At 5:50 yes it is too much to ask. Cuz there is an agenda with Disney and the people that were hired didn’t care about Star Wars enough to even get some huge parts right. One of the actors believes it was Anakin that blew up the Death Star…….. it was Lando. Well first Luke and then Lando along with the entire rebellion. Point is, the same actors in the Acolyte don’t even know Star Wars and don’t bother to do homework on it. Cuz you know the actress who played Lucy in the fallout show? In her interview she literally said that she did a whole lot of research and even played two of the fallout games to under the franchise more. She said she didn’t even have to do that but she wants to feel hyped when playing the role as Lucy the vault dweller. That shows care and commitment. She’s literally in the same boat as the actors in the acolyte but the major difference is that she had respect for the franchise to learn about it. Again, the actress who played Lucy respected the franchise of fallout by learning about it. (I don’t know her name but I will cuz I like her that much! Also I’m bad with names and I take forever). Leslie doesn’t care, the actors hired don’t care, Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t care about Star Wars and it shows. So to them, it is too much to ask for good Star Wars content. Cuz they are too busy turning the world gay for no reason at all. Their woke agenda.
I’m sorry but I actually liked all of mannys character dialogue I know his name just don’t know how to spell it but I liked all the lines because of mannys performance I’ve always wanted a sith who was snarky while battling trying to get under the jedis skin and seemed like they were just having fun toying with them but knew when to step it up when he fought a formidable opponent like sol
I’m sorry but cringe dialogue is as classic Star Wars as the opening score. Once you just learn to accept that and stop looking at the old ones with nostalgia lenses the only writing that was cringier than OG Star Wars dialogue was the chant. I loved the Acolyte but I will not defend that chant, they did the witches dirty. lol phrasing. And as much as cutting the dialogue can make the fight scene better you’re ignoring the other things like the music! That’s the other great thing about Acolyte they got a guy that’s famous for doing music in horrors for Jordan Peele and it shows when Smilo Ren lands behind May that’s a chilling moment. Like other then the chant all the new themes for the characters and the reuse of classic stuff tweaked to be unique for the show, my favourite being when they cut to Courscant (sp) and it was a reworked version of when Anakin sees it for the first time.
Disney has ruined Star Wars. I know we focus a lot on lightsaber fights in particular, but everything else from all disney related Star Wars content has been awful too
Yeah i thought it was pretty good but a little over the top in many ways. I wish theyed show some far/long/distance camera shots too. Not everything has to be close up. And the music didnt amp the emotions of the fight or anything. But i enjoyed seeing the yellow colored sabers added to the mix

Props to Chris, he deserves his flowers and more and I hope he does do more, but the people mad about everything else in the show besides fighting needs to grow up and step away from star wars if your gonna complain about every single thing that comes out of Disney. Yes they fucked up alot but that doesn't mean any and all story (+more) they come out with is terrible or doesn't make sense. Your hate clouds your judgement and maybe you are just getting too old to enjoy it.
Idk I feel like everyone’s raving about the lightsaber combat but tbh even that I thought was just terrible. They’re too quick with their lightsabers pretending to welding them less like an Excalibur type of swords and more like what they most likely are which is plastic lightsabers. Lightsabers are supposed to be heavyish which is why I feel like the lightsaber scenes were made to look like they were in a low budget fan film.
Couldn't agree more with you Edgar Wright, or Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman, KickAss), or David Leitch (Deadpool, Bullet Train) these directors know action, world building, pacing, dialogue, and the kind of humor that fits in Star Wars, like in A New Hope. Will they do it? Hell, I'd love to see a Quentin Tarantino Star Wars movie, as a director that has made modern takes on Spaghetti Westerns and Kung Fu movies, he knows the influences that help create Star Wars, imagine what that would be like, not that Disney would ever be that brave or give over the kind of control to great directors to make great content.
I really like the Acolyte, although it is very flawed. I'd put it in a solid B/A tier in a full Star Wars tier list. It really isn't that bad. I think that Generation Tech made a bunch of really good videos on the show.
Also it's great to see someone who isn't just ''This is a piece of shit and it's the worst thing that Disney ever made (also it's woke or something)'', but someone who at least can appreciate some aspects of it, which I must say is definitely the best part of the show.
I usually think Michael Jae's takes are WAY too happy and chuffed with the slop that has come out since 2003 (some parts of Clone Wars and all of Andor and Rogue One excluded, of course), but I thought this was actually good! This show is so ass but the choreography smelled like someone who gave a damn made it, and that's because he did, Christopher Cohen! Thanks for the vid! (For the love of God be more critical in the future)
Don’t know why some are so hellbent on discrediting everything involved with this show that they can’t even give tens where tens are due. This fight provided everything that was asked of previous shows like Obi-Wan and Ahsoka. It’s fast, looks cool, with high stakes and actual consequences.
