Not everyone is fortunate enough to be about to own a $2k+ pc plus peripherals….. so i find having these more budget friendly items available to the public is a great thing imo! Especially when people are newly getting into PCs and want to explore what high quality graphics and high refresh rates can offer users.
It is really good I just bought like 2-3 weeks a go AOC g2 165mhz 1080p 24inch monitor, It was also around 150$ I have Nvidia, so I am using G-SYNC, and all games are very smooth very happy with it, very happy. For me that is also the monitor I suggest for low-budget if anyone is looking for something else :)
Same here I bought about a month ago. The older models used to be Adaptive sync compatible (at least that's what was written in on/off mode in menu) but the new g2spe is G-sync compatible. I use AMD card but there's no problem. The image is great and little to no ghosting on the panel. And that unit's advantage to this 180Hz msi unit is that it has both hdmi and dp cable included in the box.

I've heard some people and also seen in some games that adding a crosshair in games that don't have one could help with motion sickness. So that option is useful in this way too :).
I'm running a simple 1080p60 monitor from BenQ with my RTX 2060 since 5 years. Recently upgraded my computer to a Ryzen 5 7600 and will soon be upgrading to an RX 7800 XT graphics card. Just ordered this monitor and I'm hyped!
Great review, was looking at this one compared to a LG UltraGear monitor that i was looking at but at least ive got it narrowed down to two now. ( also i know you probably won't see this, but 6:15, you pulled out everything but a gun lmao)
Have you thought about using portable "monitors" as a desktop display? They're way cheaper than normal monitors and its not because their specs are bad but rather cause they're smaller. You can also pair them with a "tablet arm mount" which acts like a monitor arm so you can use it at a desk and bring it closer to your face. Other than decent specs for a good price you also get higher PPI (at the expense of screen real estate ofc). They're very good, typically between 10.1in - 18in
Absolutely insane price for the specs!! On another note, Steve do you have a Radeon VII? Rich from Digital Foundry's one is broken and he pondered whether you have one he could borrow 😂
I remember back in 2018 getting the ASUS PG248Q that has almost the same specs as this one (it's slightly worse), except for double the price. Gaming peripherals have gotten cheaper and higher in quality these past couple of years.
Going from 60hz to 180hz must be similar to going from 1080p to 2160p! I recently had the opportunity to upgrade, holy pixels Batman I’ll never go back✌️😅💯
I got a 180hz AOC 24" gaming monitor off Amazon a few months ago for like $110 USD to accomodate a 5600x/rx7600 build I did. 180hz on a 1080p 24 inch screen looks and feels very nice, and I am a 1440p guy. If you cant shell out the money for a 240z 1080p, or can't be bothered to, these 180hz displays are a valid option.
Nice, it seems like the cost of several of these higher-refresh monitors is coming down without cutting many corners. If this is to become the new "normal", it really does need to be at an accessible price, and it looks like we're finally starting to get that. I think just about everyone with a gaming PC owns a lighter game or two, and/or would be willing to drop some settings here and there to see what high-FPS gaming is all about. Also: I think you mentioned this, but if you lock your game to 120FPS on a 180Hz display, have VRR / Adaptive Sync turned on, and hit a bit of stutter or drop below (or just tip over above) 120 momentarily, the monitor can keep up just fine and it'd hardly be noticeable. So, whatever FPS you're shooting for, VRR really does sound like it's give you flexibility to leave tearing behind and not have to use traditional VSync to do so. I believe turning VRR off and allowing tearing technically gets you just slightly better input latency still, but it's getting to the point of being so little latency you may just want the VRR on even if you're a person who craves quite a low-latency experience. When the hardware is capable of all of this, you can turn on/off settings as you please, try a bit of everything, and set it to what you actually want on the day of. Not locked in to anything. And again, with prices becoming reasonable, there's not much reason not to -- if already needing a new monitor, it may as well be one that can do high FPS and VRR at this point.
That is a really good price. I was £220 on a 30" 200Hz but it is an ultrawide and with that comes more cost as you need to make sure you are aware of how much more taxing the UW is on the gpu. I already use a 7800xt so it isnt a big fps drop for what I do. I will look into this for the kids pcs as they are both using 24" monitors that are a bit tired.
