1970s Tokyo rainy streets and skyline - บันเทิง
I was there in the summer of 1971, as a teenager, there for the 13th World Jamboree (Boy Scouts). Got to visit the Ginza, the Tokyo tower, stayed at the Olympic Village and rode the subway.. We camped at the base of Mt. Fuji, and were hit by a Typhoon, and we were moved to Shizouka. The people of Japan are just wonderful!!!

When the 13th World Jamboree was held at the foot of Mt Fuji, my friend participated. He told me it. I just remember his pleasant story.

I'm Brazilian but I love Japan in the 70s 90s and 80s, these images are beautiful, a country growing fast, with a boosted economy, everyone going to work or study with a maximum dedication

Videos like these always give you an eerie feeling. Those nameless people of the past going about in their daily lives with its worries and obligations like we are now... Pretty soon we'll be people of the past too. Maybe someone will see us for 2 seconds on some obscure video 50 years from now.
It's just like old paintings from the renaissance on....all the people therein were based on models or friends/family of the artist. Now they're but dust and their once active and busy lives are forgotten to the mists of time, it's eerie, but also just life.

3:31 It's staggering to me to see the Tokyo Tower next to this open field with still green on it. Now this open field is filled with extremely high skyscrapers, diminishing the height of the Tokyo Tower. Impressive how Tokyo has changed in 50 years time.
I'm so interested to watch these cars, 60~70s jdm cars looks awesome.
1974,when a Japanese teenage girl named Keiko traveled in search for a person she never new,only from an old photo shown by her mother and the information that he is from Philippines,went bravely alone by herself to unfamiliar place,where people speak different language which she not know of,found the person she is looking for.
And on the following years,went back again,now together with her other older sister named Rieko to visit that person..They where left by this person when they where still young around 2 and 3 years old,same age as I am the first time we met.
Our father is gone,we haven't seen each other for a quite a long time now.
I wish to see my Japanese sisters again.
What is very noticeable when comparing Tokyo then to now is the huge improvement in air quality. The smog is very evident in this film which was always there. Nowadays except for the occasional inversion making things hazy the air is impressively clean and on a fresh, clear, windy winter day like today you can see all the way across the city to the mountains and beyond.
Thanks for the video. I lived in Japan (Yokohama, Yokosuka mostly) from 75-78. Got to drive in the traffic and of course use the trains and buses. I do miss Japan and the people there. Brings back some nice memories.

時の流れに胸がいっぱいです。
俺もですが憤懣だらけでしょうな。
ラーメンズのコントでそんなネタがあった。昭和に冷凍睡眠して、数十年先の現代を見ようとした男の話。
確かに携帯端末やインターネットなどの技術には大いに驚いたが、ビルや交通手段などビジュアル的な面で目に見えて発展していないことに凄くショックを受けていた。
電車の中でほぼ全員が下を向いてる光景に唖然とすると思う。
子供が少ないことに驚くんじゃね？
50年前の映像とは思えないぐらい綺麗ですね！
80系クラウンが走り、330系のセドリックが見当たらない点を考えると1975年の前半頃の映像と推察されます。
230系のセドかグロ、チラッ。
そういった視点で撮影時を特定できるなんて凄い！ 脱帽！

まだまだ初期モノを含めた230セドリック&グロリアが大半を占めていますが、130セドリック…そしてMS50クラウンタクシーはすっかり消えてしまってます。。
今なら10年経過くらいのタクシーはザラですが、当時は耐久性が低く5年ほどで廃車になると聞いたことがありますが、その通りですね^^;
Awe man that's a great look at Nakagin tower in the 70s! That's one of the defining buildings that brought me into the architectural world.
Tokyo 25 years after totally devastating was more developed than any Eastern European city 75 after WWII. Respect for Japanese society 🗾 🇯🇵

i missed Japan i was there in 1972-76 & 1986-89 while in active duty in the US Navy and i was stationed at Naval Air Facility in Atsugi.
Nostalgia for the era that ive never experienced..
ちょうど自分が大学生活を過ごした時期ですね。あの頃の思い出が蘇ってしまいます。あの頃は空気が汚かったですよね確かに。光化学スモッグの注意報とかもあったと思いますし、故郷に帰るときに羽田から飛行機に乗ると東京がスモッグに覆われていましたね。
ヘドラが出てきそうなスモッグですよね
まさに私も下目黒の安アパートで′大学生活を送っていた時代です。光化学スモッグの注意報が当たり前の日常でしたね。

私は現在アメリカのフロリダ州にずーっと住んでいます。お互いに日本を出てしまったんですね。（笑）。私の子供たちにすれば70年代は大昔に感じるみたいです。私たちの年代の日本人がとても少ないところに住んでいるので動画がよい思い出になります。
@@planetcoco1 さん。私もカナダにきて３０年近くになります。私のところも日本人は少ないです。私は１０代の頃にEaglesのHotel California が大好きでいつかアメリカに住みたいと思っていました、新婚旅行もわざわざそのジャケットの写真になってるBeverly Hills Hotelにいく様なミーハーでした（笑）。しかし今は何故か極寒のカナダにいる摩訶不思議。
フロリダは子供が小さい時にディズニーに連れて行ってたくさんいい思い出を作りました。本当にいいところですね、羨ましい限りです。これからもAmerican Lifeをエンジョイしてください。
It never ceases to amaze me with how much Japan developed within a short amount of time after the war. So many other countries in the world never figure out how to escape the aftermath of war. Japan was able to figure it all out while having NO natural resources and figured out how to use their ingenuity to create a country that is on the world stage.
I was curious how japan became so technologically advanced in such a short time. Apparently, after the war they didn't focus much on military because the US were kinda their military so they focused on education.

