And this, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the reasons why we could not have the Simpsons arcade game on the 16 bit consoles. Because Acclaim owned the rights to The Simpsons on consoles, Konami could not release a port on the SNES or Genesis. One can only imagine we could have gotten a pretty decent port of the game to the SNES, similar to Turtles in Time, if Acclaim did not have the home video game license.
Eep386 Acclaim wasn't half bad imo. They made pretty good ports, like this game and Mortal Kombat as well as other decent licensed games. I wish we could've gotten an arcade port though.
Acclaim, like LJN (whom were part of Acclaim), never made a game at all. They'd license games from small developers and release them under their own label. To me, when Acclaim went belly up, was a good day.
Me too. It was the most chill, funniest and most satisfying of the mini games. It could as well have been a single game and I'd buy it. I used to restart the game repeatedly until I got that level.
I remember renting this game a couple of times back in the day, this game was insanely hard. I would consider myself to be a pretty good gamer back then but could never beat all of the levels on this one. Thanks for the video!
Underrated game. It's another one of those cheap licensed games though, which normally features great gameplay, nice graphics, and unique concepts, but also has pretty brutal and sometimes unfair difficulty. I have an affection for those type of games, nonetheless.

Based on a true story: Me at the Bowling alley in the 90s: "Dad, can I play The Simpsons arcade game?" My Dad: "We have a Simpsons game at home." Simpsons game at home:
Acclaim is pretty good at programming and porting games. Game design is left to be desired, but they're decently good at making low-budget licensed games.
This brings back memories of renting Simpsons games on the Nes, and Snes. Definitely some of the hardest games, but also some of the funnest to play in what was truly a bygone era of gaming. Thanks for the game play dude.
It's funny because the first Simpsons game they released on the Snes/Genesis was Bart's Nightmare and the reason it sold really well was simply because the Simpsons were massive at that point and everyone wanted to own a Simpsons video game. So based off those really good sales, Acclaim naturally assumed that another Simpsons game would be marketable - they didn't realize that nobody really enjoyed Bart's Nightmare so they definitely weren't going to invest any money in Virtual Bart. lol
In the tomato class picture scene, you can go right or left in your aim with tomatoes too... and if skinner wiggles his butt you can hit him and not get in trouble if i remember correctly.... I remember renting this game and was so blown away by the graphics in the motorcycle level. It felt like an actual 3D world where you can travel long distance.
man I just remember how frigging HARD this game was.I remember failing the mad max game resulted you getting your arms yanked/stretched by being tied to two of the opposing road buggies. I also know that Dino Bart ended with a paleontologist finding your bones, and the water slide ending with bart zipping out and hitting a brick wall. I don't think i successfully beat any of them. Especially not dino bart since I couldn't tell how to beat Mr. Smithers and Mr. Burns.
This game had some really dark deaths in it! The pig death is probably the most dreadful to me, cause when you fail, your processed into a corndog, get shipped in a box with other corndogs, Homer gets the box, eats the dogs till he eventually finds you, stares at you, then....eats you and continue eating the rest of the dogs(as if you don't matter)! Deaths in games were so brutal back then(and most of them didn't involve blood either), guess that's what made them memorable, though!
Gxyz222 True true. I remember the jurassic park game on genesis (not the rampage edition) had plenty of grisly ways to die and had a spooky as heck game over tune.
***** Man, just about all them Sega Genesis games were scary as crap! That's a great suggestion, too, I gotta go back to playing Jurassic Park, those were the times!
Gxyz222 I still remember beating the game as Grant (hard as balls) but needing my father to call the hotline to get info on how to beat the final area as the raptor since you couldn't actually fight grant.
Don't forget that goddamn life bar. As you can see, as Bart takes damage, his face get progressively sicker and damaged until he's completely skeletonized, all with a look of horrified pain on his face. Yeah, that's a really nice thing to show your audience game! It's not enough that you're an damn near unplayable mess as it is, then you have to go and scar them for life with shit like this!
Nice play-through.I'm not sure if you are aware, but during the tomato/egg throwing levels you can hold left and right, and throw them at an angle. It is risky, but possible. Also you CAN hit skinner, but only when he is bent over.
The first time I saw the images behind the cartridge box,I tought that the game was in 3D and you have the possibility to explore Springfield in 3D.I was completely wrong XD
Truthfully, this wasn't a great game - but I'll always remember it for the soundtrack. Really memorable tunes that did a good job of making each level feel individualistic.

It’s a reference to the episode “Krusty Gets Busted” (season 1), where he is shown promoting his line of pork products right before suffering a massive heart attack.
A time when Bart was the star of the show back then, anyways the ending was kind of interesting in that Homer was using the VR machine at the end, probably would probably be better. Then again Homer wasn't a yet until somewhere in late 90's or early 2000.
+hanchiman The main charecter of the show was always supposed to be Homer, just popularity wise bart stole the show in the early 90s. I thought reason why Homer got more attention or at least we noticed about Homer antics was because the audience "grew up". In the early 90's we notice more about Bart shenanigans and his then "90's coolness", however by the time we are in early 2000, most of us "kids" are growing up and face reality and become aware of dead-end jobs with mean cruel boss, tax, idiots and social commentary. I mean I was watching those really old episode, and nowadays I notice alot of innuendo jokes in there that I didn't notice back then. Like Bart mentioning that there is a "Chewing gum machine" in their washroom when Moe had to move his Moe Tavern in the Simpson resident. XD
I played only nes at the time. I think it was 25 years ago. Never had money for snes. I saw this game in the game shop when some kid tried it in the shop. I thought this game was so advanced. im pretty sure that music from the dinosaur level really freaked me out! ..and i woould just play that first level over and over again, throwing tomatoes haha
You know on the tomato level, you can throw on an angle, you don't have to only throw straight. Also, you can pick upThe clocks give you more time, you can shoot the balls to remove one obstacle in your path, and the body board gives you a big speed boost and temporary invulnerability.

