Funny story...well, funny to me! My daughter, raised on a farm that had always 'grown' its own meat (with love and names) turns to me as a three year old, sitting in the grocery cart, and asks, "They sell meat in the grocery store?" Me: proud and slightly horrified!

Abby: I can’t even begin to sufficiently express how grateful I am to have found your channel. I have struggled with an eating disorder for 18 years and your mindset on wholesome foods that bring you joy in a healthy way rather than “good vs bad” food has been incredibly helpful for my normally toxic relationship with food. Through you, I have realized that not having restrictive foods or forbidden foods has put me into a less hateful place with those foods that used to be severely triggering for me. Specifically, what I have found to be most helpful is watching your “what I eat in a day” reaction videos and hearing you point out the triggering words that they often use (which would usually send me into a spiral of self hate to hear them say), so when you point out that that’s not something to strive for, it really reminds me that I’m on the right path in trying to undo all of those habits that I have lived for nearly two decades. At the end of the day, all I want is to be able to view food as something enjoyable and satiating instead of something that’s my enemy. Slowly, you are helping me get there. More than any treatment program or therapist ever has.... so thank you 🙏🏼
I don‘t know why, but I‘m no friend of ordering groceries. Especially in these days, when all the other shops are closed here in Germany, I need my grocery shopping just as a little fix of normality 😂😂😂
I also like to be in the shop. I don't trust other people to choose my fruit and vegetables. Also especially at the moment it's an hour out of the house 😅
I really loved seeing your personality come out more in this vid. Also your excitement for all the food. And yes, you sing alllllll the time when kiddos are in your life!
I have put myself into so many "flavor hunts" because while shopping I try to be "healthy" and then at home I crave what I actually want. I now allow myself to get my favorite snacks and many options at that so I can satiate my cravings without eating 10x as much hunting it down! Such a good tip.
omg, i need to start doing this! i always leave out the sweet/salty snacks (that i know i will want) as wishful thinking, it never works and we end up getting it at 3x the price at our local convenience store when the feeling hits haha
I gotta start doing this as well. I never realized that I'm putting myself in a situation where I would eat so much more then I would have if I just had a little of what I was craving.
where I live, there's not a single brand of these available but I just looove to watch your actual food videos to become inspired and try something different while knowing I can trust your taste buds! Love you ✨
I live in the same city as Abby and it isn’t available here either lol. They must have shipped it to her because they’re sponsoring the video, thrive market doesn’t ship to Canada
I would love love looove more of these hauls!!! Buying groceries every week is such a chore, I usually just get the same things but I would love to try new recipes and snacks!!!

I love how genuinely excited you get talking about all of this food 🥰 this channel has helped me view food in a much more positive light! So refreshing
I absolutely loved this video! I just signed up with Thrive Market and ordered my first delivery today. Ended up ordering a few of the same items! Very excited to try them out. I really loved how you didn't just show the healthier foods you bought, but also the fun treats! I truly admire how genuine you are!

I just finished this process with my now 2 and 3 year old boys! They’re incredible eaters and have a more sophisticated palate than most adults we know. Obviously listen to experts first, but since it’s fresh on my mind, I wanted to share some things we learned along the way! 1. Start by researching baby-led weaning. 2. Whenever you’re introducing vegetables, (you can easily find baby-led weaning lists online with a sequence to follow....it’s also important to pay attention to the size you cut them and how soft you cook them) don’t be afraid to introduce and play around with different seasonings to broaden their palette. The only things you should avoid are salt, sugar, and spicy (hot.) It’s great to use things like cumin, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. For example, when you’re introducing sweet potatoes, one night they could have a little cumin on it and the next night they could have a little garlic powder on them. 3. As they start eating more for substance a little later in the journey, our favorite things were making toast sticks using Dave’s killer bread and switching out the nut butters like Abbey mentioned in this video. We also loved rolled oats with a nut butter and smashed banana mixed in, oat pancakes (1 c oat flour, 1 smashed banana or 1/2 c of pumpkin, 1 c of milk, and a shake of baking powder...you can also change out the flavor profile by adding in nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, etc.) and banza pasta! I love making pesto pasta with it and adding in some frozen peas. You can make such nutrient-dense pesto with kale, spinach, or a mixture of both, and sunflower seeds or cashews. We love the Trader Joe’s kale pesto. I really hope this helps and please comment back if you have any questions. Oh, and I know Abbey has some really great muffins on her blog!

We started both times with avocado and followed the guidance on how to cut it. They never choked, but gagging is a real thing.
