Another quality video! A lot to take away from this one! My issue is with hip mobility, so my backswing (according to my coach) is fine, I just don’t rotate well, so end up scooping the ball; irons down to wedges!
Would love it if you could get an LPGA player (90-95swing speed) in to hit most of their clubs and see what their delivered loft is compared to the clubs actual loft
This is really good stuff! Enjoyed it very much. Thanks Ian. A few thoughts though; - Trackman PGA averages puts smash factor at 1.34 and you're doing 1.4. Why is there such a difference? I can't imagine it is because the guys on the PGA tour mishits their 7 irons that much.. - I've practiced with a trackman this winter and can't really grasp the vertical strike data in relation to the actual sweet spot. Seeing the classic picture of Tigers 8 iron it would appear that the sweet spot is much lower than what trackman says is 0. In addition my own testing with impact spray it seems like trackman moves the sweet spot up a groove or two with a 4 iron compared to a 7/8 iron. It would be great if you could deep dive into this quite niche subject :D
My Liege, Great content! Please do a follow up on what you saw with Rory McIlroy’s swing changes and how he navigated Pebble Beach. Thank you for this video. Huge help and I can’t wait for the next one!! Great work!!
Ok guys. Here's what you do. Set up with a good amount of shaft lean at impact. Look up references, because it might look like to much to you but you may not have enough. The biggest thing though is to swing through the ball with more chest as in, when you go back to top of back swing feel like your hands stay infront of your chest all the way down and through the ball at impact. Feel like.from the tip of the back swing there's a board sticking out of your chest amd you have to swing that board sticking out of your chest down and hit.the ball with it. That's the best way I can explain it. Start with like 1/2 shots. You've got.to rotat with your body don't swing at the ball with your arms or even lower your arms use your body and torso to swing down. If you swing with your arms and hands you'll never get shaft lean.
I like the idea of a trigger and loading the right side to start the backswing but my biggest issue with poor ball striking is a sway and this feels dangerously close to a sway. How do you make this move but ensure you aren’t swaying off the ball?
Strike quality aside, should we be trying to hit the same shot shape with every iron? I feel like as I gradually go longer, I start swinging more and more left. I understand that it is a possible by-product of the ball being more forward. If we have to move from playing a draw to a fade from short irons to long irons, from which iron should I start hitting fades instead of draws? Thanks for the lessons Ian!
A consistent low point is literally the only roadblock to breaking 80 / always breaking 90 for me. I'm probably giving up 5-10 shots a round to fat shots, and it's killing me.
I learned to play golf watching you rip shots on txg/club champion. And yet I hate the swing instruction focused videos you've switched to. I'm gonna stay with you and I know this is unpopular opinion, but I'd watch videos of you ripping shots with random clubs from the past over this any day. In fact, I wish you woulda spent a few minutes talking about the shaft you have in that club and switching shafts to see if it changed things. But I guess now that the number 1 ball striking tip is out there, there may be time for videos like that? I mean, let me see a 2010 irons breakdown. Or teach me how irons wear out over time and how to look for signs of that wear. Swing instructional videos are just so vapid. The real number 1 tip is to practice by hitting a lot of balls. Anyways, overall, excited for the channel.
I’d hate to see you go BUT maybe best to unsubscribe from the channel if you hate the videos so far. We’re going to be focused on what helps golfers shoot lower scores based on the 6 key pillars we have identified. I’m just being honest if you’re not enjoying it so far, it’s probably not for you.
Nah, I’m sticking with you, I don’t mean it in a negative way, and I’m happy you are doing what makes you happy. I’m just saying, I love when you speak about equipment. And I hope stuff like what’s in the bag (most views by far) will be part of the channel.
33 degrees of static loft , 20 degrees of delivered loft , that shaft’s leaning forward guys…. Yep, so a difference of 13deg…. 12 deg is two minutes on a clock face ( 1min = 6 deg ) if your shaft is vertical at 12 o’clock then this “ huge lean” is 12.02. Why do ALL TH-camr golf coaches show the crazy 40-60 deg leans ? ( well done 60deg is 12.10 ) Why not explain it’s a fraction… we all know where a ball is going if the face is 12 deg open or shut 😀 The lean is Visually almost imperceptible .
Excellent video Ian , particularly the weight shift demonstration
Lots of helpful information as usual!
Great video per usual. I really appreciate them, always helpful
Thank you. That is exactly what I was working on today after a round on the sim.
Another good video with lots of good info!
Where I struggle is when I get really good at flushing the irons, the driver swing goes to hell.
Soooo true
Every damn time🙄

Looking forward to the weight shift video, Fraz!
Well said, gonna try it out!
Commenting for algorithm🎉
Such a great video.
How does this channel not have 100,000,000 followers already?!?
Ian is the best
I needed this video so bad I hit it 290 with driver then struggling to hit a 7 iron 155
Lol same. Can drive it 300 yards and can’t hit a 4 iron even 200 yds

What’s there to figure out? He putted like a madman! 😊
Question: How do you get forward shaft lean without getting too steep?
This is my follow up question as well.

Awesome video. Love the new channel. Can I use this for the 4 and 5 iron as well?
working on this exact thing now, hitting some spicy rope hooks, but its getting there!
Ian could tell me to do backflips before each shot and I’d give it a try
So Ian, a little Gary Playe move, eh? 😊
Always worked for me.

I do worry about myself swaying back too far off the ball during weight transfer.. always a work in progress!
Is there an ideal AOA/Dyn Loft for different club head speeds?
If you haven’t subbed to this channel, do so now please.
Whats ur decent angle?
Read lower data tile 4th from left
Found it, thsnks mate@@mikebarnard2689
