    Best place for the probe is inside the airbox. You can cabletie it to the air filter support - putting it there meets all the requirements. I took mine off again because it actually made no difference. I guess I got a Monday afternoon engine 😆 I recently added a Carberry plate and found that I didn't need to adjust the cam backlash, thus adding to the Monday afternoon engine theory.

      I must admit I hadn’t thought of putting it inside the air box. It seems to do the trick where it is though, it’s a significant improvement. I had considered the Carberry plate but after a couple of thousand miles the vibrations dissipated to a comfortable level, or I just got used to them 🤔
      Many thanks and best of luck with yours 👍🏼

    If any of you guys ever have a problem with Royal Enfield parts or bikes, talk to Hitchcocks. They might be slightly more expensive than you are used to, but they are damn good when it comes to returns or after sales. I found them brilliant when I returned an exhaust last year and they replaced it, no probem. Straight forward and no messing.

      Thank you! You may feel differently if your throttle is snatchy and you experience surging at low speeds. On the other hand it might not bother you and you’ll make allowances. Or maybe yours doesn’t suffer any of those symptoms. I hope you enjoy the bike as much as I do mine. All the best 👍🏼

    Checking back in after installing the booster plug this morning - have to say a big thank you ! first ride and it was a heck of a lot smoother with way less vibrations through the bars which has always annoyed me. Its blown away all those feelings of regret at buying the 500 instead of the new 350 - wonderful ! thanks again - we must be the same vintage, I'm June 73 :)

    Hi mate, can you advise me as I'm beginning to wonder about Hitchcock's, I have a bullet trials 500, 2020 model, so same engine as yours. I have fitted a Zard silencer but are worried it might be running to lean, bike runs great with pipe on and us running standard air filter and NGK plug. Does this gadget enrich the mixture do you know to compensate for the free flow silencer, cheers.

    • @Saddlebags73
      @Saddlebags73  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I’m afraid I’m not sure if it compensates for the free flow exhaust. But its role is to enrich the mixture. If you don’t suffer from any surging, snatching throttle, or spark plugs rapidly burning out, it may not be of much benefit. Sorry I can’t be more concise, but hope that helps 👍🏼

    I am a indian, in india if just see any street it will have a royal Enfield running on it. I too own a Classic 350 Redditch Edition BS4. If you all are planning to buy this bike out of india make sure you are ready to face a bit small issues like cold start , no fuel indicator etc. If you don't want some problems but a EFI varient but it doesn't has the raw mechanical feel or pure Royal Enfield feel. Non EFI one are not having ABS but they have the best ride quality according to my experience

    All these problems with fuelling is created by the bureaucrats and pollution. The leanness can cause engine damage. On my carbed bikes I always took it to a dynatune and had slow running jet either drilled out or a bigger jet replaced, the difference was phenomenal esp on bt1100 twin massive piston strokes with jerky throttle, completely eliminated. They all run fine when giving it some welly. Glad this was worth it.

    • @Saddlebags73
      @Saddlebags73  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s quite frustrating. I’m thinking of getting one for the Himalayan too, as no doubt that’s running too lean. I suppose they are working on the premise that we’ll all want electric bikes soon so engine longevity is less important than fuel consumption 🤦🏻‍♂️

      @@Saddlebags73 my bt1100 v twin shaft drive all day comfort only 65hp but fell like a monster torque and could keep with most to 80. However, no more carbs for me. I had to strip them every 3 months due to rough running( jelly) found everywhere due to lovely fuel we have. Big job on that bike, no petcock and no carb drains. Both carbs in between v block and snorkels were cracking £180 each. So gave up even though was lovevof my life. Quite rare and always drew attention. Sensational to ride and shaft. No more oily dirty jobs😁. 2005 and swing arm and whole bike immaculate unlike newer stuff.. if carbs accessible would have kept it. Tried running on high octane fuel still did it. I knew everytime as refused to idle or idled erratically

    There are consequences for fitting things such as these it voids warranty and may potentially damage the engine especially these uce 500 which have an old engine architecture for the 1940s

    • @Saddlebags73
      @Saddlebags73  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChronicTHCBlaze I believe not fitting one would do more harm. These bikes run excessively lean in order to comply with the regulations. The booster plug is not like a power commander, it simply richens the fuel mixture enough to eliminate the issues caused by running too lean.
      It would void the warranty, although it’s a reversible process. I voided mine by servicing the bike myself anyway.

      In a closed loop efi the ecu adjusts itself according to the sensor's values...so this is what it does here they tricks the ecu to give a richer mixture making the ecu thinks that the ambient temp is colder than usual!

    • @Saddlebags73
      @Saddlebags73  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi 👋🏼
      The mirrors were incredibly easy to fit. They come with an expanding bung which goes inside the bar, but the Classic has nuts welded in the bars. Simply remove the bungs from the mirrors and bolt them on. You could remove the bar end weights or leave them in place. If you leave the weights on, ideally you’d want Allen bolts 10mm longer, although I have used the originals.
      Hitchcocks sell blanking screws for the standard mounting holes.
      Hope that helps 👍🏼

    Very interesting video. My new Royal Enfield classic 500 just arrived home a few days ago and according to the dealer (and my research) it was the last classic 500 in all Spain so I feel really fortunate. I’m a newcomer to motorcycling so your videos are helping me a lot to understand how to maintain and modify the motorcycle. I noticed the tool kit that’s included with the motorcycle is quit limited and I’m already going to have to buy a few more tools just to be able to remove the back seat. It would be greatly appreciated if you could make a video or list of all the tools anyone will ever need to disassemble and reassemble his classic 500, I’m sure many subscribers would find this useful.

      @Saddlebags73  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! |First, congratulations on the new bike. You are lucky to find one at this point in time. And especially lucky to have the last one. Welcome to the 'Royal' family.
      As motorcycle tool kits go these days, the one that comes with the Classic is actually quite comprehensive. My z900rs came with a screw driver. I kid you not.
      I would consider doing a video on tools, but in all honesty, that's an awful lot to cover. Most routine things can be carried out with a ratchet, socket set and extension bar, a set of spanners and screw drivers. You may need specialist tools if for example, you wanted to fit a Carbery vibration reduction plate. But other than that, basic tools should suffice.
      Is Spanish your first language?
      Many thanks for your comment.

All this makes me want to go and do a bit more research! (i.e. could I get away with just adding a resistor to the existing temp sensor for the same effect?, etc....)
