I was just offered my FJO for a GS12 with the EPA and this was my first role I'd ever applied for with the feds. Your videos helped me understand the process. Thanks for the help with understanding the process.
I LOVE the message in this video! Working hard, wanting it for yourself, etc. True in so many endeavors and life itself. And its not incongruent to be a high achiever and simultaneously be seeking work/life balance. The good job and life balance are the reward for work, discipline, and perseverance. Thanks Armand!
Got interviews on GS-11 and GS-12 but now can't qualify for a GS-9 based on my answers to question. These are for the same positions, same agency. I'm being referred now but seems like my progress is going backwards. Hopefully they are just waiting for budget allocations. Appreciate your videos.
Interestingly enough as a Mother of two I went to the VHA after concerns of the work/life balance. Once I accepted the offer was told VHA GS dont qualify for Flexible Works schedules. So I guess all it takes for me to be late or one of my children to get sick during probation and there goes my job.
Most managers I've come across are easy to deal with when it comes to time. Consistently late, that's an issue anywhere, but once can be forgiven. As for needing to take off, if you have the time then the managers are fine with it.
Many years ago I worked for the United States Department of Justice. I was hired on the spot and even received a President honor. Things have changed for the worst. I haven't even received an interview and I have more experience and a graduate degree. The human resources people don't even respond, even though we're told to contact them. It's a BIG JOKE!!!!
I have a g7 fall on my lap temp🤣 literally but I think I’m really worth gs9 but it’s so hard get something. Took me years to get this job while developing experience. Any thoughts?
I got hired as a GS-6 two years ago. I have 4 years of honorable service in the Marine Corps and 2 bachelor's degrees. I have applied to 229 jobs in the last year and a half...3 interviews, no job offers yet. I think I need some guidance.
Wait really? What kind of jobs have you been applying to? If you still in decent shape and under 37, there are quite a few jobs that will give you an almost guaranteed interview.
@@interestedparty497 I've applied mostly to HR specialist/assistant positions, procurement technician, librarian, project management, contract specialist, etc. I even have veteran's preference due to being 60% disabled. I am not under 37 however. I'll be 43 in October and I am certainly not in good shape anymore. That's why I've been looking for more administrative/clerical jobs, even ones that are fully remote.
Braaaaa, im sorry if you are a veteran you literally have the world at your feet. They can literally just go to college not only for free but get a nice stipend. Benefits on benefits on benefits.
I respectfully disagree with you. Without knowing the system, veterans or anyone else will have a difficult time finding employment in the government. Being a federal employee myself, I know five non-veterans that is not in the medical years employed in the federal government.
@@jameslacey5341 there are classes that every service member has access to to help transition as well as learn of what's available. My point is that with a little effort there are A TON of benefits and barring a real disability, emphasis on real, not a shaving waiver, there's no excuse to struggle financially. To your point being a veteran also gives you preference in the hiring system and trust me when I tell you that makes a difference.
@@jameslacey5341 I would agree. Going in the military right out of high school, you're already 4 years behind in a "career". Then you have to add 4 years on top of that for your degree often with no experience in whatever field you choose. However, someone with 1 year experience and ANY masters can jump in at a GS-11 or 12 in my field. I'm a disabled vet, 5+ years experience in local/state government, 3 BS business degrees, 2 certifications in my profession. I have 70+ applications and only had 2 interviews. I get almost all local and state interviews but I want a Federal. But I'm competing against other federal employees and grad students for GS11-12. 13+ is not an option w/o Federal experience. I may have to settle with GS-9. Supposedly this is direct hire position.
@@CyberSolutionsWithJared it's fine if you disagree but Im stating a simple fact. The amount of benefits and resources available to veterans are HUGE. Again barring a legitimate disability there's no reason to have to struggle simply not knowing is not a good reason especially since you need to take transition assistant classes when getting out.
What i'll say is another reason to work for the Federal government is to keep the country in some sort of functioning order. Im grateful my agency gave me a chance, because I didn't see many opportunities where I was at.
Well It took me 45 applications and 6 interviews before I was offered a job. I am so happy and come August I will have 5 years at the agency I work for. I can tell you that being a veteran helps a little but it is not a guarantee a veteran will be selected. The agency I work at, has non veterans working there. As a veteran I take offense at the statement veterans have the world at their feet. To make a statement like that is very hateful. This is simply not true. It is just as hard for veterans to get a federal job as anyone else. It all has to do on your experience and education, just like any other job. All I can say is never give up. If you are having problems look at your resume. Your resume counts as points towards being hired. You want to maximize the points on your resume for two reasons, one is to get the interview and the second is if you mess up a little in the interview your have the points for your resume to cover the mistake you made in the interview.
As a public employee, your salary is usually public information. Certain occupations/agencies are redacted but for most federal employees their information is public.

Can you go over what the retirement is like?
You will have a pension, social security, and the Thrift Savings Plan which is like A 401K.

I disagree. If you feel that way, you should enlist... You will very likely rethink your current opinion

Direct hire events are great. Easy to get hired. Usa jobs site is same as any other shit job site.

How do I REDACT MY SALARY?
As a public employee, your salary is usually public information. Certain occupations/agencies are redacted but for most federal employees their information is public.
Even state employees pay is online.
@@lelandgaunt9985 I see some people can Redact it on some of the major sites I was wondering how.
