In an era of surface level female “girl-boss” characters, Kim truly shines. She’s layered, vulnerable, and has genuine flaws. But she’s also extremely competent, intelligent, and charismatic. She’e just an amazing character and one of the best in the BB universe… And she’s a fucking baddie
6:40 is probably one of Jimmy's most underrated moments, he gets caught, searching for a dead drop, in the middle of a kingpins restaurant, head halfway down a garbage can, and is able to poker face GUS FRING into believing his watch story. Saul Gooseman Lawyery Man at Law hard at work once again
26:00 What always strikes me most about Chuck's Chicanery rant is just how childish his tone becomes (which is a fabulous bit of acting from Michael McKean) which just really sells the idea that his resentment of Jimmy has built up since childhood.
As a younger sibling whose older brother practically raised me, similarly to how chuck was jimmys father figure, I could never imagine being told that and if I was, i can’t begin to imagine how I’d react
One thing I love about Chuck's character is how much of a presence he remains in the following seasons in spite of his death. That's something really hard for a writer to do naturally.
The way both BB and BCS handle character deaths are really good. They always feel impactful and are always mentioned. Another example of this is Jane's death. The fact that Jesse spent nearly an entire season mourning her makes everything seem more realistic and grounded.
17:30 Another thing in particular that I absolutely LOVE about Chuck’s EHS is how the writers use it to make him feel so much more important, revered, and ominous than he already does. There are a couple of scenes throughout the show where there’ll be a meeting going on or something. Then, all of a sudden and without warning, someone walks in, turns off the lights, and starts collecting everyone’s phones. No one has said he’s on his way or even mentioned his name, and he hasn’t even entered the scene yet, but with that action alone you KNOW that Charles McGill is coming. It makes it feel like Chuck is royalty, and everyone else in the scene are his subjects dropping everything to prepare for the honor of his arrival. It really helps to drive home how much sway he has in the legal community, and how incredibly difficult it would be to take him on if he had you in his sights. Like you said in the video, it’s extremely impressive how, by giving Chuck EHS, the writers gave him a character trait that is so versatile and can be used to deepen his character in so many wildly different ways. This video was a really entertaining watch, and I’m excited to see your breakdown of the rest of the series!
So usually when Chuck goes outside he goes all balistic right? The only time he doesn't is when he was berating Jimmy when he was on his way to being arrested. It's such an intriguing way to show that really his "condition" is only affected by how he is currently feeling towards Jimmy.
there was other moments in the series, all of which are meant to show how the illness is in his head, i think the most import one in the series was after they discovered sand piper and were working on it together, and chuck was distracted and walked outside to the mail box and checked some things inside it, which included jimmy's phone. It's meant to show how the illness represents chuck's internalized resentment of jimmy, and that if he puts that aside he doesn't feel the pain from electricity. It's also supposed to be a "what if" thing where it showed that chuck and jimmy could have gotten along, and how it was the only way for chuck to get over his sensitivity to electricity and get better.
@@gumibear9161I don’t feel like Chucks condition has anything to do with Jimmy actually. I think it is all to do with how Chuck never let himself fully feel the sadness of his wife leaving, and then letting himself heal. He just bottles it up, exactly the way Jimmy bottles up his feelings about Chucks death.

When BCS first started I was like why did they choose such a young actress to play Kim? Then my jaw dropped when I found out her age... Lalo was right when he told Jimmy "For somebody that marries that high up, you have my respect"😂
Dude, your comment at 9:30 about O'Denkirk's acting really improving this season made me think of the "Google autocomplete interview" he did when the question was "When did Bob O'Denkirk begin acting?" and before he answered he quipped, "starting with season 3 of Better Call Saul". Maybe there was something subconscious with him feeling like the show truly was a success at that point and starting with season 3, he was on cruise control.
Not only was this an excellent ranking of Season 3's episodes, but the use of orchestral music from The Great Ace Attorney during "Chicanery" was on another level.
One minor correction. In "Slip", Mike finds the body of the Good Samaritan that Hector executed, not the truck driver. Mike could give two shits about the truck driver since he was working for Hector.
Season 3 was my favorite seasons of both BCS and BB. I'm a little sad knowing that unless Vince makes a new IP, we might never get a show like these two for a very long time. Shows like Breaking Bad especially are once-in-a-blue-moon type shows. If you weren't _there_, you didn't get it. Thank god it had a resurgence tho so more people could appreciate it for what it is: A work of art. Same goes with Better Call Saul. I remember when Season 3 or 4 was premiering on Netflix (back when I paid for shows and movies lol) and I didn't care for it cause I was too young to appreciate it. But now that I'm older, I understand the complete product way more and I applaud not just the writers but the actors, producers, set/costume designers, and everyone else who make these shows as great as they are.
Vince just announced that his new show is going to be some kind of sci fi show that also takes place in New Mexico and that it'll have Kim in it, apparently as the lead.
Well we had overall 2 great shows with great finales with no loose ties left I think it is a good place to stopthere and then nobody wants a show like the walking dead again that after peaking with 10 millikon views overstays its welcome for so long that not even 1 million people bother to watch the finale

