This time, we're covering the HAMR.
Unlocked at level 37, we round out the LMG selection with this weapon's debut appearance within the Call of Duty series.
The HAMR, or Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle is a Belgian weapon designed by FN Herstal for the US Infantry Automatic Rifle requirement in 2008.
The weapon is based on the existing SCAR design, with some modifications made for the sustained fire requirement of the IAR program.
The 'Heat Adaptive' part of the name refers to the automatic switching from a closed bolt to open bolt operation as the weapon's barrel heats up during firing.
This grants the accuracy benefit of closed-bolt operation during semi-automatic fire, with the superior heat dissipation of an open-bolt design for sustained use.
The HAMR entered into the same trials as its German rival from HK, the M27 - and ultimately it was the M27 that came out on top and was selected as the winner of the IAR competition.
Nevertheless, the SCAR design has seen some success of its own, with the United States Marine Corps and SOCOM amongst the platform's users.
In-game, damage is good: very similar to the LSAT's damage, albeit with a very slight reduction in range.
You'll kill in 3 shots up close, and may need up to 5 shots at a distance.
Effective range is fairly generous however, so you can expect consistent performance - and the HAMR's ability to penetrate walls is good, too.
Output is unusual, but in a good way: the first 7 shots are fired more quickly, with the weapon settling down into a slower sustained rate of fire.
These first 7 rounds are fired at a rate of 940 rounds per minute: comparable to most SMGs, and combined with the high damage this initial flurry makes the HAMR very effective at a close range.
The sustained fire rate is 625 rounds per minute - a little less deadly up close, but much easier to control at a distance: prolonged fire can be used to great effect over longer ranges.
Rapid Fire will make the HAMR fire at 940 rounds per minute continuously, and so is probably best left off the weapon, as burst firing will grant a similar level of output.
Hipfire is on par with the other LMGs: not spectacular in terms of spread, but the initial output will quite happily repel any close-range attackers in relatively short order.
Recoil varies with the fire rate: initially your accuracy will be poor, but once the fire rate settles recoil becomes very mild indeed.
As long as you can wrest your aim onto target after the initial burst, you'll find the HAMR is capable at most ranges.
Aim time is slow, identical to the other LMGs at 450 milliseconds - and movement is similarly slow, at just 90 percent of the base speed.
Magazine capacity is good by any measure, but on the lower end of the LMG scale, at 75 rounds.
Extended clip takes this capacity to 100 rounds instead.
Being magazine-fed rather than belt-fed, reloads are tolerable at least - although you will resupply slightly slower than the QBB, at 4.25 seconds per mag change.

The HAMR is a well-rounded weapon that handles well and hits hard.
The dual firerate means it is an oddball, but it can work to your advantage - the rapid burst can be a lifesaver in close quarters, and once the weapon settles you can put down accurate suppressive fire to quite some effect.
All in, the HAMR is a great handling weapon that doesn't demand a particular attachment to be effective - a versatile tool with an interesting twist.
Of course, there are some downsides - notably you'll suffer from the usual slow handling traits of an LMG: the reload speed isn't too bad, but can prove inconvenient: the initial rapid burst of shots can quickly chew through your magazine, meaning you will have to endure a resupply relatively often.
In addition, the high recoil of the rapid fire burst can make it difficult to acquire long-range targets rapidly: a more accurate opponent may have the advantage over such sightlines.
Still, as long as you position yourself well you will prove difficult to dislodge, with a resistive perk set and a weapon that's effective at most ranges.
Simply put, you can't touch this weapon's versatility, so if you're too legit to quit, then stop...

For Ghosts, it's the M27-IAR. Fastest reload speeds in the whole LMG class, at roughly 5 seconds, and comparing with the other LMGs which take 8 seconds to reload, that's saying something.
And with Sleight Of Hand, the M27 reloads in record time.
Literally everything Stu touches, turns gold. Don't expect to rock that hard in your own matches, people. ;'(
I use toughness, scavenger, flack jacket, light wait, engineer, FMJ, and quick draw handle. Sometimes I trade out flack jacket for a pistol and C4.

I know this is 2 years old but the grip doesn't work in bo2 and even with the 10% reduction in range the suppressed will reduce muzzle flash and make your shots more silent and off the radar
Agreed. The foregrip reduces sight recenter by 2% and is essentially worthless. You could stack with an acog for 5% but the effect is still negligible.

I wish you'd mentioned the quirk with the Hybrid Scope allowing you to constantly fire at 940 RPM by switching zoom levels while firing, but otherwise this was superbly done as usual :D

HAMR is the best LMG. Its not OP, its pretty good. I love this LMG! The iron sights remind me of my favorite AR, the Scar H!
And then there's the guy who thinks sitting with a LSAT dual band, silenced, rapid fire aiming down the sights 24/7 makes him the best player ever.

Remember, the scar h uses different ammunition from the scar l. The scar l uses the same ammo as the HAMR and it basically has a drum magazine and a fire control mechanism
Dillon C Yeah, the L fires the 5.56x45, the H variant as well as the HAMR variant fires the 7.62x51. The HAMR has an open to closed bolt operation, to reduce recoil and control the weapon from heating up rapidly.
This weapon was soooo underrated and versatile, besides ammo consumption.