It's terrible choreography and makes no sense plot wise. The Sith had no reason to take on that many Jedi, and it was counter to his goal of staying hidden to do so. Osha joining him after watching him kill everyone just makes her decision seem much worse. The idea of setting a mystery in High Republic era was good, but kicking off the High Republic in live action with a show that seems to hate Jedi was a mean spirited choice. Not sure why Disney is so determined to kill off likable characters. But it's a depressing cycle.
I didn't hate the fight but I just think that Jecki lasted way too long against the sith, especially considering how easily he disposed of some of the fully trained Jedi. Also, fighting with 2 sabers is not that easy to pick up, yet she was immediately good enough to duel the sith the moment she got both sabers. We haven't exactly seen ALL her training, it could have involved fighting with multiple sabers but considering the fact we saw her literally saw her swinging a stick in class in the previous episode, that seems extremely unlikely. Edit: I realise that isn't really a Christopher Cowan thing, more of a writing thing. I really like his action direction, loved both the Kingman films, and loved the return to high pace fighting in the Acolyte. Wish it had been written to make more sense canon-wise.
That edit is great! Which sadly reinforces how bad the story is. The show-don't-tell conveys the story moments much better than the dialogue did. Jecki focusing of cuffing May and being disappointed she took Kalnaca's saber being conveyed with a nod that didn't break pacing. Qimir only wanting "Freedom" after Jecki dies vs spouting all his beliefs in an attempt to make him likeable by explaining away his actions Removing Osha's dialogue made Fjord's return (that now is a surprise) more hopeful that Osha's safe and he'd turn the tide. Which made Qimir much more intimidating when he just instantly killed him Then to have Osha (who didn't get to safety) to show up right when Sol is about to lose...which would be a great lead back to the story. Goddamn it, now I'm pissed again at how bad this show is. But again, nice work! edit: forgot "Fjord" is actually named Yord
the best part was the lightsaber fights, but that dosent mean they were good. Multiple times the jedi just kinda waited for their turn to fight and didnt just stab them when they were twirling (thats all of star wars tho so it dosent matter)
Watch the breakdown of this fight by Shadiversity. This fight is actually terrible. Possibly worse than terrible. It is just a bunch of fast movements to make you think it is good till you slow it down.
I think fans though need to calm down on the praise lol. It's definitely better than everything Disney did saber fight wise thus far... But it's still not good. Passable, but not good.
Sry, but Star Wars has so many fighting styles, that a slower fight like Old Ben and Vader make sense. The fight even though not bad, is confussing and way to flashy. I like when a character like vader uses a slower style, but with more power. Reys bad fighting style is also okay if Kylo would have been better. My point is that there exist fast and slow lightsaber combat and if put right could expend the story. There exist this one scene where Maul meets Kenobi after a long time and there fight is over in three strikes, but every move has meaning and you can see there history with every swing.
Go read Heir to the Empire. Shadows of the Empire or Truce at Bakura are also good starting place for Legends. Or the Jedi Apprentice series, which is Qui-Gon training Obi-wan if you like prequel era.
Is this too hard to ask? We don't give enough credit to the geniuses that make the content we adore. Yes, it's too much to ask. Masterpieces are not easy to make, apparently.
What? How can you even say that those lightsaber fights are good? And from that to say that we all agree is the thing done well in the series? You have not listened to the people who knows or cares about good choreography
The problem is that I think most people are now no longer interested in star wars anymore thanks to Acolyte, and so now while maybe the lightsaber fights get better, and the plot could get better, it won’t get to that point because Star wars won’t make enough money, and it’ll be a done franchise.
I mean when everything else is sucks this much it's no surprise the lightsaber fight is the most liked of this mess of a show. It's just sad that to impress they only have to make lightsaber fast and kill people.
Yep they are finally getting back to prequels level, although I think the prequels lightsabers looked better. The newer ones are more realistic and thus look more like glowing tubes instead of super bright laser swords
I mean...just because the lightsaber fights are the best part doesn't mean they're good. There are some good moments, but overall the fight scenes in The Acolyte weren't very good imo.
This fight is bad lmao. The characters miss all the time and swing out of measure non stop. The skill of the fighters is also completely inconsistent. Not only that they use WAY too many kicks. If you have time to kick, you have time enough to swing your sword and end it. The fight is immersion breaking AF
Do you have the same thought with the prequel fights most of those fights have pointless attacks that don't make any sense and at some points characters don't attack.