Oh and the cool thing about it is that they really aren’t eating it at first. It’s more just a touching/mouthing experience. They’ll eat it when they’re ready. It may take a few times. So you’re only presenting one piece of food and they really know how much they need, so it will never be you who gives them too much. That’s actually the main reason I like it more than purées. I love me some bell peppers too! I used to hate them but I’ve been going on a journey lately reclaiming foods I decided I hated as a kid and red bell peppers were first on the list. It took about a year, but now I love a crunchy red or yellow bell pepper strip plain or dipped in hummus or ranch, as well as cooking with them. My new food I’m working on is avocado. For me it’s mostly textural, but I’ve decided that guacamole’s okay so that’s a step in the right direction.
I like how you said the squeeze packs are great for travel and “less mess” ... my daughter would squeeze her applesauce from the pouch into the lid and then drink it from the lid and let me tell you, when she was younger it almost always resulted in all the mess! 😂😂 I loved this video, Abbey! Your personality makes me so happy. 😊
Abbey I love love love this video! I love all your other more formal-style informative and analytical videos but can really sense your lovely personality in this. Much love ❤️ xxx
I would love a video on what to eat when you have autoimmune disease, specifically for lupus. Or a video on the AIP protocol. Or a video on what to eat so you don't gain belly fat during menopause. Any of all of these, pretty please!!
Wow. This video just gave me freedom to buy groceries I’ve been denying myself for years. Ditching diet culture for good after almost 40 years is so liberating…and scary!
Yes to the acid! If I have salad with balsamic vinaigrette and there’s some left in the bottom (because I overdressed, as usual) I’ll straight up drink it out of the bowl 😂
Omg i thought i was the only one haha! In my country we also dip a little bit of bread in the leftover dressing (usually olive oil and vinegar) in the bowl!
I love your channel Abbey! I wonder if you could share about what to do when kids eat at school and pickup on other children’s habits? I grew up with mentality of eating everything. Never ever in my family we discussed food as “I don’t eat potatoes” or “i only eat fries, but I do not eat mashed potatoes” or “yuks you eat what with what?” or “this looks gross” referring to my plate and so forth. Now I grew up in Russia, moved to US in my early adulthood. And let me tell you, I’ve never been bullied for what I eat before. Native people made so much fun of what I ate and still continue doing it because this is “normal” here in US, part of culture. I learned to adopt. With my children I continue with “eating everything” and not discussing in a bad way food. However when my daughter went to daycare which provided food to kids.... oh boy she now categorizes everything and doesn’t eat a lot of things. Just because. I pack healthy balanced lunches for my son to school and he was bullied for not eating just chips/cookies/candies chugged down by Powerade. 🙅♀️ It’s such a struggle!! How do I stand up to the rest of the “world” without loosing my sanity and making sure my kids have a healthy relationship with food? Thank you
It's really interesting that in Canada the recommendation is that you introduce nut allergens early (which is what I feel I would do) when in the UK (where I live) the government advice is no nuts before five incase of allergies. It would be interesting to see a comparison of this advice and reasons for the different recommendations around the world.
@@animanukyan2168 i think health visitor advice varies based on personal opinion and when they were trained for a lot of things. As I said I don't have a baby/children - I'm basing this on the experiences of friends I have who have recently had babies. Although I did just see an article to say this advice was changed by the government about 10 years ago. So actually it's probably more interesting that the knowledge of the change in both the general public, and also the previously mentioned friend's experiences with health visitors seems to be lacking 🙂
I LOVE this kind of video abbey! don't get me wrong, I also love your wieiad, and other information about nutrition. but i love to see this side from you. You should try making video about what i cook for my children series, and workout routine! i am not a mom- still studying at college in fact, but i would love to see those kind of videos to gain perspective for my future kids😃🥰
I love how you are talking to us just like your kids- almond squeeze packie... i know you talk all day to the kids & its hard to turn that switch off 😂
omg i used to be obsessed with mama chia packets... brought them to school everyday and my friends would ration out portions from one pack to give everyone a little bit 💀
I love Thrive!! I don’t use it often but sometimes I want something new to try. I set aside an hour or so to meal prep on the weekends. I pre pack things like oats and my snacks but I prep a couple different types of protein and carbs and keep a ton of frozen veggies like broccoli, squash and green beans to have for lunches. I’ve got three boys and a picky husband so dinner is kind of whatever he feels like cooking, but always gluten free for me 🤷🏻♀️.
So Delicious Dairy Free Snickerdoodle Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert is my current 100% favorite. Haven’t had real dairy ice cream in a long time so hard to say how it adds up but it is certainly my favorite.
30 minutes of pure joy talking about food 😍 it would be a very helpful if you could make a video about your meal preparation and how you used it trough the week. Thanks!
