'Danny Boy', is our family anthem. At least as I remember our family celebrations ended with my father, sadly singing in his beautiful opera voice, " Oh, Danny Boy...". I loved when my macho old Dad sang this tune with such emotion. I cried.

World War II ... American soldiers dug in their foxholes on a cold, rainy, dark night in France. Morale was low, soldiers tired and lonely for home. Out of the dark, rainy, cold night a soldier from New York City began singing Danny Boy! All was not lost!

This version is by far among the finest I've ever heard. I grew up with this song my entire life as my parents were born and raised in Belfast, N Ireland. My late Dad had the most beautiful tenor voice I ever heard in my life and he LOVED singing this song. Austin, thank you and God bless your talent and thank you for always being willing to share your gift with the rest of us. I remember seeing y'all in Ft Lauderdale like 4 years ago. My arm was in a big 'ole bump sling after having shoulder surgery and the HF show was amazing. You guys sang "How Great Thou Art" which was my Dad's favorite hymn and you did a bone chilling, hair-standing-up-on-my-neck performance of it. Anytime I really need a shot of good vibes now I listen to it. I planned on a simple "Thank You" comment but we Irish are incapable of "Making a long story short"! God bless and keep singin!
First can I just acknowledge how special Sebastian is!! He's such an asset to your music. Now to your beautiful melancholy voice. It goes straight through me like an arrow that pierces my very soul. 🥰

I'm in tears. This is the most beautiful, heartfelt and extraordinary rendition of this song that I have ever heard. I used to sing this lovely song to my baby boy Alex. His nickname was Aggy-boy, from the moment my 18 month old daughter Meagan first saw him. I used to sing "Oh Aggy-boy...", who is now a loving husband and father of three lovely boys. I am 81 and a descendant of the McDonoughs. The Irish sing to momentarily wipe away hundreds of years of British cruelties and Danny Boy is the iconic song that represents that pain of a father missing his son. I have heard Danny Boy by dozens of singers over the decades and Austin's rendition is the very best that captures the plaintive call of that Irish father.

Absolutely beautiful rendition of this beloved Celtic song! 👏👏👏
The song is English not Celtic
@@nmspain7125 Do a bit of research yourself, Danny Boy was written by an English lawyer called Fredrick Weatherly along with the male version with different lyrics called Eily Dear, no Celtic origins to the song at all but do not let the facts get in the way of your blinkers.
@@nmspain7125 No, it is Blinkers Thanks very much, might I suggest you do what you suggested I do and do a bit of factual investigation before typing a load of uneducated drivel.
@@nmspain7125 LOL, give yourself a good shake you clown.
A beautiful song, and you are just Awesome to sing this song with feelings and lots of love!!!. Oh yeah you're the best!!! Happy New Year Austin... Excellent!...
That was my great grandmothers favorite. Her parents came to Canada during the Irish famine.
Hello 🎉
Hello 🎉
This showed up on my feed today, of all days. My papa would be 96 today, Oct 6th. He died 39 years ago. This was one of his top favorite songs and he would sing it beautifully. And with such expression. Loved hearing it today. Blessings abound🥰
I truly am blessed.
Thank you and God bless you. (from the UK)
I’ve been watching everything I can on Home Free now I’m watching you individually. I have cried for an hour hearing this song, it was my dads song and you sung it to perfection. Thank you, you’ve made a old nana happy tonight.
I could listen to him all day!!
I’m 72 and my Mom’s family are OBrien…. Always loved this song but this version is something really special….
Nice job 👍.
Ya bastard … ya bought a tear to my eye !!!! Loved it 😍
This really touched my soul. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us.
This means so much Jack. Thank you for sharing!
Greetings from Argentina

So beautiful and haunting! Sing more!
My Irish lover passed away last June. I’m still crying from your beautiful song. Thank you for bringing his memory back to me, tonight! I’m breathless.
Always a pleasure to listen to this young singer. Great accompaniment - he lets the singer stand out rather than drown him with his accompaniment, like most do! Keep up the good work, you two wonderful young men.
19 years ago one of my cousins sang this at my father's wake. It has always been one of my top favorite songs. I lost my oldest brother one week ago today. This really made my day. Thank you for putting this out today. Bless you
Outstanding! Thank you!
I just Love your Beautiful Voice, cant stop listening to your songs !!
So stunning, Austin. This song sounds so different in this rendition 💗
