Dear Austin, Each time that I listen to your arrangement of this song, I cry tears of sadness and joy. On 1 December 2020, I lost my husband of 38 years to COVID-19. It was a strange, surreal time, and I had to fight hospital administrators who were reluctant to let me be with my husband as he went to our Lord. This was one of my husband's and my favorite songs, one the comforted us when we lost our child. Now, because of you, it brings me comfort, especially on those days when I am missing both of my loved ones. Thank you!

It seems wrong of me to ‘like’ your heartbreaking story, just please know I am praying for comfort and peace for you. My beloved husband passed away in 2017 of heart failure. I will love him until I go to meet him in Heaven. Tomorrow my family will commemorate the lost life of our stillborn granddaughter. I lost my Mom and husband told me two months later I want a divorce it was hard I kept praying for him to get back to the Lord he divorced me got married same day was killed in vehicle bicycle accident just two weeks prior he came back to Lord was dead two weeks later so God answered that prayer so I know about grief but God helped me go on !!! After we lost my brother my mom heard this song and said it made her think of him. 28 years later, just this year, she finally found out that he wrote it for his son and understood why it touched her so much after losing her own.
My husband and I both had tears in our eyes while listening to this. Your range and ability to sing so many genres of music is fantastic. Don't ever let anyone pigeonhole you into doing just one thing.

I lost my two sons in 99 - one day I lay down on a day couch and fell asleep - and there stood my two sons in front of me - my youngest was standing back a bit - we knew what we were each thinking - he wanted me to know he was standing back because I got to stand by him for 5 days (he was on live support for 5 days before he was declared brain dead and he was an organ donor) my oldest died within minutes of the wreck. They were gorgeous - and oh my goodness - I'd never seen them so happy! They kept saying "Oh mom, you won't believe" over and over! I knew where they were - and they were so happy. And one day, I'll see them "in Heaven"! My oldest reached out and took my left hand with his right and squeezed it. I knew I was fixing to wake up. When I woke up, I jumped up and ran through the house crying and praising the Lord - I got to see my fella's blue eyes one more time! The Lord is gracious! Love love this song. Every time I hear an Austin Brown/Sebastien Douyon collaboration, I am amazed at Austin's singing and Sebastien's accompaniment. Both are amazingly talented. What I sometimes fail to take into consideration is the genius environment in which each video is filmed. This is just the perfect setting for the song with two artists who bring powerful experiences to each of their listeners and video followers. Of course, the very talented Amberly who filmed this experience deserves a shout out for her large part in this production.

How right you are. I recently lost my husband and never knew what the word grief meant until now. Memories make it worse, . People say they hall but not me. I feel almost suicidal every day. What’s there to live for.
@@nancyraimer6968 Please, please take the idea of suicide off the table even for consideration. There is so much to live for. We rarely know what a big, positive influence we can have on others. I lost a son unexpectedly 6 years ago. I miss him everyday, but my memories and knowing that at some point I will join him keeps me going. I know that he would want me to live e everyday to its fullest. I allow myself some time to just sit and contemplate the good times we had. As a result of his death, I found Home Free and with some help from my daughter and some HF fans have actively tried to be a positive influence everyday. There are days I am not 100% positive, but I do give thanks everyday for my health and for family and friends who are a blessing. I frequently pray for someone I see that looks like they could use something positive in their lives. As I frequently tell one of my best friends ever, you never know the good that you can do just by a kind word or a smile or just by listening. Below is the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255. My friend also reminds me that life and be a series of baby steps. One lives with grief sometimes one day at at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. Beautiful performance of this really sad and haunting a song! Losing someone important in life can be very painful. Losing your child is one of the worst thing that could ever happen!
I lost my oldest son almost eleven years ago, killed by a hit and run driver, what I’ve learned since then is just how many others have lived through the same thing, so so many. Not that I thought I was the only one, but the truth is that chances are no matter where you go, you will be in the midst of others suffering the same heartbreak. In my own family, one sister in law lost two daughters a few years apart, her sister lost a son, and there are more….right after I went back to work after my sons death, a lady I know came to express her sympathy and said she knew what I was going through, she lost her daughter and two grandchildren in a house fire on Christmas Eve. I read that people think they can’t go on, but we do, we somehow just find the strength to carry on. I remember the accident when Eric lost his little boy, my heart truly ached for the family, it was so terribly sad. Austin certainly put his heart in this sad but beautiful song.

My daughter lost her daddy when she was just 10 years old. She's 23 now and still cries because she misses him so much. It's hard watching her hurt so much.

I don’t even have the words to adequately describe what’s in my heart when I hear you sing. You did an outstanding rendition of this heartfelt song. Hearing this on the third day of November is particularly meaningful to me as I lost my husband 27 years ago this month to lung cancer. This song touches my heart every time I hear it. Your voice brings me such joy and peace when I hear you sing.
On the day my father was dying to keep him calm I played Home Free singing Amazing Grace, and How Great Thou Art. When I hear it now it takes on a stronger message. Thank you so much for keeping his passing good for him.

Don't know if you've heard them, but you really must check out Home Free, the a cappella group that Austin sings with. They are fantastic! I was never a big fan of music without instrumentation, but this group has totally won me over...seems like I don't get through a day without listening to their music or watching one of their concerts on TH-cam. I am absolutely addicted to them...all five of these guys have tremendous musical abilities and their warmth and humor is unsurpassed.

I lost my wonderful Dad in January this year. My Precious Mother in January 2021. My Precious Mother in law about 20 years ago in January. I lost my grandmother in December when I was ten. I lost my precious Bible teacher in July three years ago. She was born in January. She had lost her grandson and her husband just months before. My best friend lost her sweet daughter. My sister in law. My father in law. Finally my husband died January 1-2, 2005. He was pronounced on the second but I am fairly certain he died on the first and I know they worked on him for a very long time. It’s hard to lose those we love. I pray that Eric Clapton meets The Lord Jesus Christ so he does meet up with his beloved son who is in Heaven. I pray for you about your grief. I’m with you! I know exactly what you are feeling. My poor husband didn’t know what happened, all he knew I was crying hysterically. I have had so much loss in the past year and didn’t expect my reaction today.