After experiencing 165hz+ monitors, what makes you go back to a 75hz on the daily when you have the option for higher? I get that you're a more budget oriented channel but 120hz and above is so common now. You're a mad lad!
I just got a 32in LG ultra gear a few weeks back. I both love and hate the size cause now I find myself frequently adjusting my head way more but at the same time playing games on such a large scale at 1440p 165fps is pretty incredible, at least when I can hit 165fps which is like in 2 or 3 games all of which are a decade or 2 old.
I went from a 4k 60hz to 1080p 165hz and the better response time is worth it over the resolution in my opinion 1080p still looks great and doesn’t stress your GPU as much
I went from playing 60 hz on TV to playing 120 hz on a responsive 1440p IPS moniter last year. One of the best gaming decisions ever. Being a console player, I always attributed my bad aim to playing on controller. Turns out my aim's not half bad when the latency is cut way down. Edit: also got the wired gamesir Xbox controller with hall effect sticks which helps too.
I didn't buy this monitor specifically, but I had another 1440p 180hz monitor that I played @120 fps 1440p with the series x (it has a HDMI 1.4 I think). This one having HDMI 2.0 should work.
I'm glad you are enjoying the high refresh rate experience! But what if I tell you that this is not even the cheapest you can get to have a high refresh rate monitor. Because I got mine for under 70 USD back in December. High refresh rate monitors are getting cheap and I'm all for it.
this is a 1:1 copy of LG's ultragear budget monitors. they took everything from the power and scroll button to the front bezzel design and the io setup. it even has the slight lower bezzel bump that LG's monitors have. maybe they have a deal with LG to sell rebranded monitors?
How was the backlight bleeding on this monitor? A lot of budget IPS displays (and sometimes even higher end ones) tend to leave brighter spots around the edges, would like to see how it was for you.
Looks fantastic, great for high fps shooters etc. I got an rtx4080 to get high fps on my alienware aw3423dw that’s 175hz, but still prefer to enable dldsr etc and am happy at anything over 60fps. I was playing max payne 3 tonight max settings, x8 msaa and dldsr 2.25, it was at 25-35fps 😅 excellent looking game and great to try out with the crazy settings, went back to native res getting 120fps average.
It's nice to see high refresh rate monitors becoming affordable, but I feel like a slower 1440p monitor would give a better experience. Honestly it feels a little weird using my 27" 1440p monitor sometimes after getting spoiled by my 40" 4k tv. Although to be affordable the tv does make some sacrifices in response time and is limited to 60hz.
Since you do budget monitor reviews, could you cover the Sansui ES-G24X5 or whatever the UK equivalent is? My current monitor has a lot of ghosting because of the slower budget VA panel. The Sansui ES-G24X5 is actually their flagship monitor. It’s a 24” 1080p 165Hz monitor with an IPS panel. Despite being their Flagship monitor, it’s only $105 (USD). As until I can get the Corsair Xeneon Flex, I need a monitor with a much faster response time. And IPS panels tend to have much faster response times than equivalent VA panels, especially at the sub $200 range. As I didn’t realize a VA panel would be this slow in regards to response time. As I have 2 other screens. One is my main TV which is a 65” OLED and a 30” Sanyo HD CRT. I don’t have ghosting on either set because of the near instantaneous response time of OLED, and the instant response time of the speed of light for the HD CRT because of the electron gun. I have an HD CRT for my PS3.
I've always though gaming monitor market is really volatile, at least I've scored some good deals in Finland in the last two years. Asus 27" 280Hz for 239€, MSI 27" 144Hz for 109€. Both 1080p, though, but at least they're IPS.
I have 27" 1080p 144Hz Free Sync monitor LG 27GL650F and really don't need much more. Performance is great on my 3070ti and if I have some to spare I can enable nvidia DLDSR 1440p and get better visuals, better Anti-aliasing. Can't go back to 60Hz.
Got the 144Hz version of this monitor a couple years back, and yeah, I never use any of the extra features. Great little monitor, though I struggle to see much difference after about 90fps or so, but maybe that's just my... let's just say over 40... year old vision. Kinda hacked off that I paid so much(£280), but that was just the standard price for a higher than 60Hz monitor back then.