the fact is Chuck killed himself in the first place because he was so guilty about what he said to jimmy. immediatley as jimmy leaves, Chuck looks distraught at what had just come out of his mouth. then he relapses. he goes for the worst. He's so distraught and guilty of what he said to jimmy that it manifested itself back into his illness, just like it had when rebecca left him. he cant bear the pain and his mind subconsciously translates this pain in relation to his delusion regarding the electricity. he eventually kills himself because of this extreme guilt because he did actually love jimmy in his own way, as we can see in season 4 episode 10.

It's so interesting to me to see the difference in Jimmy and Chuck. Jimmy's at his worst when Chuck is ruining his life, and Chuck is at his worst when Jimmy is starting to outshine him yet again. Chuck is a cancer hurting everyone around him, ruining everyone around him, and yet because of that, he never gets the help he needs. It's a circle of horrible.
The biggest part of Chuck and Jimmy's dynamic, I think, is that both of them are driven to their worst selves by each other because Chuck is unwilling to forgive Jimmy or give him a shot at anything other than hanging onto the lowest rung of the ladder. Chuck's illness is caused by Jimmy's antics, but Jimmy's antics in BCS are fueled mostly by fallout from Chuck's actions. When Jimmy gets sabotaged or is looked down on by Chuck, he resorts to scams to make up the difference. Jimmy views everybody like Chuck and believes that he can never be given a true second chance or be forgiven, which he outright states in the season 4 finale after the scholarship meeting. It's a twisted feedback loop where they both drive each other down perpetually. Brilliant writing.

I finished breaking bad when you uploaded your better call Saul season one review, and finnished better call Saul around the time of your season 2 review. Needless to say, I've been looking forward to this video for a long time, ever since chicanery (obviously).
Probably watched this (and the other videos) about 4-5 times. I got trouble falling asleep due to depression, ADHS and tinnitus and these videos are perfect for that, because they are constantly moving, are about an interesting subject, they run for a decent amount of time and it's noise.
Bro I just found your account and you are genuinely hilarious, I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your recaps. "She invites Jimmy to smoke crack with her friends" and the Kim feet bit were my personal favorites, keep up the great work my man
back to comment again. Tonight while the Mrs. was watching Slip for the first time I noticed that when Jimmy is lying on the floor while playing the guitar Kim claims that Jimmy seemed fine yesterday, but then Jimmy corrects her and says that he hasn't seen her since Tuesday. Just a very small detail snuck in to show how tired and overwhelmed Kim is before the crash at the end of the next episode.
Mate you had me pissing laughing so many times in all of your videos, your humour is a real welcome breath of fresh air. It comes through that you're having fun while editing for real. Love your work. Also love the subtle use of the Great Ace Attorney music for the courtroom scenes by the way. Really great touch 👌
Just finished watching your Breaking Bad tier list and as I was like damn that was good too bad it's over, this fresh, crispy video popped up, excellent editing as always
Chuck is such an interesting character. He's super hatable and does so much awful detestable stuff throughout the show, and is so convinced that Jimmy can't change, while being completely oblivious to the fact that his spitefulness is the exact reason why Jimmy won't change. But at the same time, during those scenes where he's progressing and starting to overcome his condition, I can't help but feel happy for him. Even knowing how his story ends, it's heartwarming. Those glimpses of Chuck's deeply hidden good side and the brief moments where him and Jimmy are getting along make his conflict with Jimmy even more tragic. What an incredibly well-written character.
Note: I had to cut out a clip during the witness segment because it got my video blocked worldwide, explaining the awkward cut at that segment. Other than that, the video should be intact. Gonna be fixing this issue in the supercut 👍

