Kind of like Walking Dead 😂
Pulled out a MF Rolling Block Rifle. What a G

It's not a movie. It's a series. And I'm certain you're a bot.
Im gonna watch this whole thing. I loved Lonesome Dove, and this looks very much like it.
The best Series
Some of the best acting in any series ever. Tim and Faith were incredible. Isabel May should receive every award that's available to be had. This is even better than the great Lonesome Dove.

I love that this show was basically the live action Oregon trail.
"You died of dysentery" 😅😅😅
This is a really such a fantastic movie👍👍👍👍👍👍
Kurt Russel as one of the cowboys headed to Fort Worth. No fanfare. Just there.
Elsa dreamed it. John and Margaret found it. Jacob and Cara made it prosper.
This show in the sequel 1923 are amazing😊😊😊😊
They could have easily made this a long running series. I liked it more than Yellowstone
he should do a western in this period not related to yellowstone
Good God damn that's an amazing show
Yes he was great
"I don't forgive me, " had me fighting shadows.
Tim McGraw absolutely kills this role every time. Wish we could see more of him. Liked him better than Jacob, personally.
Only the best for this show!❤❤❤❤ wardrobe, can you pass me the thread!🎉

Relax she falls in love again in like 2 episodes lmao , she doesn't seem to love him all that much haha
Bro I swear Tim McGraw did a great job as James Dutton knew he could sing didn’t know he could act
Tim and Faith are better actors than they get credit for.
They are for sure
Heaven help themselves, I understand the Duttons. My grandparents came up the hard way.
I still hope that Jaime Dutton is redeemed.
