The first time I saw the landing of the mothership I was thoroughly “medicated” and that sucker looked like something from sci fi outer space! Loved it!!!!!!!!! Been a funkateer since forever and ain’t never gonna stop
I watched the Mothership land in Madison Square Garden. One of them flew in over the audience with a guitar wearing a diaper Lolol. But when they hit Flashlight, hundreds of flashlights lit up in the audience! Everybody had some sort of flashlight! Those were the days💖. I tried to make every concert I could get to. A true Funkateer🚀
I was front row when it made a return trip to DFW in '78 - my first concert. The dude to my right had a Space1999 toy gun high as a kite. Two seats to my left was a 9 yr. old boy who at one point George brought him on stage to sing (I think) Get Off Your Ass And Jam... I was so jealous. Thanks, sis!
Glen was a bad man. Still waiting on the mothership I wanna ride Dec 2024. When they came to Houston I was 18 years old. Age now 67. Let’s get on board y’all
The funk energy was definitely in the house that night. Glen Goines was the soul of Parliament/ Funkadelic's! His voice was a mixture of funk and spiritual which created that funky style! RIP Glen!!
I was at this concert, I will never forget it, wish they had the rest of the entrance where Dr. funkenstein walked down the stairs of the mothership, that was something to behold.
The concert was wild! We went crazy when the mothership came from nowhere and landed. The band had more smoke in the air than the early Snoop Dog concerts.

I was too young for the first generation Mothership, but their 95/96 Mothership ReConnection Tour was nearly as epic. That is the Smithsonian Mothership.

I have experienced the "P" 10 times. Seeing George August 18th 2023. "Funk or Walk" I did not come here to go slow, I only came to dance the dance to take me home.
@@dee1380 No. They're DEFINITELY not ready! I'm Darryl Dixon. I took Maceo's place on sax when he and Fred Wesley went with Bootsy. Glenn and I left P-Funk at the same time, so I was on stage every night of the Earth Tour. I also feel sorry for the people in the audience of the Parliament-Funkadelic concerts now. You haven't seen INCREDIBLE until you've seen the Mothership land.I was 16 at the Old Felt forum in NYC.
I love the fact that you can tell Prince got a lot of his inspiration for tha funk from these guys.
I'm embarrassed to say this is the first I have heard these guys live. Every musician is spot on. This is the ultimate live show!
Impressive isn't it? Just like Zappa the outrageous stuff gets talked about the most.....but the musicianship is top shelf.
My friend, even past their heyday, in their "revival era" of the 90s, their shows were absolutely epic.
I was 18 years old when I got to listen to music. ❤😂
Glenn sang that Mothership in ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾💯
