I just finished this mod for a friend and I discovered a really useful shortcut. Instead of trying to use tweezers to remove the black plastic plug (@ 6:18) (which I found impossible) I simply pulled out the plastic barrel that has the large spring around it that inserts into the other side of the part that has the plastic plug in it and pushed the plug out. Fast and easy.
Just completed the mod. Super easy but pay attention to everything, take pics as you dissemble for reference. Have a small magnet tray for the screws. You are right about the spice! Love it. Thanks

Got the gun before knowing about joules. Actually got another gun that is also 7.5 but had it customized to 30, HDR68. So I went online to see if this HDS could be modify and here I am. And boy is it a lot easier to mod then the HDR68. Thank you kind sir. Also to anyone reading this always check to see if there are more powerful versions of the gun you are thinking of buying and if it can be modified. Also if you are looking at test on youtube make sure they are testing the one you have or want. Many test are done with upgraded guns that will be useless to you if you plan on using the standard gun.

I've got mine for home defense so that plug is gone. Glad to see someone has said a better way to remove the plug. My plug was out and I looked and thought, Humm I could have did that???? One of the best air guns I have.
So I put the part of the assembly I needed to unscrew under some hot water, put it in a vise and used 2 single-pronged spikes and was able to turn them to get it off - whew!
Just got my hds 68 today at big 5 if anyone is looking. They have the pistols and paintball as well as rubber ball ammo in .50 and .68 caliber. There's a 20% off coupon you can easily find online. I got the gun and 100 rds of rubber balls for like $174 out the door! Sick so far can't wait to try out the mod. Hope it doesn't overpressurize and mess it up.
Update: Took the regulator out and reassembled the gun just as described. HOLY #@*!%! This thing is beyond gnarly now! It could blow the balls off a water buffalo. Definitely don't want to be on the business end of this unnecicarily powerful boomstick.

A better way to get that plug out is take off the spring slide off the plastic tube. Use a small screw driver. Stick in the tube and just tap gently that plug pops put...
I do plan on doing the mod, I no longer can run the paint ball fields and I believe under 300# is max there. So removal is the plan. One thing.... if you use a small Phillips screwdriver and push it out from the other end you use fewer 4 letter words in doing the mod. Just got mine so will do it soon. Thx
I just bought this Umarex Shotgun T4E HDS online and it came by FedEx today! I have not shot it yet because still waiting for my ammo which arrives in two days. Yeah I know that sucks but what can you do. I will use the shotgun as-is for a while then I will try your mod which seems a bit tedious but like you said take your time and its worth it at the end so I will let you know the result! First time shooting this marker was amazing. Then I swapped to both barrels, and was completely let down.. I wasn't even that let down when I found out santa was a lie. My original thought was "use .22cal paintballs made into buckshots" looks like I can now revisit that experiment. Thanks, my man!
Ryan Chevrier I just completed the mod to remove the reducer and its like night and day better twice the power. After this social distancing thing is over I’ll take it to the range and verify the FPS states for this marker.
unless youre living in the UK(which if you are i feel bad) just buy a gun, its gonna be a lot more effective than this and if you depend your life on it dont use it.
The metal subframe is pretty gnarly too. Lots of flashing on the sides that isn't cleaned up at the factory. Also the metal barrel release button on my first HDS68 was totally warped from the factory.
I’m just waiting to carry out the same, the lack of “detailed” instructions makes me wonder as well as the fact it mentions removing the “glued” part? Please keep me updated with how you get on?
@@Dugiesrevenge the maker of the 20+j valve said if you havent already, remove the limiter which is the black piece inside the chamber that you unscrew with the two little holes in it, remove the gold screw(tiny gold valve that fell out with me anyhow because i didnt see it til i was done), and use heat to weaken the glue holding the old valve pin threads tight, replace with the new one, and you should be golden. No I don't know how much the results differ between the 16j version in the 7j version, but they shouldn't because the only difference with the 16j over the 7j is the valve is already been upgraded and usually the air flow restrictor in the chamber has already been removed for you but that could have been just in my case, when you have the 16j version to begin with (and i do). But it's a noticeable amount more powerful so I can't be getting the same statistics as I started with considering the guy whose Channel we are commenting on ended up with that much power and that's how much I started with. And I said I don't have a chronograph or whatever they're using to measure speed and velocity but, the difference is very noticeable! I just shot a glass marble through a heavy plastic garbage can and left a rather sizable hole, and the marble size made so it vs chamber wasn't airtight or even close to it.
I would mess everything up, and the gun would be worthless. I’m not handy with a screwdriver. This store I go to, the owners sells them already modified for you. Pay a little more, but like I said, I would mess it up if I tried to do it on my own. Great vid
How many Joules did it have before (should be written in the manual) the mod? How many did it have after the mod? In which country did you buy it? What's the allowed max Joules for such guns in your country?
i live in germany and here this gun is restricted to 7.5 joule but in it´s neighbor austria the same gun comes with 16 joule so i´d say (but i´m in no way a gun expert) you get even more than that because in this video he kinda doesn´t recommend shooting "full power" through only one barrel. and of course by modifying it one would be breaking german law
The final step was more difficult then said in the video. It bent my tweezers and I chipped the hell out of the little piece of plastic and the aluminum threads for the cap and it won’t go back on flush. But, found an easier way in the process. So, I now know what to do with the replacement gun, that I now have to buy.

One thing that was not mentioned in the video. When doing the reassembly, I had to compress the upper part of the valve cover back onto the lower assembly using channel lock pliers. In the video, it looks like it lies down in place with no effort.
yes make sure anyone who performs this modification pay close attention to detail. take photos if necessary to make sure you put it back together correctly.
I knoe that there is because the Umarex t4e hds 50 their paintball pistol has a similar power mod like this that ive watched done so if both of those do then obviously the PPQ will also. I
How on earth does this not void the warranty??? Could you do a vid with this mod but shoot polymer shot instead of paintballs? My property keeps getting broken into and I would like to "send a message" next time!

