- It is that time of year again in the U.S. capital, when young, old, rich and poor gather at the city's Tidal Basin to enjoy the blooming cherry blossom trees. Almost 100 years ago, the mayor of Tokyo gave the city three thousand cherry trees. And ever since then, each spring, in good times and bad, their beauty have soothed the soul of people who travel from across the country and the world to enjoy their fleeting beauty. VOA sent photographer Mike Kornely and his camera to the Tidal Basin and here is his video postcard.

@andreataraz Around the tidal basin, near the Jefferson Memorial, south of the National Mall. It is a fantastic sight.
More about people than about cherry blossoms?
But still an interesting documentary.
How do you get the people to talk naturally?

Hi, Do you like japanese Cherry Blossoms?
you can see and feel yo-zakura(Night Cherry Blossoms).
It's small picture, but if you see it longtime,
you feel town and sakura, like a Bonsai.
Can you find small and move picture?

Hi there, may AccuWeather use this video on our media platforms with credit to you?
I presened those in 1912.
In fact it was march 27, 1912
Well, but there was also Pearl Harbor...
I'm a Japanese and please do not say like that, even though you say for this Japan. it is the past and most Japanese and American today were not born yet at that time. No one is responsible for that. Moreover Japan has been protected by US army with the nuclear weapons ironically so Japan has no right to criticize atomic bomb x2 as long as Japan is protected by US army, don't we? I don't want Japanese to blame US like Korean or Chinese do to us, playing victims for political reasons.
Eastbound and Down did it better