230セドリックが多くて、いかに売れていたかが分かりました。
『太陽にほえろ！』は数ある昭和時代の刑事物ドラマの中でもいちばん長続きしましたからね～～(^-^)

この動画当時の後、お台場副都心や動画内の新橋駅近くの汐留の
開発、六本木ヒルズとかの開業、近頃は新宿副都心や、丸の内
大手町エリアや、渋谷駅周りのビルの建て替えとかの再開発も
進んでますからね。
悲観的になるのはよくない。やろうと思えば日本だって世界一になれる。
しかし、凄いスモッグやな。
当時の日本は空気めちゃめちゃ汚いですね、、

Great video. I love trying to match these areas from the 70's with current pics from Google Maps. The Nakagin Capsule Tower in the far distance is no longer visible from the vantage point at 1:02 as a new building is blocking it. Though some of the surrounding buildings can still be discerned.

Time traveler exists, the camera is nikon d3400 which is manufactured in 2017 and the video was uploaded in 2016 and footage is from 1971.
1:20から左下に出てくるセドリックのタクシーのウインカー、今じゃ見られないブレーキとウインカーの兼用式だ！
しかしこのセドリックもマイナーチェンジでブレーキとウインカー別になりましたね。
1:29 左折待ちのグロリアタクシーがアンバー色のウインカーを点滅させていますね。
グロリアがテール外側…セドリックは３分割中央がウインカーになりました。

I was there for British Week 1970 with 42 Commando Royal Marines Great Time & even drove up Mt Fuji in our Land Rover!
Pure nostalgia to watch all those classic piles of rust driving in the streets. Flashback to my parents pea green 1976 Mazda 929. I blew the head gasket on that car 3 days after I got my license. Sub&like from me!

I think in this regard advanced might be subjective, because Shanghai has a well developed infrastructure on par with Tokyo, and still booming at rates comparable to post-war early decades in Japan. while most places are definetly tidy and modern in both cities, Shanghai has a lot of older stuff from reform&opening and even before, which might bring the 'old' look to some places while having all those modern, massive skyscrapers makes it even more contrasting. It's like you got Dubai, 20s New York and industrial age London in the same place. And back in the 90s, it was a largely old city. I think some 10-20 years from now Shanghai will pretty much look very similar in regards to development. I'd like to see more gleaming signs and LEDs, it makes the place look even more futuristic.

Seriously, Shanghai should maintain their old look and old buildings, I think it would be horrible for the city to give away their distinct look to become another soulless and generic modern "glass city" with full of fake neon-lights and dull futuristic feel. Shanghai as its own architectural identity, just like Tokyo and Hong Kong have theirs. I appreciate very much the Bund area, Nanjing road and the French quarter, please, keep those places intact.

現代の生活に慣れた自分が、仮にタイムスリップしてこの時代に行ったとしたらと考えた時、
おそらく異臭と空気の悪さ、光化学スモックの目の痛みで５分と持たない自信が有る。
あの当時は大して気にも留めてなかったのにね。こうやって映像を眺めて懐かしむ程度がちょうど良い気がする。
あ、でもタイムマシンが出来て、行き来出来るなら行ってみたい。完全防備でｗ
最初の新橋駅付近の映像は1971年頃で、途中から通行中の車両の発売時期から考察すると1974年から1975年、
後半の30秒ぐらいは遠方に池袋のサンシャイン60らしき高層ビルが映っているので1978年以降の映像でしょうか?

新橋駅…カメラがパンする 0:12、右下にちらりと74年4月発売のカローラ30 バンが見えています。
0:50 通過するクラウンは73年2月マイナーチェンジ後のテールライトのようです。
雨も降っていて服装からも、外濠通りの映像と同じく1975年10月と思われますね。

でも車が格段に進歩してますね。
多分今の方が空気が綺麗だと思います。銀座の道路場面の空や東京タワーももっと綺麗に見えると思います。

この数年前まであちこち走っていた軽乗用車が一気に少なくなっていることに注目！
軽トラックの数台しか見当たらないですね。
ホンダは1974年に軽乗用車の製造から手を引いています。
排気ガス規制とオイルショックで、2ストロークエンジンの軽自動車が生産中止になって、スバル、スズキ、ダイハツ、三菱、東洋工業(マツダ)は4ストロークエンジンの軽自動車の開発と生産に切り替わる頃ですね。

They weren't, they just look larger. Modern cars are in fact bigger.
they were smaller. many of the shared platforms today are designed for the american market and so the cars are much bigger today.

1974年に竣工したニューオータニの新館が映っていますね。ただただ懐かしい高度経済成長末期の東京。活気がありました。
1973年11月に高度経済成長は終わったが、
1978年春までは高度経済成長の延長線的でした。
1971年春から1977年春までは第2次ベビーブームでした

当時の流行歌ではないが、冒頭はまさに、ある雨の日の情景を見ているようだ。駅に入線する水色の京浜東北線と駅前の田村町を傘をさして歩く人たち。まるで心を隠すように寡黙に雨の中を行き交う勤め人たち。
