Do you recommend to connect a second arrial (to separate vhf and AIs) or can be OK for the use I do to use the splitter and have just one aerial? We use the boat for recreational use and we are not transmitting much with vhf, Ais seems to transmit and receive pretty well and without issues. Thank you very much for your work
Thank you for your comments. I apologize for the delayed reply. I always recommend using two antennas for best performance when VHF and AIS are not integrated in the same radio. Many external splitters have several dB loss. In your case where maximum range is not key, I recommend our new 4’ AIS/VHF combination antenna model 594-MW and for longer range coverage use model 992-MW (8’ AIS/VHF wideband antenna with cable).
I have a SH gx2400gps/ais. Im looking to use ais to find the "fleet" when offshore fishing. Im currently using a vhf ais antenna. I dont have a splitter. Im looking to recieve ais more then transmit. But im not getting good reception on my vhf. Should i use a splitter and run them separately to my vhf or a longer vhf/ais antenna.
