    I had my daughter when I was 17, judged by everyone. I’d been with my partner since I was 13. I’m now 22 married to her daddy, we got married 4 months ago. Rented a property and brought our house 3 years ago. Our daughter is 5 and wow she’s amazing. Best thing I ever done. Don’t regret a minute of it. You’ve done an amazing job with your boys and how your life has planned out x

    I don’t know why people judge. I was an older mum at 36, but I can absolutely see why it makes sense to have kids in your early 20s.

    • @EllisSaraSmith
      @EllisSaraSmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don’t think people should judge either way! It’s completely down to personal preference whether you choose to have children earlier or later in life and I don’t get it either 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just feel there’s so much more judgement towards those that do have children younger xx

    • @mrshadenoughofallthis911
      @mrshadenoughofallthis911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I think younger mums are judged more. When actually from a biological point of view it is far more sensible to have kids young. With hindsight I would have had mine younger.

    Your story is so similar to mine! I fell pregnant at 21, I'm now 21 and due in a few weeks time. We are also waiting on our new build to be built which is due just after the baby so we are living with my parents. Young mums can do it just as well as older ones :)

    I was 20 when I had my first, her father and I broke up when I was 8 weeks pregnant. We remained on good terms.
    When I was 12 weeks pregnant he met his wife, they married when our daughter was 20 months, her stepmum has known her from birth, I attended their wedding and consider my daughter's stepmum to be a good friend, she's a wonderful woman. They have 5 kids now too.
    I raised my daughter mostly on my own until she was 5 when I met my husband, we have been together 12 years, married for 9.5 and have a 9 year old son and 7, 5 and 3 year old daughter's, however he considers my eldest to be his first child, he is her dad in every way that counts except blood.
    My eldest is 16 now, she is funny, kind, loyal and beautiful inside and out and we are very close.
    The way it happened for me wasn't the traditional way but I wouldn't change a moment, I'm proud of the young woman my daughter is growing into and I know a big part of that is due to me, and she has 2 sets of parents, 4 sets of grandparents and 9 siblings who adore her....who could ask for anything else.
    I enjoyed hearing your story, thank you for sharing

    I went out and did all my partying, drinking, Girly holidays and travelling in my early twenties and didn't meet my man until i was 29. Have never wanted children until now i have just turned 35 and am now planning to start a family. Which equally receives the same negative opinions for different reasons. I get the arn't you a bit old, Your be an old mum, you won't get to enjoy your life like you have. why have you changed your mind so late. But that's the life choices i have made. As i am sure yourself and Adam diod what was right and felt right for you. I am so excited for the next chapter in my life and can't wait to tell my child all about my travelling antics. Cheers to us. Old Mums, Young mums, Mums who can't wait to be mums. who cares as long as we do our best to be a great mum. xx

      Everyone is so different, there are positives and negatives for having children at any age/stage of your life. Im almost 38 and have just had my 4th baby and we want to have one more before I am 40 and then that will definetely be it. We had our first when we were both 28 so there will be a big age gap between eldest and youngest but so what. I am loving being a mum and that is my job and there will be a time when they will all be grown up and moved out and will find a new direction in life :)

    • @EllisSaraSmith
      @EllisSaraSmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn’t agree more Sarah! For me I believe everyone is entitled to have children whenever the hell they want. Everyone has different experiences and what they want out of life. My plan was never to have children young and then it changed when I met Adam. No matter our age we shouldn’t be judged for being too old, too young or whatever else. Mums get judged for having one child or ten children xx

    I’m 20 and in a very similar situation to you. Me and my partner bought our first home together last November (when I was 19 and he was 21) and now want to start trying for a baby soon but was worried about the judgement. But we’re financially stable, have our own home, and I have PCOS so have no idea how long it will take to conceive. You’re video has really helped and put things into perspective so much, so I wanted to say thank you for that❣️

It's better to have them young if you can as you can enjoy it. It's always been like that, even in the early days. Women can have babies at 11 lol so it says a lot about our biological clock. X

    I totally relate to you with most of the groups I went to with my daughter... I had her at 25 and she's now 3 and I'm now 29 and 35wks pregnant with my second. I still find I'm the youngest mum at nursery drop off & at any groups we go to.. There are a couple of mums I have met who are a similar age as me who I met at sing& sign, but the vast majority are 35+ and I completely felt like the odd one out at 25, going to NCT classes with other 35+ first time mums. Had I continued in a stable relationship, I was ready and willing to have children at 17.. I've always wanted to be a mum and I trained to become a nanny to kind of fill that void of wanting a baby- unfortunately I've still not had a stable relationship and I am a single mum, for the vast majority of my daughters life and am now too. I live at home with my parents still and would love to hear more about how on earth you could afford your own house at 19, as well as budgeting in general x

I’ve received alot of negativity and nastiness due to being a young mum, and look where I am now, have done so much more than alot of people my age I know who haven’t had children. I was 16 when I fell pregnant, turned 17 in the may, got my own house in the June and had my son in the August.
    My family were luckily very supportive and my son was also planned.
    Sounds bizarre but I lost my mum when I was only 3 weeks old so becoming a mum was something I really wanted to do.
    I'm now 24 and My son is 7.
    I have not went on to successfully have anymore (3 miscarriages, 1 late misscarriag)
    So tbh, I don't regret my choice to have a child at 16. Sometimes I think my body has given up the idea. X