These are some of my favorite types of videos, seeing what grocery shopping trips contain. Sometimes it give me great ideas for products I haven't tried (especially since I am a vegetarian, with seafood/dairy/eggs as parts of my dietary choices/my husband does eat meat, however does enjoy a lot of non-meat items, too .) or "I didn't know that was available at (fill-in-the-blank store where we shop or is nearby to visit)". 😁 Thanks, Abbey.
Pre-COVID my idea of a good time is wandering the aisles of the grocery store 😂 I work in the food industry so consider my trips to Whole Foods “market research”
This seems like a very expensive grocery haul. I get just a couple of those specialty items weekly. I also have to make a list before I go to trader jos otherwise I buy everything and spend twice my grocery budget. I will likely never use Thrive. Nonetheless, all sounds great! I am all about the dark chocolate.
We always pronounce it fah-yay. We are die hard fans of the stuff. We buy a 35 oz container of the 2 % every week. Perfect plain with granola or fruit or both, we also add it onto tacos in lieu of sour cream or drop a dallop into a smoothie for an extra creamy one!
As someone who loves maple syrup, I don't discriminate between Vermont or Canadian....both have a decent handle on the craft. If I was offered some "Arizona" or "Florida" maple syrup, I might have questions. (I live in Maine, & Canada is literally across the street from my house. I am blessed with an array of maple syrup choices.)
I love your approach and demeanour dear Abbey...! Very grateful for your channel, your advice and how gentle you are. And you are so funny.,.! I love grocery hauls, what you eat in a day videos but also when you review model's diet videos and popular bloggers..,! 🙌🏻💚
mint chocolate cookie, gimme s’mores, and chubby hubby are my top 3 fav ben and jerrys!! definitely reccomend. i’ve had about 25 different flavors and those are my top 3
I also used to do my grocery shopping online waay before the pandemic, I find it easier to comb through unnecessary spending when I see the final price rank up.

Such a great idea! Could you give me some sauce ideas? Thanks :) oh one more question! Do you microwave the dishes or heat on stove or do you eat them cold?
Graeter’s ice cream makes a strawberry chip with huge chunks of chocolate swirled through. It’s only available in April, I look forward to it every year!
Wax is the best part!!! Not to eat but having that little throw away stim/figit toy for snack time is just I it just completes my soul. Eat the cheese, play with the wax.

Sounds great! I have tons of avocado recipes on my blog that might help you enjoy it more 😊www.abbeyskitchen.com/?s=avocado
Aw thank you!
this video is amazing, your personality shined through like no other, I loved it!!
Aw thank you!
Abbey, as a balsamic vinegar lover, you have to try strawberries, fresh basil and balsamic on top of grilled salmon. It looks and tastes amazing!
Love the grocery haul, could watch these all day!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I have never seen such a hyper Abbey in any other video! 😆 I am so here for it
Abbey I love love love this video! I love all your other more formal-style informative and analytical videos but can really sense your lovely personality in this. Much love ❤️ xxx
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it 😊
please sing all the time. you have a beautiful singing voice 🌸
Aw thank you!
I would love a video on what to eat when you have autoimmune disease, specifically for lupus. Or a video on the AIP protocol. Or a video on what to eat so you don't gain belly fat during menopause. Any of all of these, pretty please!!
On my list to discuss these!
@@AbbeysKitchen awesome! I'm so excited! These apply to me and my daughter personally. Thank you!
I never had baby bells as a kid and brought myself some like a year ago and tried to eat the wax 💀
I would love to see a video of your meal prep! So many meal prep videos are for one person, or couples, a family one would be great :)
I'll put this on the list!
Wow. This video just gave me freedom to buy groceries I’ve been denying myself for years. Ditching diet culture for good after almost 40 years is so liberating…and scary!
Ben & Jerry’s CHOCOLATE FUDGE BROWNIE ICE CREAM! Heaven in a pint.
Yes to the acid! If I have salad with balsamic vinaigrette and there’s some left in the bottom (because I overdressed, as usual) I’ll straight up drink it out of the bowl 😂
😂😂
My sister used to that all the time when she was a kid!
It’s such a struggle!! How do I stand up to the rest of the “world” without loosing my sanity and making sure my kids have a healthy relationship with food? Thank you
I'll put this on the list on my list to discuss!
NETFLIX AND CHILLED!!! They have a vegan version and it blows my mind every damn time! 💜💜
It's really interesting that in Canada the recommendation is that you introduce nut allergens early (which is what I feel I would do) when in the UK (where I live) the government advice is no nuts before five incase of allergies.
It would be interesting to see a comparison of this advice and reasons for the different recommendations around the world.