I'm already working on some for the revolver, heck I might even sell them on ebay, some made out of metal and some made out of hard plastic. I did everything according to the video. Gun only fire's 1 time. leaves CO2 half full. have to put a new CO2, before it will fire again. Anyone experiance this?
It uses a lot more, because it's allowing more CO2 in. Cuts your amount of shots at least in half if not more. So if you were gett 40 shots say, out of 12 gram CO2 (like on my Umarex TR50 at 7.5 joules revolver by Umarex), you would get 10-20 shots with a modded one that puts it up over 11-16 joules like this. A old Norweigan TH-camr modded his pistol like mine, to shoot over 11 joules (it's 11 joules stock in Europe) and he only gets about 8-10 shots now at the higher velocity. Thing shoots like close to 600 feet per second and is a beast now from 300fps and dumps a lot more CO2 into the chamber, absolutely, so you will go through more 12 gram CO2 bottles.

Drill a bigger hole in the black thing from the top and one on the side of it, than put it back in with the 🕳 on the side pointig down, if you want to make it right for single and double fire with better power but not on Overkill mode 🤘🏻😎❤️&✌🏻
I just received mine from Ansgear. They modify it to 16 joules. Mine is junk right out of the box. After activating the C02 capsule, all of the air immediately discharges. It seems to leak out of every little seam in the gun. And it discharges so fast you can’t get one shot off. Any ideas?
I just got one of these for xmas. This is an interesting mod, but probably not encouraged for field play. I'm not likely to use the mod for that reason.
If you want usable ~280fps Velocity from single barrel shots, the thing to do is not to remove the flow restrictor altogether, but to pull it out and drill two 3/16" ports into it- one at the back of the restrictor and one near the top. I'll make a video once I've done some more testing.
The better solution is to drill two 3/16" holes- one in the back of the flow restrictor and one into the top of the restrictor angled about 30 from the vertical. This should yield about 280fps. I'm going to see if I can replicate my results and then make a video.
I just picked up the T4E .50. Is there a way to increase velocity for that model? Is not, can you post one? Mine looks like it can increase in round capacity by one round as well if you take out a plug in it.
I did the mod and it worked for about 5 shots after that it just released all the co2 out the front barrel's. Not sure what happened. I ended up putting that little black restricter back on and it still dumps the co2. Please help

After doing this myself I found it’s easier to remove the spring and black tube and put a screw driver in to push out the reducer instead of using pliers or tweezers

Works really well but actually easier to push out the restrictor from the bottom with a flat screwdriver than using tweezers!!

Don’t forget to mention this only works if you purchased the the version that’s slower. I just purchased the faster version and it not necessary.

Aha so this is how to change the 7,5 j to a 16 j! In Sweden you can't buy the 16 j.
after Tuning valve kit you got over 20 J.

I did everything according to the video. Gun only fire's 1 time. leaves CO2 half full. have to put a new CO2, before it will fire again. Anyone experiance this?

How much more air does it use? And your not going to show us how much better it is now that you have done this?
It uses a lot more, because it's allowing more CO2 in. Cuts your amount of shots at least in half if not more. So if you were gett 40 shots say, out of 12 gram CO2 (like on my Umarex TR50 at 7.5 joules revolver by Umarex), you would get 10-20 shots with a modded one that puts it up over 11-16 joules like this. A old Norweigan TH-camr modded his pistol like mine, to shoot over 11 joules (it's 11 joules stock in Europe) and he only gets about 8-10 shots now at the higher velocity. Thing shoots like close to 600 feet per second and is a beast now from 300fps and dumps a lot more CO2 into the chamber, absolutely, so you will go through more 12 gram CO2 bottles.

Drill a bigger hole in the black thing from the top and one on the side of it, than put it back in with the 🕳 on the side pointig down, if you want to make it right for single and double fire with better power but not on Overkill mode 🤘🏻😎❤️&✌🏻

I just received mine from Ansgear. They modify it to 16 joules. Mine is junk right out of the box. After activating the C02 capsule, all of the air immediately discharges. It seems to leak out of every little seam in the gun. And it discharges so fast you can’t get one shot off. Any ideas?
could this be converted to use like a HPA tank or be able to put a fitting for a bike pump and eliminate the need for C02 entirely?

I just got one of these for xmas. This is an interesting mod, but probably not encouraged for field play. I'm not likely to use the mod for that reason.
If you want usable ~280fps Velocity from single barrel shots, the thing to do is not to remove the flow restrictor altogether, but to pull it out and drill two 3/16" ports into it- one at the back of the restrictor and one near the top. I'll make a video once I've done some more testing.

Unless you can lock the barrel switch in the "both barrels" position I don't see this being allowed at most fields
The better solution is to drill two 3/16" holes- one in the back of the flow restrictor and one into the top of the restrictor angled about 30 from the vertical. This should yield about 280fps. I'm going to see if I can replicate my results and then make a video.

I just picked up the T4E .50. Is there a way to increase velocity for that model? Is not, can you post one? Mine looks like it can increase in round capacity by one round as well if you take out a plug in it.

I did the mod and it worked for about 5 shots after that it just released all the co2 out the front barrel's. Not sure what happened. I ended up putting that little black restricter back on and it still dumps the co2. Please help

Can you tell me what size pliers were used to remove reducer?
After doing this myself I found it’s easier to remove the spring and black tube and put a screw driver in to push out the reducer instead of using pliers or tweezers
I ended up using tweezers to remove the part no special tools.
