Thanks for this accidentally vegetarian snack, Sara! I also really like when chefs tell us the reason why we should NOT prepare something a certain way instead of telling us the right way to do it and leaving it at that. i.e. "don't overstuff with filling because it might ooze/leak out", versus, "place only a teaspoon of filling in the pastry". Makes all the difference as some might attempt to still place more in and question why the recipe didnt work out!

Oh my God, thank you for presenting the recipes as close to the original as possible! As a Greek university student in lockdown, I recently started making pies and it's so easy and delicious. Just yesterday, my mom told me those few little tips that will make the pie ever better and you also mentioned them! Such a pleasant coincidence!!

This is a family recipe favorite. Instead of green onions, I would recommend trying leeks.

Leeks would be perfection, but you’re not supposed to put garlic in the spanakopita filling!
efi basdra agreed I never use garlic. The leeks give it great flavor. I also add 8 oz of cottage cheese and mix with the feta.
@@efibasdra6328 "not supposed to" oh please. This is home cooking. If you don't want to add garlic to yours, that's fine. I really hate this policing of how people prepare food for THEIR own family.
Delicious recipe!!!.In tzatziki sauce I recommend you to use wine vinegar instead of lemon juice
Oh man saw this video yesterday and went to the store and made it today!! So good!! I made 12 and still have filling and dough leftover for tomorrow. The dough was very crumbly and broken but I managed to work with a bunch of pieces haha thank you for posting this! I’ve been missing some good Greek food! Hit the spot!

Awesome video! Only thing I add to mine is a bit of lemon juice. It just seems to "brighten" it up a bit so its not so bland. Not sure how authentic it is but I really like it

Inbar K they freeze perfectly, spread them on a tray and freeze then and then you put them in a container and back in the freezer so when you want them just put in the preheated oven strait from the freezer. You can make as many as you like and this way you can have them all year round. I don't know about squeezing the spinach, that's all the vitamins there, so I just put half a cup of rice partially cooked so that way it absorbed all the extra (LIQUID GOLD) and that's why I don't put egg, I hope I helped there, am not just greek😂😂😂😂👄

Hi I love your recipes I did want to know about the dip instead of Greek yogurt cuz I'm not a big fan of Greek yogurt can I use sour cream instead?
Sarah if I want to freeze these would I be better off to bake them off and then freeze them or would I be better off to make them and freeze them and then bake them off when I'm ready to eat them? I am making them tomorrow for dinner but I don't think we're going to eat 38 little triangles of them. so I want to be able to freeze them and I'm not sure which would be the best way to freeze them?

Can you make them an hour or two ahead and then just keep them under a moist kitchen towel and pop them in the oven when ready?
I must say, I was surprised you got the pronunciation right. Although, what you made were actually spanakotyropitakia because they had cheese in them. You could, of course, make this without the cheese.
About the tzatziki, I would have used 2% strained Greek yoghurt (the strained part is extremely important) with the cucumber cut into tiny cubes (the seeds could stay, just add the cucumber at the last minute), garlic (of course), salt and some vinegar and olive oil to taste. If you take out the cucumber, you can have a delicious dip. We do both in my home, depending on the occasion.

You should try this homemade version and just skip the spinach 😉 Then you still get crispy golden pastry and yummy feta! Sounds good to me 😊

Yes it is called tyropita or zelnik. You can also get a dessert version with apples and cinnamon. All available in the frozen foods sections near me at least.