For the really budget concious buyer there are cheaper 1080p options that don't have the "Gamer" premium marketing that they charge extra for . For example there are several 100Hz 24 inch models including an MSI Pro model for £89. I f I was doing an ultra-budget setup I'd include one of these.
for another video would you rather have a higher refresh rate 1080p or a 60-75hz 1440p monitor ..... i know it is not a fair comparison but it would be nice to know because usually the hardware that can push that many fps at 1080p can easily do 1440p 60hz
Just wondering what is the adaptive sync range of this monitor...will it sync from 30fps upto it's highest refresh rate or is the adaptive sync a narrow band like a some cheap monitors
Hyee sir...is this monitor good for gaming like..gta 5 rdr2...and do you notice a black smearing sir...hope you answer my question because i need a opinion...im planning to buy this monitor to
Hello, I just got this monitor 2 days ago, and it has some backlight bleeding on the top left which kinda annoys me, and seeing from your video the one that you got doesn't have any backlight bleed. Ik backlight bleed is common on IPS, but seeing everyone get this monitor without bleeding really confuses me. Should I return it ?
You talk a bit about benchmarking csgo for years and not getting any better at playing it and i would say to try lowering your sensitivity, just by the way you look around in games i can tell your sensitivity is very high and that is likely effecting your ability to aim precisely. It really doesn't take that long to get used to once you commit to it.
Lower the sens and moving the whole arm to aiming? I've tried this method again and again but I'm always going back using high sens with wrist aiming method.
Can you show accurate use data like how many percent srgb, then test response time in every hertz, we need like that to compare if this monitor was worth it or no....
I was just looking on this, this your video suddenly pops up. I'm currently looking at this and ASUS TUF VG249Q3A. Which you think is the best for it's price?
Are there significant differences in color performance and brightness between the G244F E2 and the G255F monitors? The ADOBE RGB / DCI-P3 / SRGB / Brightness(nits) specifications are as follows: G244F: 94.4% / 92.05% / 122.88% / 250 G255F: 82% / 78% / 99% / 300 My PC specs: CPU: R5 1600 GPU: GTX 1070 I'm wondering if the G244F E2 would be a better choice for activities like watching Netflix and playing AAA games such as 2077 or Elden Ring
G244F E2 is worse than G255F and the first G244F, so don't. those percentage only represent the wideness of the color gamut and not the color accuracy.

I have an MSI monitor and love it
Are you going to review the 3050 6GB? Just came out, not making many waves though.
Yes hopefully. Got a couple of models in mind I’d like to look at!
CANT WAIT! @@RandomGaminginHD
5:55 my man who cares if you play well or not. You have 522k subs as of now. That's the thing you do best.
Hah, I remember using a small tear of paper that I moistened with my spit to stick onto the monitor as a makeshift crosshair when I was a kid.
I am getting this monitor in monday 😁
great vid man keep it up
Real question, why do you daily drive a 75Hz panel, even 144Hz feels SOOO much better(although I'm sure you know that) so what is the reason?
Now you need to get that 4K OLED screen that can do 1080p480. It'll still fit your channel's name. 😄
It seems like AOC has released a new 24G4 series with the exact same panel.
I've always though gaming monitor market is really volatile, at least I've scored some good deals in Finland in the last two years. Asus 27" 280Hz for 239€, MSI 27" 144Hz for 109€. Both 1080p, though, but at least they're IPS.
after going 1440p 144hz, i cant see myself going back...
Does this monitor work with g-sync?
the MSI G255PF E2 might be a better option it also has a better stand plus they are usually the same price
My monitor, less than a year old, already has a dead pixel. This is looking pretty enticing
No pues Felicidades, gracias por avisarnos, estábamos con el pendiente 😂😂😂
What sorcery is this? I just searched this monitor 5 minutes ago and this video came up
I've the G244F E2. 180Hz. best budget monitor.
AOC 24g2 or the spe version is still a tad bit better if it's cheaper.. specially since it includes the dp cable in box too
@@upfront2375 mine came with HDMI n it can reach that 180Hz.
@@upfront2375a bit better in what terms?
Hey mate I bought this monitor yesterday and it’s capped at 60hrz I have a good graphics card so I don’t know what is wrong with it?
Did you tried going into the display settings on windows and putting it in 180hz?