Really? I was told by my health visitor to start nuts and other allergens from 6 months! My daughter's first food was peanut butter lol
I can put this on the list to discuss!
I got the opposite advice with my baby and I'm in the UK. I was told allergens early and often, this is also on the NHS website.
@@tintinsparkles yes the new evidence says early and often
I LOVE this kind of video abbey! don't get me wrong, I also love your wieiad, and other information about nutrition. but i love to see this side from you. You should try making video about what i cook for my children series, and workout routine! i am not a mom- still studying at college in fact, but i would love to see those kind of videos to gain perspective for my future kids😃🥰
I'm so glad you find them helpful! Thanks for the suggestions
I love how you are talking to us just like your kids- almond squeeze packie... i know you talk all day to the kids & its hard to turn that switch off 😂
Yup 😂
I used to roll the baby bell wax into a ball and make little sculptures with them lol. Like little cats, dogs, and hedgehogs.
😂yup!
Honestly you’re my favvvv youtuber!!! I get so excited when you post :)))
Aw thank you!
Can we get more singing Abbey? Because I love her 😅
And did anyone else think of TMNT when Abbey said "half shell" 😂👌
Aw thank you!
Abbey, the tonight’s dough from Ben and Jerry’s is sooo good!
I'll have to try that!
I love ordering my groceries online! I find that I stick to my budget better!
Yum! So happy to have found your channel 🥰
The energy in the video is amazing lol
omg i used to be obsessed with mama chia packets... brought them to school everyday and my friends would ration out portions from one pack to give everyone a little bit 💀
Oh no 😫
Honestly, this video made me so jealous of all the delicious food (that I have never tried in my life).
It is all really delicious!
Sounds great!
So Delicious Dairy Free Snickerdoodle Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert is my current 100% favorite. Haven’t had real dairy ice cream in a long time so hard to say how it adds up but it is certainly my favorite.
As much as I love Netflix and Chilld, I would say Häagen-Dazs Spéculoos and salted caramel is just that next level up ☺️
Sounds amazing!
Loved this so much!! Such a fun video.
Thanks!
30 minutes of pure joy talking about food 😍 it would be a very helpful if you could make a video about your meal preparation and how you used it trough the week. Thanks!
I will put this on my list to do!
😂😂
Great video!! You spoke about exposure to allergy-foods (nuts ect.) for small kids. Would love a whole video on child nutrion!
For sure! I actually have a post about this topic on my blog: www.abbeyskitchen.com/how-and-when-to-introduce-food-allergens/
YAS I love this video! Could watch it over and over again 😂🤎
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Ben and Jerry’s americone dream is my favorite but now I must try the Netflix and chilled next time. Thanks for all the great recommendations!
your hair looks really nice, it's lovely like this
Thank you!
Came for the grocery haul, stayed for the Fran Drescher clip. Great video!
Thanks!
Oooh never been this fast, Hey Abbey!! Excited to watch
I hope it's helpful!
She low key can sing though. Love this channel
Love this video! And I love when you sing🤩
Thank you!
"I'm Canadian so we gotta have our maple syrup."
_holds up bottle of Vermont maple syrup_
😱
Cuz Thrive is american...
@@Shanngella yup!
Thank you, I'm so glad you find it helpful! 😊
mint chocolate cookie, gimme s’mores, and chubby hubby are my top 3 fav ben and jerrys!! definitely reccomend. i’ve had about 25 different flavors and those are my top 3
Yum!
your videos bring so much joy to my Monday nights!
I'm so glad!
Wow you have so many Thrive finds I hadn’t seen before😍 ALSO, big yes to the Netflix & Chill’d ice cream. Best flavor agreed!!
Totally!
I also used to do my grocery shopping online waay before the pandemic, I find it easier to comb through unnecessary spending when I see the final price rank up.
Hello :) I have really been enjoying your videos :) you mentioned that you cook
Meat and veggies and grains and then have them in the fridge so you can throw together and top with sauce. Such a great idea! Could you give me some sauce ideas? Thanks :) oh one more question! Do you microwave the dishes or heat on stove or do you eat them cold?
Yessss! I love videos like this - keep them coming
Graeter’s ice cream makes a strawberry chip with huge chunks of chocolate swirled through. It’s only available in April, I look forward to it every year!
Sounds amazing!
Omg! I do the same with my avocados I also add pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds on top. Sun dried tomatoes are relish too.
Love the mama chia squeezes!!!
I love that macadamia nut mylk for vanilla lattes!!! 😍
Yum!
Wax is the best part!!! Not to eat but having that little throw away stim/figit toy for snack time is just I it just completes my soul. Eat the cheese, play with the wax.
😂yup!
