  • We had to remove just the one-piece fiberglass shower in this bathroom. Precise cuts in drywall were done with Fein's MultiMaster and the fiberglass was cut into 4 separate pieces for easy disposal. For more details on Fein's oscillating multi-tool promotion visit Home Repair Tutor

    Nice video, but after demo'ing my bathroom my tip is to use a short (4 inch or less) reciprocating saw blade with fine teeth (mine was marked for metal cutting). It worked much better than the long coarse toothed blade you showed in this video. Also, the shorter blade decreases the change of hitting anything behind the wall.

    Another fantastic video guys. I mean even to the point where you show the water shut-off at the beginning. It's all about the details. Well done. Very well done.

      thanks man, we really appreciate all your support and kind words. This shower turned out great and all started with the demo. We had to keep the rest of the bathroom, including the floor. So demo needed to be very precise!

    You cut your video off at the only part I needed. Why not show how you removed the pan from the drain? Did you cut it?

    I have a similar project, though I intend to convert the shower into a storage cubby (it's in the garage and unneeded). How would you recommend permanently sealing the drain and shower connections?

    Why did you not use the Fein on the walls and base?

    It was very disappointing seeing that the builders never insulation or even used water proof material building this bathroom...

    Where can I find the second video? This seems to be a problem on TH-cam. The video says the next video, but it's something completely different. If you have more than one video, please make a playlist if you're not already doing that.

    At least this shower had support under it. Mine has NONE. Started to feel it bend under my feet. Was quoted $8k to remove and replace it. Ughz ill take my chances.

    Do you have any tips for removing the drain thats left with the cut out of fiberglass still remaining?

    • @MrNobodynotime
      @MrNobodynotime 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many of those drains are screwed onto the lower part of the assembly, so quite possibly they were able to unscrew the top part of the drain with the little bit of fiberglass from the lower part of the assembly.

      There's a tool out there specifically for removing drains. I know this is 2 years too late to help you but maybe someone else will stumble upon your question & need the answer.

    I dont know why everyone hates these things so much. You never have to worry about caulking shit and 5 minutes of lght cleaning makes it look brand new. Also, watch videos of people taking these things out and notice there is never any water damage; its always a half-ass tile job and allowing the caulking to get compromised over the years. Another example of people choosing form over function.

      Well our “no water damage guaranteed” fiber glass shower cracked down the bottom due to some moron who installed it wrong... no water damage yet because we are ripping it out!!

    I had a question about your removal process of the fiberglass shower stall... why did you have to cut the shower stall in sections and cut the sheetrock just to remove the shower stall? Why can't you just cut along the caulking around the edge of the fiberglass shower stall and then just remove the entire fiberglass shower stall in one piece? Thus not needed to damage or cut away any piece of the sheetrock?

      For me, I wouldn't be able to get it out of my bathroom as an entire unit and it appears to be that way for the space they were in. Hope this helps.
