RIH Garry ‘Diaperman’ Shider. He autographed my ‘Clones of Dr. Funkenstein’ when performing at Stubbs in Austin many years ago. Proudly displayed to this day! Other than being the musical director and lead vocalist on almost all of Parliament hits, he was the funky heart & soul of P-Funk!
I don't know about y'all. But the SSJ version of "Hit It and Quit It/Give Up the Funk" always gives me life. Sure, its obvious that George and crew weren't necessarily at their best musically speaking. But nobody can do P-Funk better than P-Funk, even on a bad night. I just feel this track in my groove spirit...
I remember some folks complaining because George did a lot of Funkadelic stuff in this show. The hardcore maggots love the rock stuff, but some of the funkateers ain't really feeling Funkadelic. It's mainly Parliament, plus One Nation, and Knee Deep for them. They might tolerate Cosmic Slop, but George has them playing Hit It And Quit It, and Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow here, and you got to really be into the early stuff to appreciate those jams.
I love George Clinton, but I'm gonna keep it real ...THAT was HORRIBLE!!! You gotta do more for your fans than just GET HIGH and rely on GIMMICKS. You have to deliver a SKILLFUL PERFORMANCE. And you were sorely lacking, to say the least. Leave the drugs for AFTER the show. He should've given the fans their money back. I still respect GC for all the great material he's produced throughout the years. But if he doesn't take his craft seriously anymore, he should stay off the stage. Best wishes to him and his crew
enlightened child You must be on something bad. That was probably the best live performance the group has ever done and I've seen plenty. Don't diss and stop hating!
I'm not "hating," as you say! I love most of Parliament and George Clinton's songs. I've been playing music sense I was in elementary school. I'm a big fan of theirs. I'm just saying, based on what I heard in THIS VIDEO, the MUSIC sounded HORRIBLE. I don't know if they just had a bad night or what. It just didn't sound good.
enlightened child Didn't mean to offend. The P effects each of us differently so you got your right to see that performance the way you want to. I've seen probably more of their live performances than most and I thought this one was the bomb. That's all I'm saying friend. Live long and prosper!
I wish I was there. I enjoyed this. Thanx for upload. 🤗🤗
We talk about the legends that we've lost: James Brown, Prince, Michael Jackson!! But, we've still got George Clinton!!!

Too me it sounds like the sound engineering is or equipment the issue here...not the musicians.
Kary Dickens
Sub par technology and equipment by our today's standard. That show was a hole lot of years ago.