this is literally the first video game I played when I was like 2 and a half, maybe 3 years old. I never got very far on any level. it was my uncle’s sega, but watching this video is like being in a time machine. this game is *literally* why I game - thoroughly enjoyed watching your playthrough.
I always found this game hard lol because I could never beat it. It was my brother that made it to the second stage in tomato toss and made it to the seal part in baby Bart.
Well I have to say, this version is more playable then the snes. Sound wise no snes wins on that but playable? Yes seem like some of the mini games on here are slower then the snes. The baby mini is for one is much slower letting you think on the clothes line. While the snes it auto scroll on ya. And the death race part there wasn't a single one hit death right there. And the dino mini game it's much more forgiven with corn dogs and slower enemies. So this version wins.
This game played better on the Genesis than it did on the SNES, sounded better too. I think it was easier as well as the SNES version had a different apocalypse level where Jimbo and Kerny attacked you constantly. At this in the Genesis version you got a breather in between their attacks. The Genesis version was superior in many ways.
NES has 3 Simpsons titles, and I believe Krusty's Super Funhouse, Genesis has Bart Vs the Space Mutants (yes a port of the NES game), the Krusty game, SNES has 2 Simpson's games, the Krusty game, and an Itchy and Scratchy game. There's also 2 Simpson's Gameboy games.
The Jetson's game for NES is expensive for the sake of being expensive. People like to throw the word rare around, uncommon is more fitting for a game like that. Greedy people have hit the collecting market, and they are looking to score big bucks.
I played this game in 1997... it took me 22 years for my brain to say now "Hey remember how you couldnt beat that dinosaur level... go back and see... Thanks Brain!
Yeesh that music. I'd be lying if I didn't admit I have fond memories of the SNES version though. Never mind that half the worlds are damn near impossible.
I like this game and Bart's Nightmare. They're probably on the better side of "The Simpsons" games from the older consoles... But the controls still feel very stiff, making it a lot less enjoyable =S ... Also, that glitchiness on baby Bart's minigame... "Sega does what Nintedon't" indeed XD
wasn't this game only released in the UK? I lived in America and the only version I could find and only rented the SNES version of this game before but I never seen or even know a Sega Genesis version actually existed outside the states?
Fun fact: this game was gonna be on the virtual boy. But due to the failure it was cancelled. (I'm talking about the failure of the virtual boy not virtual bart)
I finally found it, I really thought this game was just a dream I had when I was a kid

The Jetson's game for NES is expensive for the sake of being expensive. People like to throw the word rare around, uncommon is more fitting for a game like that. Greedy people have hit the collecting market, and they are looking to score big bucks.
Hard game, never saw the final, u rock man
The guy that said "Virtual Bart" is Dan Castalanetta, because he sounded like Homer and he voiced Homer.
No shit sherlock
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Bart would NEVER throw stuff that ruins picture day at his best friend Milhouse!
This version is definitely better than the SNES version cause it is easier than that version
I played this game in 1997... it took me 22 years for my brain to say now "Hey remember how you couldnt beat that dinosaur level... go back and see... Thanks Brain!
I have Virtually had no chance to play games lately will have to give this one a shot.
The way Bart says "Woah Mama" in the tomato throwing level is weird.
I borrowed this game for a week from a friend when I was 4 or 5. Man it was hard.
Damn took me back to my childhood
This was the hardest game series ever
the tomato throwing game, and the Bike riding game, are the only ones I enjoyed. The Dino Bart and the baby bart game, pissed me off to no end...
When I was 5 I thought this game was amazing especially the water slide game.
That Baby Bart level has some of the most ridiculous platforming hell I’ve ever seen.
Corndogs? Guess Butterfinger didn't feel like sponsoring these games.
Seems like they dumbed down the egg throwing level? The SNES version you could throw side ways, not just straight ahead?
Virtual Bart for Occulus Rift would be amaziiiing ;)
Yeesh that music.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit I have fond memories of the SNES version though. Never mind that half the worlds are damn near impossible.
Very Crazy!
I never has saw this game before!
I remember playing this game like it was yesterday.
Nostalgia :')
The waterslide level is the worst! But other than that, I like playing this little jewel of a challenge!
I like this game and Bart's Nightmare. They're probably on the better side of "The Simpsons" games from the older consoles... But the controls still feel very stiff, making it a lot less enjoyable =S
... Also, that glitchiness on baby Bart's minigame... "Sega does what Nintedon't" indeed XD
Thank you for this video✨
awesome game, love the graphics and colors
wasn't this game only released in the UK? I lived in America and the only version I could find and only rented the SNES version of this game before but I never seen or even know a Sega Genesis version actually existed outside the states?
This game had a frustrating degree of difficulty
His first laugh in the Class Photo level 😂
I can't believe I found this fun.
I really hate the aquapark level.
This def the best Simpsons game on the 16 Bit consoles besides Krusty Fun House
Loved this game as a kid, it was fuckig bizarre and hard.
My favorite sega game as a kid!
Fun fact: this game was gonna be on the virtual boy. But due to the failure it was cancelled. (I'm talking about the failure of the virtual boy not virtual bart)
6:53 omg i'm dead.. 😂😂
