Every time I hear or read God’s Holy Name being Blasphemed or called in vain, Ex. OMG, which is everywhere! I say “Blessed be God, blessed be His Holy Name.” The IHM nuns taught me that 60 decades ago-I’ve prayed it many countless times. Also, if someone you know is taking God or Jesus’ name in vain, explain to them why it is wrong to do so-you may save that soul from Hell.
I would like to share a very good, simple prayer for this. This prayer was said by our Lord to wound his heart delightfully, and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy. May the most holy, the most sacred, the most adorable, the most mysterious and unutterable Name of God be adored, praised, blessed, loved and glorified, in heaven, on earth and under the earth, by all creatures formed by his sacred hand, and by the loving Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Blessed Sacrament of the altar. Amen Please pray this often if you can, as a simple means of participating in Spiritual Warfare. I pray it whenever I see or hear someone use the Lord's name in vain. It's not much, but I hope it helps. Also please try and share this prayer with others if you can.
Are you by chance from Philly? I've only heard us Philly folks refer to the IHMs. Great advice. I'll never forget the advice from the Sisters of Mercy about letting our Rosary Crosses swing. They told us that we were giving the devil a ride. I am still always so careful with mine, even when I am saying it. You never know where those Sisters got those sayings from - maybe Guardian Angels!
