  • The newest franchise of the NHL is the UTAH Hockey Club. They don´t have a name, logo and colours yet, but a team that has a good base of players. Do they have a chance to go to the play-offs??
    Have fun and enjoy!!

I really hope they keep a southwest theme like AZ.

You can tell when someone understands the situation and hockey when they don't come in complaining about the "lack of a name" or "problems with the Delta Center" very good insights and excited to see what Utah can do this year!

This Utah Hockey Club unbound from all that thwarted the team in AZ may surprise a lot of folks. Ian Cole is a good veteran addition and while the core of the team remains intact, I'm reminded of the franchise LV Golden Knights who stunned everyone their first year in the league. This team has the potential if they're able to put the ghosts of last season's 14 game losing streak behind them-their new digs should definitely help.

So according to the GM, Bill Armstrong, the team expects to be in the conversation for the playoffs, with the expectation that next year they will push for making a run for the Stanley Cup. They have done studies about what they need to expect from the young players and their timetable is next year. I think the moves that they made this offseason really improved the team and the Sergachev trade really helped them solidify their defensive zone. The team really sounds like they have become really close with the move to Utah, and the impact of the new owner and his realization that he’s not THE hockey guy and decision maker for hockey matters really makes sense when you look at how he brought in Chris Armstrong to be the team president. It’s so simple and similar to how he brought in Justin Zanik and Danny Ainge for the Utah Jazz basketball team. The ownership group is entirely made up of businessmen who know not to meddle with the team, who hire the best talent for the front office and then sit back and support them as a business resource for the organization. I really respect the way the organization is structured. Much different than the Arizona situation. They have done in 5 months what they ownership group in Arizona couldn’t do in the entire time they were in Arizona as the Coyotes. Just look at the way the practice facility and team offices have been resolved. Locker rooms and renovations of the stadium are being finalized and ready for this year, and a 3 year plan to upgrade the stadium for hockey. And all the plans and purchases couldn’t start until the sale of the Coyotes happened at the end of the season when the original press conference happened announcing the sale. Truly amazing that they were able to make arrangements to play this season.
