Hello from Ireland, looks like such a nice place to be and easy going lifestyle you have going.... Have watched many of your videos and love the different content and scenery.
@The JL totally agree, everyone hates living around here but yet theres parts that are only unique to new England. So much history that never get taught and alot too explore.
@@post.10 I am well aware of that, as my uncle was in the railways during the steam-age. We have some legendary mountain passes in the region where I live. Sadly trains are neglected nowadays.
Hitch up a few beavers, and tell them there's a big pot of twigs at the end of the rainbow waiting for them, and they'll pull whatever you want, including your leg.
I`m a regular visitor to your videos post and i have to say i really envy you. You live in an explorers paradise with wide open spaces we in Britain can only dream about. It used to be easy to watch many trains here but, in the 50`s and early 60`s before Beeching abolished them and closed the lines down. Now, the majority of trains are passenger electric trains on mainlines with just a small fraction of freight. Nothing on the scale you enjoy over there so, don`t ever knock where you live, i certainly wouldn`t if i lived there.
I am sorry for your situation but you made me realize how lucky I am where I live since it is littered with freight trains. I moved away for a while and honestly I had trouble falling asleep without the train horns and shaking (when I lived right next to the tracks they shook the house)
@@Firestonetheunicorn Its strange is it not that we never hear the noise until we listen for it and when all we hear are birds and insects, the silence drives you nuts. I now live on a very busy main road but, although buses and car as well as numerous emergency vehicles go by all day, i rarely hear them except for all the sirens on police, fire and ambulances. I`m also a stones throw away from Glasgow Airport ( flight path ) and there too, i rarely hear them. Sadly, no trains. It must also be a very heartwarming sound to hear the sound of train horns in the distance. Your trains are very different from ours.
@@andyhughes5885 I have never posted anything before but if you like trains I live about 30 minutes away from one of (if not the but I don't want to misinform) largest freight intermodal stations in the world. I could go up there and get some footage for ya if you like trains
1940s cinema has me convinced there’s a lot of hobos and drifters in those cars, enjoying some baked beans right out of the cans. Haha. Thanks for sharing! Who doesn’t love watching trains. ✌️
The second stone railway viaduct ever built is located at Relay, Md, is still in use for main-line passenger and freight traffic between Washington, DC and Baltimore, Md. It's a beautiful multi-arch structure built on a curve. Oh if ever I would visit the Balkans. I Google Earth the landscape, thinking of Tito and a unified Yugoslavia. I would love to see your land and it's old railway tunnels.
When I visited America many years ago I remember following the Pacific highway . At one point we stood on a viewing platform to watch a train go by . I couldn’t believe how many carriages went by . I lost count around the 80 mark . It went through a tunnel and as it appeared out of another tunnel further up it was still going passed us going into the lower tunnel . We were told by a couple who joined us us that trains don’t really go up steep hills so within the tunnel was a circular track to bring it up gradually. I hope I’ve remembered that right
Saw a railfan vid, and thought "Oh, cool!" Then saw it was by Post 10, and was like, "is he draining railroad tracks, now? I'm confused". Glad to see he examined the storm drain before the train went by. The world makes sense again. :D
Great camera view of the train going in/coming out of the tunnel! The click-clack of the wheels was nice, the screeching was not. I hope the drain problem is solved soon! Happy Easter!
Happy Easter and thank you for bringing us this fantastic video, it is great to see this railroad and tunnel so well used. The drainage, as you said, will be a problem during snow melt, the water could undermine the railroad. This was a very interesting video, it was a great idea of yours to put the camera there.
Coo! I think i may have seen part of the 3rd from the last train at ballardvale in north andover. Prolly not but some of the cars and tanks stuck out. Cool videos buddy you rock.
I grew up along that line in the little village of Shelburne Falls, MA. The sound of the trains in comforting. I recommend a visit to my home town if you have a chance. It has a lot to offer. A fire tower on the hilltop, a rail yard, glacial potholes at the river, and the world famous Bridge of Flowers.
I’ve always thought the sound of trains was comforting, too. It’s like the ringing of a clock tower, a reminder that civilisation is getting on with stuff and that it’s pulse is alive, steady and regular. For some reason, car traffic doesn’t evoke the same feeling. The shift siren at a nearby factory in my youth was the same.
Hey Post, happy Easter and thanks for your TH-cam channel. It’s a unique and valuable contribution when all around is dross. We, your fans, all love it and I hope it gives you fulfilment in life.

Those trains are hypnotically long!? I can't imagine the tractive force needed to pull all those wagons...
Some actually have slippage pulling off so the locomotives spit sand in front of the wheels

Trains through the Hoosac Tunnel tend to have about 3200 kN of continuous tractive effort available to them

Well done! I'm just really impressed that tunnel can accommodate plate H. I didn't think at the beginning that it could fit a doublestack.
