Thank you so much Colin! Very helpful and informative tutorial and tips! Good luck!
Thx for sharing; nice and clear !
Thank You very much, Colin!
You da man Colin. I appreciate you teaching about any new updates.
Thanks! Glad to help
Appreciate all of your tuts Colin, including updates. I never realized that you could get rid of the Lorem Ipsum text with 4 consecutive clicks - thank you!
happy to help
For an 80+ year old, simple examples like this are ever so helpful, thank you. I have to take it really slow, stop, start etc lol
I’m glad this is helping you!
Thanks for sharing. I find these new updates quite useful. Thanks.
awesome
Thanks for sharing.
Finally some better Type settings....Thanks for showing us.
glad to help
Awesome tutorial. thank you
thanks
Thanks!
I use Text for a majority of my work and this is a welcome addition to the Task Bar. Thanks for letting me know.
Glad you find it handy
Thanks for this, Colin. BTW, I downloaded some very useful files from the VAULT,,,thanx again.
Great to hear!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
A good idea when editing the text layer would be to hide the selection with ctrl/cmd + H so the text is not inverted. Works especially well when choosing the text colour.
I'm not sure the task bar is better than just using the type panel, but it's nice to be able to have an additional way to access some of these settings.
options are good
Excellent! 🎉🙏🏼😃
thanks
This is one of those updates internally noted as "We have to push out something..."
These type settings were always there. Just not in that bar. If you go to the Window drop menu, and activate “Character” you will find many more useful letter/fond adjustments (even adjusting letter's own width and hight - great for 1st letter in par being larger but in same font).
The first letter being different is called a drop cap, or initial cap. My background is in graphic design. I wonder if I should do a tutorial on typography?
@@photoshopcafeAs you mentioned in your video, not all viewers knows typefaces and hence then also perhaps not the term "Drop Cap" 😉 It seemed that you might have been oblivious to the fact that this “new feature” has been in the app during your presentation. Expecting that you would mention where it can be found with more powerful options, and not only show your viewers the sidebar option was peculiar. So, if they did not know, not being experts with typefaces and on your level of mastery, now they know where to find more options as well. 😘
@@justcd123 Thanks for your input and help to new users.
@@photoshopcafePerhaps you should consider doing a tutorial on typo. Many have seen what certain effects looks like, perhaps want to use it, but do not know what to call it and how to find it (and that it can even be achieved in PS).
Bet many does not know how to let text follow the curves of an object in a picture (adjustment options - again - layman's terms). Or even just the basic warped text options....
I am sure they will love to know. Most probably think it can only be done in specialized page layout applications?
I don't use Type often, but your spacing related pointers to the new access options are helpful when needed! Wasn't there a new "bad" (at least to me) feature that's making me hold off updating? Were the Render > Lighting FX filters removed with the release?
They haven't worked for a while now. I keep an old version for that and 3D
Be nice if Adobe could give you the option of pinning the contextual task bar vertically on the left hand side tool menu with flyout options like other tools.
That’s a great idea. You should suggest it in adobes forums
Thanks
Welcome
I could have really used this just yesterday. 😂 I rarely use text in PS but needed to yesterday and had to fumble around to remember things. The little toolbar option seems a bit more simple. Go figure! Lol
Very interesting - thank you.
Personally I think the use of 'tracking' depends on the font. It's OK with plain fonts like those used on road signs, but if you're using a fancy font with lots of twirly bits you might be better off with 'kerning'.
I'm not sure I completely agree with your advantages. For example you can step through actions and you can stack LUTs and adjust them individually. But the new adjustment layer system is probably the way to go.
I agree about the font. Yes, totally font and use dependant
I understand that any BlendIf adjustment you have made does not get saved if you create your own preset. I think this happened in your own example @ 2'52".
You're absolutely correct. Any masking you apply also does not "stick" in the presets. Piximperfect explains this in his video
Finally something better than Actions.
I’m loving the ability to create and save my own Adjustment Presets. However, I was not able to get PS to save a Solid Color layer in my preset. I used ‘Gradient Map instead and it worked fine. Have you been able to incorporate Solid Color into your presets?
You are right, solid color not working on mine either
Hi Colin, thanks for this tutorial. My PS cc 2024 however is on ver 25.2.0 and Beta on ver 25.7.0. When will we be updated to ver 25.5.1, do you know?
If you are in a different country, maybe its coming at a different time?
Colin which section of the Vault has these luts/presets.
Under Lightroom/ACR/Photoshop presets
When seeing a "test" Update and seing you making a selection I did hope so much adobe would finaly have build in a feature to let Text flow around a subject (aka let text follow a selection. They did not.- Too bad.
you actually can do that with a vector path
Thank you, i like your videos they are really informative, there is just one thing, please do less zooming in and out too much it's so distracting, thank you again for your dedication
I disagree completely. I’ve actually requested presenters to do More zooming. Some interested users are older & have problems with tiny print. Yeah, I’m a boomer 😂
Hmm, so you don’t mind things being small? Or you want me to stay zoomed in? Just trying to understand what is most helpful
@@BenSussmanprohow do you feel my balance of zooming is?
@@photoshopcafe Of course it's my POV, the red rectangle where you click or focus is enough for me, maybe because I'm watching the video on my 27" iMac, I have a hard time keeping my eyes following the fast zoom-in and out, left and right especially when it's fast I have a slow processor in my head😀🧠. with all my respect for others' opinion ❤
@@photoshopcafeI think it’s just right- I realize you also have to zoom-out to show contextual layout. Great presentation, thanks!
Succinct video. And, although tiny update, it will help. Text tips were really useful, especially increasing readability by increasing space for small print! (I will send the link to the big pharma companies!!).
Glad to help
hi, Antonio how make sky blue while keeping clouds white? can you teach that?
Who’s Antonio?
@@photoshopcafe sorry, I was asking in to places Colin.
Dude, those letter options have been there FOREVER, THEY ARE NOT NEW!!! been using those for more than 4 years. OMG!!
How is an adjustment preset different than an action?
There are more differences than similarities. An action is a recording of sequential steps. A preset is non linear
the main differences are that you can visualize the adjustment presets. An action allows the use of masks & blend if@@photoshopcafe
@@selwynbear4745 While both end up with the same (or similar end results - also doesn't support solid color adjustments) An action is a totally different process. An action records almost everything you do on screen (notable exception- brush strokes, and any brush strokes on masks among others). When you play it back, it will repeat all the tasks you performed (provided the initial conditions are the same or at least compatible). I have created an entire course on actions if that's interesting to you, also include batch processing, conditional and variables, actions can be very powerful, but complex. A preset, simply applies what was saved, in this case adjustment layers (all adjustment layers contain a mask) and blending modes.
Its always had leading and tracking.
yup, but not in the taskbar
The text will help, but I am not that high on the pre sets
cool
Clicking accurately four times on anything is beyond my co-ordination skills until at least my third cup of coffee. Isn't it easier to double click on the text layer icon in the layers panel ?
quad click is easiest for me, I'm a guitar player ;) lots of ways to do everything in PS
Leading and Tracking has been in Photoshop for a long time. I don't understand why this is being called a new feature.
It’s new in the task bar. Adobe highlights as a NF. Don’t shoot the messenger lol
@@photoshopcafeAh… that answer the question I was about to post.
Missing "Text Wrap"
yup
AI: RIP PS
nobody use that, as simple as that, use for picture work PS and for Font work Indesign. S O W H A T ?
Thanks!
you're welcome