Or If you are using nvidia, going into the Nvidia control panel?
Does this have a vesa mount?
1:14 is this what you mean ?
Got the 144Hz version of this monitor a couple years back, and yeah, I never use any of the extra features. Great little monitor, though I struggle to see much difference after about 90fps or so, but maybe that's just my... let's just say over 40... year old vision.
Kinda hacked off that I paid so much(£280), but that was just the standard price for a higher than 60Hz monitor back then.
Yeah amazing how much monitors have dropped price wise!
You dont have the samsung odyssey anymore?
For the really budget concious buyer there are cheaper 1080p options that don't have the "Gamer" premium marketing that they charge extra for . For example there are several 100Hz 24 inch models including an MSI Pro model for £89. I f I was doing an ultra-budget setup I'd include one of these.
for another video would you rather have a higher refresh rate 1080p or a 60-75hz 1440p monitor ..... i know it is not a fair comparison but it would be nice to know because usually the hardware that can push that many fps at 1080p can easily do 1440p 60hz
what about MBR? is there a lot of crosstalk and does the monitor stay bright enough?
People still don't care about BFI and neither do most manifacturer. If you want good BFI, check the blurbuster approved monitors or oled TVs.
That's a nice monitor
I bought a 27 inch Dell qhd 165 hz with G sync (compatible) for £199 straight from dell a month ago
Personally I rock a philiphs evnia 280hz ( ips), they are priced rather fair. Picked one up for 200eur
Can the ps5 hdmi cable be suitable for the msi monitors?
Can we rotate it to keep it 90 degrees?
Just wondering what is the adaptive sync range of this monitor...will it sync from 30fps upto it's highest refresh rate or is the adaptive sync a narrow band like a some cheap monitors
May I know what type of cable is included? is it a hdmi or dp cable?
Hyee sir...is this monitor good for gaming like..gta 5 rdr2...and do you notice a black smearing sir...hope you answer my question because i need a opinion...im planning to buy this monitor to
No height adjustment for this price? What a shame!
Im trying to find a good 1440p 75hz + monitor under £200
You talk a bit about benchmarking csgo for years and not getting any better at playing it and i would say to try lowering your sensitivity, just by the way you look around in games i can tell your sensitivity is very high and that is likely effecting your ability to aim precisely. It really doesn't take that long to get used to once you commit to it.
Lower the sens and moving the whole arm to aiming? I've tried this method again and again but I'm always going back using high sens with wrist aiming method.
is the MSI G255F blurry?
No overdrive settings or motion blur reduction?!
There is both of those options I just got this monitor and noticed both of those settings
@@SonnyDeLuca-w9b How's the motion blur clarity in the UFO test?
Would you think this is a good monitor to use with the ps5?
a little bit overkill since ps5 only display 120fps max
Can you show accurate use data like how many percent srgb, then test response time in every hertz, we need like that to compare if this monitor was worth it or no....
MSI G255F vs MSI G244F E2
which is better ?
is it any good for like editing pics? Like are the colours rlly good i found alot of DCI-P3 with hdr ready for 140$ like rlly suspicious
I want to ask whether this monitor can be used with a 1.4b port
what is the ghosting like? i sent back the 27'' version as it was so bad.
I was just looking on this, this your video suddenly pops up. I'm currently looking at this and ASUS TUF VG249Q3A. Which you think is the best for it's price?
same question, what will u choose? maybe g255f better for me
Is this falfd or non fald monitor
When you gaming...do you notice black smearing while gaming?
It's an IPS panel, it won't have that. VA monitors are the ones which have black smearing
monitor panel database is what?
Are there significant differences in color performance and brightness between the G244F E2 and the G255F monitors?
The ADOBE RGB / DCI-P3 / SRGB / Brightness(nits) specifications are as follows:
G244F: 94.4% / 92.05% / 122.88% / 250
G255F: 82% / 78% / 99% / 300
My PC specs:
CPU: R5 1600
GPU: GTX 1070
I'm wondering if the G244F E2 would be a better choice for activities like watching Netflix and playing AAA games such as 2077 or Elden Ring
G244F E2 is worse than G255F and the first G244F, so don't. those percentage only represent the wideness of the color gamut and not the color accuracy.
so does it Allow use of 2.1 hdmi cables?