@@Automaton237 The basic difference between these fights is as follows: prequel fights usually have a few silly things sprinkled across them while this garbage show has made the entire fight into an utter joke. In the DOTF or the Mustafar fight actors try to either engage the enemy weapon or to "hit" the opponent. In this show the main bad guy literally swings like an idiot and misses by such a margin, that the Jedi would not even have to dodge sometimes. Not only that, he does not even aim at them properly. When you watch this slowed down it is an embarassement. The other problem is the fact that the skill of the combatants is 100% inconsistent. How can a f*cking padawan give this sith a run for their money when the sith just 1 vs 5ed Jedi masters... Don't get me wrong, the prequel fights have these silly bits as well and they are also worth discussing, but holy shit. This show is so much worse...

Honestly I think at this point I’m just tired of all the shows made by Disney are just completely disneyfied. SW feels like marvel and marvel feels like some random show on Disney channel. Like I’m fine with some shows being like that but I feel like the reason Andor truly took over as much as it did beyond just the writing was the themes, the setting, and the overall feel of the show. I feel like the hallway Vader scene also captures that feeling a bit by just allowing Vader to be Vader. I could go on and on but SW should feel distinct and honestly the only time it feels that way is when we get a show with the CW animation but then you can’t even enjoy it cause of other reasons. I’d like to believe these fights in acolyte are a step in the right direction but I just don’t believe they care about delivering anything good.
The fights weren’t good I’m sorry… they are clumsy. The sabers look plastic the same as Ashoka and obiwan. It’s bad and shiny I’m genuinely confused how this shit is different from Ashoka… manny is just slightly faster, the wire work is still awful and awkward.

maybe if you watched the show, you'd realise that it makes it a big plot point that the jedi at large do not find out about him
I'll definitely watch the no dialogue fight. Thanks for making it.
I personally think darth vader and luke skywalker hallway scenes were the best we've had of disney lightsaber fights. But lightsaber on lightsaber i agree
I will say while its good if you pay attention during this fight the sith has a bunch of openings that other jedi could of gone for so i wouldnt compare this to the prequel fights quality
But this was still definitely better than the other stuff Disney pumped out
you have one of the few correct opinions
It is slightly better shit like if you were a cook it No more bacteria and such
Anyone who has seen the good place probably got big Jason Mendoza vibes when sith bro started making jokes
I actually didn't recognize him, though I love The Good Place. I liked the idea of a chill Sith. To me the lightsaber fight completely undermined the character. He went from being sympathetic to just another serial killer.
Manny did a great job, just wish he'd gotten a better script to work with.
Living legend
Their woke agenda.
they just need to hire tartakovski and Cohen ,this gods of story tellers without using dialogues.
YES I ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW WHO MADE THE LAST JEDI THRONE ROOM SCENE
That wasn’t him
@@Dobbythecat123 google the word joke for me please
Well clearly not, since u didnt watch the whole video.
The same Puppets different color
Seeing Shadiversity's fight autopsies on the SW fights really sets the Acolyte's fight as "the best" only in the realm of live-action Disney SW.
Finally Somebody culture
I’m sorry but I actually liked all of mannys character dialogue I know his name just don’t know how to spell it but I liked all the lines because of mannys performance I’ve always wanted a sith who was snarky while battling trying to get under the jedis skin and seemed like they were just having fun toying with them but knew when to step it up when he fought a formidable opponent like sol
He sounds like an Edgelord weeaboo
If you pause theres parts where Jekki can kill him when he's distracted by Sol they cut to them in different places
It’s incredibly sad and disappointing nobody else can see what’s completely obvious so many people think this shit is good

Cant wait for him to show back up on Corridor Crew and break down the fights
I know we focus a lot on lightsaber fights in particular, but everything else from all disney related Star Wars content has been awful too
.
Yup. Except for TFA, TLJ, The Mandalorian, Kenobi (kind of), and most of Ahsoka. Oh, and The Clone Wars and Rebels. And Rogue One.
@@Shadowkey392 seasons one and two of mando, yes. Season 3 I wasn’t a big fan of. Good on you for leaving book out of that list

The clone wars existed before Disney but sure lol. Also everything you named is subpar so…???