The shots are so deep and meaningful in this show, but when it comes to Kim, it's like make sure you got 2-5 seconds of her feet in heels or barefoot.
52:50 I felt like it was a period piece of the early 2000's while watching too. And it was kind of surreal to see that for a time period that still feels fairly recent to my old ass.
I'm rewatching this show for the first time and it gives me such a huge appreciation for the early seasons. I loved it a lot my first watch but it's even better the second time around. What a perfect show
Bro I'm drunk af but I'm gonna watch this when I'm sober ily
You know, when Heull Babinaux is reasonably happy, it's a good day.
First the "i hope chuck died in a fire" And then the 53:56
The foreshadowing is crazy
i just finished watching the entire show, i honestly can't wait to see how Beat Rice reviews the rest of the show.
I finished breaking bad when you uploaded your better call Saul season one review, and finnished better call Saul around the time of your season 2 review. Needless to say, I've been looking forward to this video for a long time, ever since chicanery (obviously).
I had to get out of the funeral just to watch this, Thanks Beat Rice!
Can't sleep at 5 AM and I have Saturday classes in three hours. Perfect time to watch this!
31:53 for now
Been waiting for this video a long time I’m hyped
Probably watched this (and the other videos) about 4-5 times. I got trouble falling asleep due to depression, ADHS and tinnitus and these videos are perfect for that, because they are constantly moving, are about an interesting subject, they run for a decent amount of time and it's noise.
I really appreciate you using aruarian dance by Nujabes as the background music. Made what was already a perfect video even more better.
I know this video is about to be a banger
Bro I just found your account and you are genuinely hilarious, I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your recaps. "She invites Jimmy to smoke crack with her friends" and the Kim feet bit were my personal favorites, keep up the great work my man
Can't wait for Part 4 in two hours. Better rush it Mr. Beating my Rice.
Omg Ive been waiting for this to come out ever since I saw the previous ones, you cant even imagine
GOD I love your analysis on tge episodes. Thank you very much Beat. Even pointing out things I've missed. You're the man!
I really love that football joke at 11:43 Got to say, the CBS UI is awesome.
Always love your energy and jokes that you put into these tierlist vids cant wait for the next one
Literally my favorite type of better call saul content right now
back to comment again.
Literally just found this channel today which uploads monthly and now I immediately get a video, lucky timing
Babe wake up new ranking video just dropped.
What a banger man! Been looking forward to this video for ages
Just finished watching your Breaking Bad tier list and as I was like damn that was good too bad it's over, this fresh, crispy video popped up, excellent editing as always
Man your content has to be some of the most underrated content out there, good job on it tho
Bro i knew i needed to watch this show. And this is just a great recap with amazing jokes, also pretty good editing. I love this channel
This hour video went by so fast. Another banger, amazing job 🙌
Damn jimmy telling chuck he’s gonna burn down his house peak foreshadowing
another banger by beat rice ive rewatched all the tier list stuff about 3 times now
Man, the use of Ace Attorney Chronicles music was divine. Specially during the Chicanery and outro sections. Bravo Rice, well played.
22:23 'Reasonably happy'
See what you did there!
your videos make me wanna rewatch the show keep up the good work bro
55:10 “the long term actions of his consequences”
Came here to say this
Between this and the Breaking Bad tier list, you sir have earned yourself a sub.
For sure made my month, thanks for the hard work you put into these videos ;; it means a lot to us
Your comedy is fire. I love these videos. Hope to see season 4 real soon!
Great video as always and I absolutely love how you used the soundtrack of great ace attorney in the video ESPECIALLY during chicanery 👌
This season is fire. One of, if not the best season of Better Call Saul
The whole "irene getting alone and hated" subplot is the only moraly reprehensable thing gene has done.
Truly when Gene Goodgill became Saulemberg.
This is gonna be the best 1 hour, 1 minute and 6 seconds ever
