    Aww my heart, you can tell how gutted the elderly lady was when the customs officer said the word "drug" she literally was in shock🥺.
    To know that they were cleared from all charges was ahhhmazing.

    I don't think the non-English speaking Vietnam couple was laughing because they thought it was a funny situation but lots of people who are trying to explain or talk to someone who doesn't speak their language will use laughter as a coping mechanism cause they are nervous or don't know how else to say what they're trying to say.

      I'm Mexican and even 10 to 15 years ago there were a lot of things from Mexico that I couldn't find here in the USA. But these days when I go to Mexico I try to think of stuff to bring back with me (obviously stuff that is allowed, no Meats or produce etc..) and I don't usually bring anything because it's so widely avaliable here and price isn't bad!

    I love Australia. Im almost in tears for the elderly couple. They really are innocent and was just innocently obliged to bring those packets to Australia. Thanks for not charging the elderly couple. Other countries can be really brutal for drug mules. I hope you arrest those friends from vietnam and in Australia real responsible for these drugs!

    People still fall for these scams where a stranger asks them to travel with a bag or suitcase and they don't know what's in it?! How is this still happening? I know in the US, there are signs and even videos playing all over the airports that tell you NOT to bring luggage that is not yours that you did not pack yourself because YOU are liable for whatever is in it...

      Remember to these old folks he was just a kid who became a truck driver they’ve known forever. Bought a ticket for them and took them on vacation. He was probably like family to them. That’s crazy he would do that. I’ve heard there are lots of stories of Australians getting scammed by criminals who lured them into vacations overseas.

      Being honest with them could help you down the line when you decide to return. 3 year exclusion is doable and at your next interview you don’t have to get caught up in a lie once more as to why you left or was deported. Lying now only to put on a front will make your return harder with increased penalties

      @@RudolfKooijman That's the point - they're not paying taxes because they can't legally work: the guy doesn't have a work visa.
      With that being said, I think the decision was because they thought he was breakdancing but couldn't prove it, and so used the "work with family" as an excuse.
      Feel they would have been much more lenient with a warning if they genuinely believed he was "helping a relative around the house and given pocket money". Who hasn't helped out around the house of a relative and them go "cheers - here's a little tip for your trouble"?

      That’s not true. If swab is negative and there are no other suspicions they won’t. I regularly travel with ground coffee and they never even swabbed it, even though it looks awfully like other powders.

      I mean, isn't that a good thing? If it's negative then they usually won't, but they can sometimes get multiple readings of other drugs, so they need to get a more accurate sample so they can plan their next steps with the passenger/s.

    Not convinced by the ederly couple...the lady started to freak out as soon as the packages were in the xray...she used her asma thing, she reacted a lot even before the agent mentioned drigs, and after he did so she did not seem surprised just started an exagerated rant.

Every country has bio security laws to protect native plants and species as well as industry which is heavily dependent on access to market and uninterrupted availability of capital. Someone brining in something wrong would cause unrecoverable damage resulting in job losses and the disappearance of entire ecosystems.

      Yep AND if you’ve lied on the custom’s declaration there should be an additional fine and if you lie to the custom’s officer the fine goes up again. The longer it takes the staff to find all the items the higher the fine. A “pay as you use “ type of service. Why should the rest of us have our taxes wasted on people hellbent on breaking the law?

      @@JeanClaudeCOCO•Any gifts brought in for family from Sri Lanka (You need to have the actual receipt for it so they know the value etc some items where gifts for my son from his Dad we have no problem he is an Attorney it just took hours like 5 Hours because he declared as anyone sensible and honest would the items he had some where expensive they are once in a lifetime gifts they are what’s given to a baby and they have specific meaning not the kind of Jewellery anyone would wear it’s something you keep for life it’s unconditional love -This was back pre the crunch in Sri Lanka now you have strict rules over taking money in and out .I can’t take him there I don’t actually want to it was a very stressful situation I have no regrets?

      True, but these had been on TV so the recaps were already part of the episode. Typically a 30 minute show these days lasts about 21 minutes. That's down from like 26 minutes twenty-five years ago.

He was obviously lying and would've worked at the first chance he would get. After all he had no money and definitely wasn't going to be relying on family to provide for him in Australia compared to SA. Don't lie to immigration and don't breach your visa or suffer the consequences

      Apparently the guy lives in Durban, South Africa now and still break dances. Not sure when this episode was filmed but in 2020 he mention it on Facebook, and people from many parts of the world commented. He stated he watched it once or twice and it had made him famous. He seems like a good person.

      you need at least $100 a day to live ok travelling. That's a week of dishes. I'm sure lots of travellers survive cash in hand, the thing is not to write it anywhere or at least delete the text convo. But Krazy doesn't have a criminal mind set.

    IMHO,
    When they declare that they have no food
    It should be treated like tobacco,
    It ALL should be immediately confiscated and destroyed (even what would be allowed)
    AND they should automatically be fined according to total amount first, and then another fine based on the risk next.
    These small fines don't seem to be working as a deterrent and the risk to the environment is real.

      an annoying time filler ploy. It'd be dumb to repeat segments again straight after so they jump around every few minutes. If enough of us complain they might stop it but who can be bothered? Remember when they used the 'shaky camera' filming technique to increase the live action feeling? Thankfully that died out.