Man, if this is the best lightsaber fight in all of Disney Star Wars, then i'm honestly baffled by how low the bar is
Yeah i thought it was pretty good but a little over the top in many ways. I wish theyed show some far/long/distance camera shots too. Not everything has to be close up. And the music didnt amp the emotions of the fight or anything. But i enjoyed seeing the yellow colored sabers added to the mix
The fact that you can praise the acolyte on something shows how much of a casual Star Wars fan you are
@@DarkLord10387 he didnt praise it at all really. Can you read? Or do you just play starwars lego all day and night? Cringe fans like you think you know a lot about star wars cuz you sit around gaining weight watching a show 10 times per episode... get a life

Mmmm, it's not without it's faults unfortunately. There are plenty of failed hits, missed marks and swipes at nothing. It looks flashy on screen though and the speed is great.
yup
Theres plenty of that in the OT and the PT too. Youre just complaining to complain.
@@jzriw Yeah right. That tired old reply. I haven't seen that before. lol. @@benmiles00your background doesnt change that there are choreography and execution mistakes in the PT and OT. I dont know why youre so pissy about this. Its not that deep.
@@jzriw Right, so even though I am qualified to talk about it, you still dismiss it. Yeah, good on yah fkwit. 🤣🤣🤣
"Pussy about it?" Is that some sort of Zedder speak? It seems like the sort of overreaction I would expect from a Gen-Zed. Especially given my comment had nothing "pussy" related to do with it.
It is rare to find any fight choreography that doesn't have a few mistakes or missed marks but that's where multiple takes and a decent editor comes in to fix those mistakes. But sure, even then some things make it to the final cut. Those are not apparent in the throne room scene though. There are multiple f*ck ups and it looks like the editor left it to his pet budgie to fix it in post. To be expected for that clown Ruin Johnson obviously. Give me an example of the perfectly choreographed fight scene and I'll call BS. It takes weeks or months to get the marks and timings just right. Go try it yourself and see how difficult it is. These guys needed a sh1tload more practise or time.
4:11 I haven’t watched the show but my brother showed me a photo of “the guy from squid games in the acolyte” and I’m like guessing he got sick of won and went to credits
Qimer and Sol were the best part of the show in my opinion beside the lightsaber fights.
What a childish argument and childish commenters.
If the fights are the best part I don’t know how you can enjoy the rest
I usually think Michael Jae's takes are WAY too happy and chuffed with the slop that has come out since 2003 (some parts of Clone Wars and all of Andor and Rogue One excluded, of course), but I thought this was actually good! This show is so ass but the choreography smelled like someone who gave a damn made it, and that's because he did, Christopher Cohen! Thanks for the vid! (For the love of God be more critical in the future)
Also, I thought Fallout was a 5/10 at BEST...
So… are you going to talk about the ST5 trailer or…?
Yao is that Jason Mendoza
Giving tens where tens are due I’ve never heard something so stupid this barely deserves a one
TH-cam said the same about filoni
its better than other disney lightsaber fights sure, however, thats not exactly saying much
That’s like comparing a cockroach and a dung beetle
They both suck shit
can we just talk about how 0:29 the percentage goes up to 101%?
Funny rounding from youtube
Well I still think that the emperor’s arrest is one of the best duals in all of stars wars
That edit is great!
Which sadly reinforces how bad the story is.
The show-don't-tell conveys the story moments much better than the dialogue did.
Jecki focusing of cuffing May and being disappointed she took Kalnaca's saber being conveyed with a nod that didn't break pacing.
Qimir only wanting "Freedom" after Jecki dies vs spouting all his beliefs in an attempt to make him likeable by explaining away his actions
Removing Osha's dialogue made Fjord's return (that now is a surprise) more hopeful that Osha's safe and he'd turn the tide.
Which made Qimir much more intimidating when he just instantly killed him
Then to have Osha (who didn't get to safety) to show up right when Sol is about to lose...which would be a great lead back to the story.
That is not all of Star Wars
Watch the breakdown of this fight by Shadiversity. This fight is actually terrible. Possibly worse than terrible. It is just a bunch of fast movements to make you think it is good till you slow it down.
You don’t even have to slow it down full speed it’s still shit
It’s clear as day their playing a turn based adventure game instead of fighting with swords
I think fans though need to calm down on the praise lol. It's definitely better than everything Disney did saber fight wise thus far... But it's still not good. Passable, but not good.
This shit is not passable
Sry, but Star Wars has so many fighting styles, that a slower fight like Old Ben and Vader make sense. The fight even though not bad, is confussing and way to flashy. I like when a character like vader uses a slower style, but with more power. Reys bad fighting style is also okay if Kylo would have been better. My point is that there exist fast and slow lightsaber combat and if put right could expend the story. There exist this one scene where Maul meets Kenobi after a long time and there fight is over in three strikes, but every move has meaning and you can see there history with every swing.
