I love this wood working book WoodKing.xyz . A few of the topics talked about in the book include wood working strategies, explanation on the development cycles of trees, and various lumber characteristics that craftsmen favor. I also provided my father another copy.

This was way easier than your last pencil project. And you even put them in the beautiful pencil holder for display! This jig is cool, these pencils are cool, and you are a cool dude. Thanks for sharing!
This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?
It was great hanging with Andrew last week at WBC. His Kickstarter on his bench vice is already fully funded in less than a day. Another cool jig from Andrew.
This video put one huge smile on my face! This type of project is exactly what makes this hobby so damned cool. Shout out to Andrew for such a clever jig!! Cheers
A couple of years ago there was this "artisinal pencil sharpening" thing going on, which seemed like a total joke... Now we see something like this popping up. You guys are just so far out there it's unbelievable!
The Essential Wood Book is soooo good, I have it on loan from the library currently (Where else to get plans) but the detail it gives on the wood its self is great!
Totally digging the "Gimbal Backing Track" for Cameraman Dan to do his thing. Funny thing is, I actually prefer it at 1.75 speed. Keep doing your thing Picciuto!! Love your stuff!
No offense but if you lose your pencils what makes you think you won't lose these as well. It is a novel idea but using exotic woods that will be just sharpened away is a waste in my opinion. But if it turns your crank go for it. Regards.
Woods by colleen pencils used 24 species. Of exotic wood back in 1996.. super sought after by pencil. Collectors.. idr the name. But a company owned by employees from colleen still makes the pencils now that colleen is gone from Japan... It's like hundreds of. Dollars tho
Has numerous details in this woodwork book *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . The book also displays several designs and descriptions on the materials used for various woodworking processes and also the guidelines on completing various procedures appropriately. In other words, I`m happy using this book, especially in the process of learning about wood working.?
Neat project! It might be fun to try to match the color of the wood with the colored pencil leads. Purpleheart, Osage orange, etc. You might need to sharpen the pencils the same way you do your chisels though...
How many pencils do you need sell to cover the cost of the jig and materials and labor? and/or are you able to use it for anything other than pencils? could you use to make carpenter pencils with it? thanks
I am looking at the feasibility of having fun too. Where the heck to find graphite and color 'lead' that is wooden pencil size (not mechanical pencil size?
Hey, David. I have a wild hair and would love to get started on making my own hand crafted pencils. I’m a collector of pencils and have enjoyed them most of my life. I always felt if I had the knowledge and the tools, I could make a pencil that I truly want and could share with friends. My question is, what can I do to get started on this journey? What are the tools I should consider buying and resources to look into (besides your channel, of course) to embark on this exciting side quest in my life? Thanks in advance! -Chase
Those are really fun pencils. what price would you ask if you were selling those? Whats a handcrafted pencil cost? I'm not in the market but I would like to know.
After getting this stuff few days ago, I could hardly put it down afterwards [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* ]. There are lots of colorful pictures, with detailed descriptions of every step in the project. You will never miss your way using this plan. It was more than I expected.?
Would love to get one but $120 shipping to France is way too much! I've ordered a lot of stuff from the US it's never been so expensive even for large or heavy objects... Maybe they could be a cheaper option? (Slow USPS vs FedEx for instance).
Great video. At first glance I thought you were making chopsticks. I want to see you make chopsticks. Some super nice grain with variety of colors and perhaps the use of colored epoxy.
The indigogo page he has is selling them for $35, with it being marked down from $50. Looks like only three have sold at this time, so if there isnt much of an online market there may not be much of a craft show market.
Acabo de comprar el libro bandsaw box, me gusta bastante pero hay un problemilla, ciertas cosas no las entiendo bien... Para cuando un libro en español? No estaría nada mal... Un saludo desde España.
That is a cool jig. I wonder whether there is as big a market for shopmade pencils as there is for pens, but I can think of a number of weird things to make with this already. Any ideas regarding shipping to Germany? Thanks for sharing, David!
Once again awesome video an I can’t wait for payday to get down on this pencil maker! Stoked on the giveaway I need that shop math book somethin fierce! As per I never made it past basic math due to a learning curve some may say disability I say curve cause I’m still pursuing my dream in wood! Thanks for the videos an the podcast man!
Wouldn't it be faster to glue them and then cut them? Also wouldn't they turn out more uniform? You could make a 2 wood pencil. Light wood for half and a dark wood for the other half.
Thanks for showing the tool off David!
It's super cool! I love it. Thanks Andrew!
Hey look, the mad scientist is in chat. If only I made pencils lol, very nice jig Andy :)
Great job!
Already pledged. Instabuy!
Awesome jig Andrew! :D
This is going to change the game, this makes writing accessible to anyone!

I do too! And now I want to make pencils with them. Thanks for sharing.
I bought some Harbor Freight clamps once, broke the first time I used them.
Me before watching: Why the heck would I wanna make pencils??
Me after watching: I kinda wanna make pencils.
Ha!
What a cool use for scrap wood and leave it to Andy to revolutionize a process.
Any project that can effectively reuse scrap wood is truly amazing!
Thanks for showcasing Andrew he’s brilliant. Awesome pencils by the way David! And congrats on 500k brother!

Awesome! Now you need to come up with a use for all those beautiful curls that come off your plane!
I never thought I'd want to make a pencil... Now I do

Thank for sharing how to use the jig! The pencils look rad!
What a cool way to different wood types of pencils

Really cool...leave it to Andy to solve a pain point! He's good at that.
Looks great. Love those Harbor Freight clamps! Can never have enough
Thank you for your continued use of Harbor Freight clamps! Makes me feel part of the club.

Thanks Bill!
Hipster that didn’t know desks were slanted. CLASSIC

Awesome! I still have the one you made!!!
As often as I loose my pencils and have to purchase new ones, ...thanks!!! This will save so much time and money and I'll have a great time as well!

Tens of thousands? Do I have another shop I don't know about? 😄
Next episode, live edge epoxy river pencils!!!! 😝👍🏼
Never thought i would watch a video about David putting led in his pencil.
I’m interested in how multi species pencils would look and how many different variations are feasible

Gonna have to get me one of them.
You teased this on the podcast, and I’ve been waiting for it!
Would it make sense to cut the box joints into the stock before resawing? It would save a ton of time.
Nifty jig! I'd love to have a maple burl shop pencil haha. Another fun video!

Why would you make your own pencils? Because it’s cool to make your own stuff. And because it’s fun. Nice video David, that jig is very clever.
Great job!
Thank you for sharing

Can you make it with resin ?
I'm going to try! I'm just not sure how well it'll plane.
What size/kind of plane is needed fit in the tracks of the pencil maker?
Most block planes will fit.
I love the collaboration! 👍🏼👍🏼
This will be something usefull in a post apocalyptic world and no, im not kidding sadly 😢 that could be a good tool for a dark future