The M27 in BO2 is largely based on the (I wanna say) m416. The M27 IAR is an entirely separate weapon, and is the gun that beat out the HAMR.

His enemy's are pretty much bots lol they are so bad.
Still playing BO2, and the HAMR's still my favorite gun. I play Hardcore almost exclusively, and the balance of weapons is very different there -- weapons that are weak in Core get to shine much more in Hardcore, while weapons that are strong in Core still work just fine, but aren't dominant.
The SCAR is a top pick in Hardcore, having a one-shot kill out to a considerable range alongside all the usual likeable traits of an assault rifle, so it's no surprise that the HAMR performs well too. But it's only in Hardcore that the HAMR's unique function -- that fast, inaccurate burst of 7 followed by slower, more accurate shots afterwards -- really shows how great it is. Those first 7 come out at the same firerate as many of the SMGs (940 rpm), and about the same accuracy, while the following shots fire pretty similarly to the SCAR. You can continuous fire for long-range accuracy, or pulse the trigger to keep getting that SMG-like speed, with higher damage output. Throw a Stock on there (essential for Hardcore and especially for LMGs), and you've got a really formidable weapon. Throw FMJ on there and you can take down those pesky Stealth Choppers real quick too.
EDIT: Also, pair it with a pistol (Tac 45 is reliable, Five-seveN is easier to spray, B23R is unorthodox but still good, KAP-40 is the easiest to use for this, Executioner is a little too niche for this but it might work for you) for when your ammo runs out, or a launcher for maximum equipment/scorestreak destruction, finished off with either EMP Grenade or Black Hat. Perks up to you, but I highly recommend Engineer with that equipment and/or launcher, and Cold Blooded will help you win those long-range gunfights while Scavenger helps if the enemy is REALLY going all-out with placed equipment/scorestreaks you need to hack/destroy.

Ever since I saw this video I've been using the HAMR. It is a really good weapon.
The HAMR is not a weapon in the Splatoon Ammo Knights Database, but at the same time, is an AMAZING weapon next to my father's "hero shot" from the Splatoon 2 franchise, which he recreated in COD Multiplayer, using a PDW-57 with FMJ, rapid fire, and fast mag, sidearmed with the Executioner with an FMJ and Fast Mag, "user's choice" he said, with 2 semtex grenades, 2 sensor grenades, and that's about it...
But is a perfect main weapon, he says.

I loved the f2000 in that game, but it was really only suited towards maps such as Sub Base or similarly sized maps with lots of cover. It was actually the fourth gun I got mastery for. You're right about the skill gap, by the way. At least in my opinion.

My father is Bruce J. Spletzer/Blastymus Prime, Agent 4 of the original Squidbeak Splatoon, One of the top commanders in the US Marine Corps, proclaimed that fire rate is your friend. Plus he argues that in ZOMBIES, the SMR isn't so bad after all. All you need to do is know how to aim it, and may need to get a little closer to the target, because the shorter the shot, the more the damage, Aim for the chest, or the head, it's "high damage" was never changed. The Single Mission Rifle is used by many.

The pun was absolutely glorious.
The use for scavenger comes with the fact that your recoil reduces after 7 shots, meaning at longer ranges you're more likely to have sustained fire, which in turn means using more ammunition. Scavenger lets you replenish if you go on longer streaks this way.

Just discovered that Molon Labe industries is coming out with a new line of SCAR magazines, with 5, 10, 20,and 25 round versions available.
The songs are from Black Ops 2. The one at the beginning is called "Colossus," which plays at the start of (and also later during) the campaign level of the same name.
I'm not sure about the rest.

The reason they look the same is because the HAMR *IS* the SCAR. It just has some modifications. The HAMR is similar to the SCAR Mk 16 (SCAR-L) Long Barrel, but is modified for use as a weapon with sustained-fire capabilities.
Stu has said before that he preferred the MW2 level of damage, but he thinks that Stopping Power should not come back; rather the weapons would start out that powerful.

Id get rid of dexterity though and put on two attachments like quickdraw to help the awful ads and suppressor to stay hidden off radar too
Recommendations? If you are by no means a "good" player, I suggest: UAV, Hunter Killer Drone and Counter UAV. If you still want to get good streaks: UAV, Hunter Killer Drone and Care Package. If you are "pro" I suggest, for objective defense: Lightning Strike, Stealth Chopper and V-Sat. For a close and personal one: V-sat, Warthog and K9 unit. The first two are easier and "refills" faster. When you get the Chopper camp until you get the V-Sat. The Warthog will push everyone inside buildings.
That's exactly what an LMG is, a gun firing an intermediate rifle cartridge. Something firing a larger rifle cartridge such as .308 is an MMG, and something firing something such as .50 cal is an HMG.
I agree with that. This gun is really good, but I feel it needs at least an optic or a suppressor to either elevate the sights above the muzzle flash or to remove the muzzle flash altogether.

Perks are an integral part of the multiplayer. While they can potentially be controversial, they help define your loadout to its specific goal. I'm not a fan of the overcomplication and excess equipment that CoD adds nowadays, but perks should definitely stay.
Try using Eotech, Foregrip, and Laser sight. You will not regret it

The m27 is more of an adaptable iar. Basically, you can switch out parts of it to play a different role such as support or assault.
