I love the story of John Claire... It represents in some kind the one's that are different, not necessarily in appearance, but in thinking, and how they struggle to be within the "normals", how they struggle for an acceptance that never comes. I've seen too many Top TV shows. Penny Dreadful is the best I've enjoyed, I can say Breaking Bad is bigger as artistic work. Nevertheless I enjoyed Penny dreadful much better than anything else
