    A good idea when editing the text layer would be to hide the selection with ctrl/cmd + H so the text is not inverted. Works especially well when choosing the text colour.

  • @craigpiferphotography

    I'm not sure the task bar is better than just using the type panel, but it's nice to be able to have an additional way to access some of these settings.

    These type settings were always there. Just not in that bar. If you go to the Window drop menu, and activate “Character” you will find many more useful letter/fond adjustments (even adjusting letter's own width and hight - great for 1st letter in par being larger but in same font).

    • @photoshopcafe

      The first letter being different is called a drop cap, or initial cap. My background is in graphic design. I wonder if I should do a tutorial on typography?

    • @justcd123

      @@photoshopcafeAs you mentioned in your video, not all viewers knows typefaces and hence then also perhaps not the term "Drop Cap" 😉 It seemed that you might have been oblivious to the fact that this “new feature” has been in the app during your presentation. Expecting that you would mention where it can be found with more powerful options, and not only show your viewers the sidebar option was peculiar. So, if they did not know, not being experts with typefaces and on your level of mastery, now they know where to find more options as well. 😘

      @@justcd123 Thanks for your input and help to new users.

    • @justcd123

      @@photoshopcafePerhaps you should consider doing a tutorial on typo. Many have seen what certain effects looks like, perhaps want to use it, but do not know what to call it and how to find it (and that it can even be achieved in PS).
      Bet many does not know how to let text follow the curves of an object in a picture (adjustment options - again - layman's terms). Or even just the basic warped text options....
      I am sure they will love to know. Most probably think it can only be done in specialized page layout applications?

  • @FotomakerAcademy

    I don't use Type often, but your spacing related pointers to the new access options are helpful when needed! Wasn't there a new "bad" (at least to me) feature that's making me hold off updating? Were the Render > Lighting FX filters removed with the release?

    I could have really used this just yesterday. 😂 I rarely use text in PS but needed to yesterday and had to fumble around to remember things. The little toolbar option seems a bit more simple. Go figure! Lol

  • @yannmaenden7236

    Very interesting - thank you.
    Personally I think the use of 'tracking' depends on the font. It's OK with plain fonts like those used on road signs, but if you're using a fancy font with lots of twirly bits you might be better off with 'kerning'.
    I'm not sure I completely agree with your advantages. For example you can step through actions and you can stack LUTs and adjust them individually. But the new adjustment layer system is probably the way to go.

    • @photoshopcafe

      I agree about the font. Yes, totally font and use dependant

  • @handfp

    I understand that any BlendIf adjustment you have made does not get saved if you create your own preset. I think this happened in your own example @ 2'52".

    • @selwynbear4745

      You're absolutely correct. Any masking you apply also does not "stick" in the presets. Piximperfect explains this in his video

    I’m loving the ability to create and save my own Adjustment Presets. However, I was not able to get PS to save a Solid Color layer in my preset. I used ‘Gradient Map instead and it worked fine. Have you been able to incorporate Solid Color into your presets?

    How is an adjustment preset different than an action?

    • @photoshopcafe

      There are more differences than similarities. An action is a recording of sequential steps. A preset is non linear

    • @selwynbear4745

      the main differences are that you can visualize the adjustment presets. An action allows the use of masks & blend if@@photoshopcafe

    • @photoshopcafe

      @@selwynbear4745 While both end up with the same (or similar end results - also doesn't support solid color adjustments) An action is a totally different process. An action records almost everything you do on screen (notable exception- brush strokes, and any brush strokes on masks among others). When you play it back, it will repeat all the tasks you performed (provided the initial conditions are the same or at least compatible). I have created an entire course on actions if that's interesting to you, also include batch processing, conditional and variables, actions can be very powerful, but complex. A preset, simply applies what was saved, in this case adjustment layers (all adjustment layers contain a mask) and blending modes.