How did you have 101%?
Wait, a Star Wars fan did the choreography??? Meaning caring about the franchise allows you to make it look good? Who would’ve guessed.
Wait he cared about the franchise
I’m 14 this is my Star Wars and it’s flopping
Eh, you should look into star wars legends, it's way better
Go read Heir to the Empire. Shadows of the Empire or Truce at Bakura are also good starting place for Legends.
Or the Jedi Apprentice series, which is Qui-Gon training Obi-wan if you like prequel era.
Have you watched Andor? You should watch Andor.
This is satire, right?
It's obviously not I don't see what's wrong with the video a lot of people agreed that the lightsaber fights are the best thing about the show.
No
@Autom
And a lot of people are also below average intelligence
I truly wish this was satire the fight’s the show it’s all just so ass
Is this too hard to ask? We don't give enough credit to the geniuses that make the content we adore. Yes, it's too much to ask. Masterpieces are not easy to make, apparently.
What? How can you even say that those lightsaber fights are good?
And from that to say that we all agree is the thing done well in the series?
You have not listened to the people who knows or cares about good choreography
He doesn’t know anything about choreography so he thinks anything fast is good
They better hire him for upcoming projects
It looks like they tried to hide all the other bad parts of the show with some well made fight scenes.
honestly i did find the bad guy good in this serie
The problem is that I think most people are now no longer interested in star wars anymore thanks to Acolyte, and so now while maybe the lightsaber fights get better, and the plot could get better, it won’t get to that point because Star wars won’t make enough money, and it’ll be a done franchise.
The fights aren’t even good and don’t get started about the plot
How do this stats work💀
92% fights. 9% other?🤨
Rounding. Bro thinks hes so smart
They were very shit IMO
@@acrippledlittlerata9491 Yeah, that's less polite way of putting it. :D
Even if the fights were good, the lightsaber effects themselves were lacking
There are still a lot of problems with the fight scene, watch a breakdown. Other than that, it still is the best Disney fight scene..
Please make a video of you breaking down the Stranger Things season 5 behind the scenes teaser! 🙏🙏🙏
To be fair, NOTHING rivals the Obi Wan vs Anakin fight imo
Well, at least smth positive came out from this shitshow.
Honestly the only part of the series which got me on the edge of my seat. I mean the brutality and choreography was absolutely insane and I was impressed to say the least! 🔊🔥
Finally someone that thinks the same as me. I love the brutality, but I hate that Jekki and Yord died. I was hoping they were gonna have massive roles
They’re all gonna walk it off because it’s Disney
And also the fights are shit
These lightsaber duels are better, but I still don't like them. The reason for that is the lightsabers still don't blur/smear like the prequels. Not sure if its the props or the editing, but Prequel way had lightsaber leave a blur/smear of light when they were swung. Disney doesn't do that so they still look wrong to me.
This is actually the worst star wars show disney is just ruining the franchise with long-term fans 😢
They may had a good fight scene, but they will never make a good story until Kennedy and her circle of trust is fired
They will never make a good fight scene period
Actually I only like the acolytes saber fights cuz of how generally entertaining they were. But from a realistic and combative swordsmanship perspective these fights SUCKED!!!!
Star Wars aside from the original trilogy always had that issue.
Bro has no idea what he is talking about. This video is 99% yappin. It so obvious he has never used a sword in his life.
Love you man. Also I got first comment :D
Even tho acolyte is completly useless i do kinda like the light saber
The fights weren’t good I’m sorry… they are clumsy.
The sabers look plastic the same as Ashoka and obiwan.
It’s bad and shiny I’m genuinely confused how this shit is different from Ashoka… manny is just slightly faster, the wire work is still awful and awkward.
This is not quite to Ashoka vs Vader, or even Ashoka vs Maul. Hate me all you want.
Combats ready sabers are pretty good but for some stupid reason they use prop sabers :/
Its still the biggest joke disney released.
You should make a vid about newest stranger things trailer it has A LOT of
So when are you going to talk about stranger things 5
Hot take but I enjoyed the show. Still there are a lot of stuff that I didn't like about it
This is the best lightsaber duel in live action Disney. Rebels and Season 7 clone wars were better
Bro talks about the lightsaber fights, instead of how the show is so bad or just the show in general. Also the fights are not the best at all, best of Disney but not of all Star Wars.

Not better than The Clone Wars, Palpatine vs Brothers or Ashoka vs Maul
For me the fights are awesome but that alone can’t save the show too many recons and lore breaking scenes just ruin it for me
