R32 is a great car and as people get older who appreciate these they see the value even at 20k, they are a more engaging drive then a new Golf R at a fraction of the price. You’re buying a motoring experience.
What is the point of owning a car and drive only 3000km per year. The cost of insurance, road registration and depreciation properly more than renting a car for weekend drive away. Unless he own a business then he happy to sell whatever the price to th dealerafter 5 years.
