    Hold On
    Its plain to see
    we live in our own reality
    but was it meant to be
    that we’re alone, that we’re all alone?
    Stars shine, and spirits align
    yet we’re all different kinds
    but we’re together, yeah we’re all together
    And we can find the way home
    and you know we’re not alone
    and though the road seems so long
    we gotta hold on, gotta hold on
    Seek and you will find
    its always been on the prophets mind
    dont tow the line
    you’ll be forgiven, yeah, forgiven
    and we can find the way home
    and you know we’re not alone
    and though the road it seems so long
    we gotta hold on, yeah we gotta hold on
    Seize the day
    dont throw your life away
    feel the trees as they sway
    and know you’re livin yeah you’re livin
    And we can find the way home
    and you know we’re not alone
    and though the road it seems so long
    we gotta hold on, gotta hold on
    and all through the night
    they keep saying we gotta fight
    but we’re just trying to find the light
    we gotta be strong, we gotta hold on

    I think that if I didn't know he was one of the best jazz guitarists in the world, I'd still kind of dig it. It has an urgency of feeling that seems sincere.

    I have listened to this several times now over the past month. This is a hit! Should have more than 38K views. Why isn't this on radio and TV? When Kurt appeared out of no where from my past at Eric Clapton's 2013 festival, I was watching to see what Kurt would do. He appears to be broadening his musical genre and I like it!

    I used to watch Kurt as a teenager play in Philly with his local band called Urban Fall. They were like a teenage 80's Echo and the Bunny men. This reminds me of it.

    Dig it! I like the new direction and the video is interesting. It does take balls to go out on a stylistic limb like this. Rosenwinkel has a lot more to say as an ARTIST - not just a guitarist - than straight ahead jazz could convey. The message is positive and that's more than most music these days can claim.

    Just sampled the album off his website - really great. Like someone else wrote, in a way, sounds like a new chapter of what he started on 'Heartcore'. A 'hybrid music' that is informed by many musical cultures/genres, yet distills all those influences and makes them simultaneously 'personal and universal'. If anything, KR has always been an original voice, an innovator in terms of sonic palette, a master of harmonic subtlety and shadings. His singing and lyrics are truthful and genuine, and for what it's worth a desperately needed antidote to the current mindset that spews division, radicalism, bigotry, segregation, narcissism, sterility, robotic lifelessness, disregard for the environment, as well as the (IMO) false idea that mechanistic technology/worldview alone will 'set us free'.

    very nice melody and arrangement. While it takes a bit of time to get used to Kurt's singing, upon a few listening iterations, it turns out I find the song stays on my mind. I like it indeed. New direction from a master.

    Nice. Expanding Audience Territories. I do not know what Rosenwinkel proposed philosophically within the new aesthetic. But I only know that he plays so much that maybe he has some anguish of the return based on unpopularity of the instrumental music in general. It's a matter of new tastes and tones. And before some jerk come to say some bullshit, it's totally legitimate, dignified and no degradation play something more popular to someone who has immersed in new oceans just like this. For a matter of reference John Coltrane, Miles and old other cats would aprove that attitude. I'm pretty sure.

    • @yohenson
      @yohenson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      think its just exploration for him and being more clear on what he has to say. jazz is totally abstract without knowing what it really means besides a good vibe and musing. it doesnt have an accurate statement.

    • @maick95
      @maick95 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mr Coltrane himself felt the need to chill when starting his avant garde period. When he had some harsh feedback from the critics, he released Ballads, and the album with Johnny Hartman.

If anyone has an appreciation for music and digs this, jazz, fusion, rock, and classic pop, definitely check out Steven Wilson's latest stuff as well. Way to go Kurt! Hope to see you in NYC in a few weeks!

    Excellent tune, Kurt. And your singing (lyrics) sounds really nice. I haven't heard the rest of this Caipi release yet, but this "Hold On" tune feels like a direct extension from your Heartcore, 2003 record to me, somehow. But "songs," if you know what I mean. Way to go. That's not an easy thing to have done. PLEASE MAKE A RECORD OF SONGS WITH REBECCA MARTIN!!!@#$%^&

    One of those songs that creep into your head and it's very hard to push them away, at least until another one comes to take its place. 😁
    The song's beginning is quite reminiscent of Radiohead's "Knives out".

    I am a big fan of his guitar skills - not so much his singing, lyrics, and "philosophy" (being a negativism person myself).
    I applaud his guts in doing this - hope his new record has mostly jazz improv.....I loved all his other recordings and Zhivago especially.

    I think Caipi has the potential to be a great album but the vocals... they stop the album from being what it could have been. I hope he improves his vocal technique or hires a singer if he plans to include them in his next album.

    • @Qyniuq
      @Qyniuq 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I'm not disappointed at all with his singin, altough he's clearly not a good singer I think we should stop asking for virtuosity everywhere, he's a genius with the guitar and the vocals just fits perfectly with the feeling of the song, I kinda like it, the melody is simple and it's enough.
