Groovy! The beat on this one kept it in rotation on the oldies stations way into the eighties and nineties. The day-glo uptempo rhythm shouts mid-sixties go-go music, especially given those trumpet lines, even though the song gets lumped in with garage rock. The rave up at the end reminds me of "Shout" by The Isley Brothers. "I can't wait forever \ To know if you'll be true" -- Sex, drugs, and rock n roll! He's telling her that if she won't do it with him now he'll find a willing other because he lacks time to wait, perhaps because he has been drafted into the army and will soon be shipped off to war. The Outsiders were more or less one hit wonders. When you're ready for more groovy fun from that era also check out Martha Reeves & the Vandellas "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave", Smokey Robinson and the Miracles "Going to a Go-Go", The Rascals "Good Lovin", Crazy Elephant "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin", and The Spencer Davis Group "Gimme Some Lovin'".
This is one of those "you had to be there" songs. Friday night dances at the local National Guard Armory drew kids from neighboring towns for live music and DJ. This is one of the songs that got everyone on the floor.
I just remember my coolest sister Cindy with her transistor radio jamming to this! She's the absolute best!
They were a good band. I bought their cd greatest hits back in the late 90s and loved every tune. I was fresh out of high school too lol
Sheray, What a Really Nice Surprise! Reacting To The Outsiders. Thank You, For Making My Day Again!!🤭

Great one hit wonder band.
The lead singer was Sonny Geraci, and the band was from Cleveland, Ohio.
