    Thanks for sharing your layout build with us. It is looking great and I look forward to watching the videos. Noticing the tightness you are having at the center industry area have you considered extending the front of the layout by adding to the existing framework. maybe 8" or so (for your foreground scenery only) and moving the tracks closer to the edge of the existing layout to give more room for the road and boxcar & gondola industry. Just an idea to chew on. Cheers

    You could also put the road om the 2 by 4 on the edge ....., the crossing would also make sence to get to the freight terminal and you can get the trailer to the dock
    Greetings Gerard
    ps: the rocks look amazing

    Try this, rotate the freight station so the track is on the inside, then angle the building and have the 53’ docks that are to close to the road on the backside toward the old layout.

    Maybe the road can be an overpass on raised landscape or a bridge overpass road.

    Layout what you think you want…take a few pics from different angles…study the pics and things will start to arrange themselves to make sense…nice update and ballast work

    Fantastic update looks great. Lots of things to do but I’m sure we are never done on the layout. I always think there can be more things done. Great video nice Batman part to the next scene 🎬😎🚂🫵TSM

      So true. A layout is never done. I always see places where I think there needs to be more detail. It's kind of funny how real life is so full of trash we feel the need to add it to our layouts because it's realistic.

    Lose the road or move it to the front of layout and put freight station w/track behind road and then move road back to your original position further down the layout. Just an idea. If you move the road to the front you wont have to model the full width, thus gaining some real estate for loading dock area. Let's face it...what would you rather have?

    Work It Slowly Figure It Out the Layout You Have Then Go from there On Out.that Layout you have Work It out Passionatly Don’t Rush it it Will Talk To Ya and You will Get a Feeling of What Needs To Be Done.

    Kind of reminds me of the old bomb disarming joke : "Cut the red wire; but first... ! "
    I feel much the same way as you -- in order do to A, I first must do B, C, D, and move X out of the way, to get to Y so that Z is accessible... And, of course, none of those prerequisite steps are the ones that interest me the most...
    May I suggest something for your loading dock building area... Why not have the street run along the edge of the layout in front of the building instead of behind next to the mainline tracks ? Because of the supports underneath, you can't really run track/turnouts along the front edge anyways, an d you could model only part of the width of the street to save space. Then you can put the building at an angle (between 30 and 45 degrees relative to the front edge of the layout) with the track along the back side to allow your 53-ft trailers to access the loading docks (or at least some of them) from the front (they'd back in an angle relative to the road). The use of angles would help add interest so that not all your tracks are parallel to each other and to the front of your layout.

    What’d you get? About 312 scale miles?

    • @nscaler454
      @nscaler454  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One lap is about 1.95 scale miles. That's just the loop. If it was 312 scale miles, at 22 scale mph it would take over 14 hours to complete. That'd be a BIG layout haha.
