    Well thought out and designed. For the roll cutter just move the "blade" to the bottom with the sandpaper threading through it for easy access. Will also eliminate the issue of catching your clothes or skin. Now there's something else I have to build for my workshop. Get a PayPal account so we can purchase the designs/plans of some of your projects. I'm sure I won't be the only one interested. Hope you enjoyed the honeymoon, welcome back. (Flashing the wedding ring like we weren't going to notice)😂😂

    Great cabinet... Very useful and compact
    You can also use a old metal sawblade underside the cabinet and leave a little gap between the cabinet and the saw by using a washer and run the sandpaper through the gap to pull it and ripe it off. No sharp corners.

    • @ggmegyeri
      @ggmegyeri 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Its a nice idea but I find it completely useless with his shelf design together. He already built the shelves with the same functionality so there is no point in using the applicator. He could apply discs directly from the shelves instead of removing from the shelf in order to put on the applicator for applying on to the sander. I bet he'll not use it :)

    • @WoodshopJunkies
      @WoodshopJunkies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@ggmegyeri the dowels in the drawers are longer to store more discs. The holes in the sander aren't deep enough to reach all the way to the bottom of the drawer.

    • @havenmakes
      @havenmakes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WoodshopJunkies I noticed that too. You could just put the sander on the dowels as far as it will go and push the sandpaper up onto the sanding pad.

    A hacksaw blade makes a great sand paper cutter. They are plenty sharp, but in your application what makes them good is the fact that are rounded on the end and won't catch on your arm as you walk by.

    One cool hint. Glue a magnet strip to your wall. Hold things link your router table wrench in arm's reach but off the table. Magnets and velcro are friends. I add magnets to almost everything to hold stuff. Navy boats are metal, go magnets.

    for your sandpaper cutter take an old hacksaw blade and fasten it to the lip with some washers to space it out a bit. Then feed the paper roll into it from underneath and cut it by pulling downward. Nice and safe and effective. Same could work on the file side of the box. Keep up the great work. Also nice paint job :)

    I would put a hack saw blade underneath the box to cut the roll. i would put a couple washers between the blade and the wood. This would hold the paper up like you wanted and would allow you to cut the paper. You could also put a blade on the side in the same fashion to cut the big sheets of sandpaper. Just a thought. This is a great unit and looks like it will be very helpful. Thanks for the video.

    Great job......you have been sorely missed......when you don't post videos, I have to watch boring crap! Hahaha....congratulation, I'm glad you've joined the ranks of allot of us mate!You can always use a used hack saw blade with holes drilled in it. That way you can feed the rolds behind the blade because you will apply a small washer under the blade when screwing it in......I use this technique on my clamp cart for my blue painters tape at glue ups!

    Awesome project. You are very innovative making the most of everything. A couple of things you might want to think about. Try a hacksaw blade set back slightly from the front edge and spaced with washers for your cut off. You can slip the rolled sandpaper under it and it will double as a holder to keep the end of the roll out of the way. Second, maybe add labeling on the drawers to denote the grit of disk inside. I love your ingenuity man. Keep it up.

    Great video as always! Effective use of the small space!
    About the applicator: since all boxes with the extra sanding discs are already perfectly aligned you dont need the extra applicator underneath the orbital sander.
    Just pull out the box and align the sander, voila!

  • @davidbondi
    @davidbondi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So many great ideas in one build! One possible improvement on the tear-off for the rolled sandpaper is to use an old hacksaw blade. You could mount it under the cabinet in front of the rolls, spaced by a washer, flip the rolls so the unroll at the top, thread them between the hacksaw blade and the bottom of the cabinet and then you are ready to go. Pull out what you want, pull down/across and you have what you want.
